About the Kicker 43CWR124

Overbuilt? More like built just right

Kicker designed their CompR subs for people who love to hear strong bass in their music. The CompR 43CWR124 12” subwoofer comes equipped with a tough, polypropylene cone that stays rigid during intense play sessions so you hear accurate bass. A custom-designed back and top plate give the woofer plenty of room to travel, while the durable rubber surround helps to control cone movement during a heavy workout. This sub uses extensive venting in its heavy steel basket to shrug off heat, so you can count on reliable performance.

Say hello to system flexibility

This Kicker CompR sub will handle up to 500 watts RMS so make sure you have an amplifier that'll do it justice. Its dual 4-ohm voice coils draw more power from a mono amplifier, and this versatile sub works well in sealed or ported enclosures.

Product Research

Features

Dual Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 4Ω voice coils, offering wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 2Ω load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents an 8Ω load.

Sealed Enclosures: Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music. Kicker recommends sealed enclosures from 1.0 ft³ to 2.0 ft³.

Vented Enclosures: Vented (or ported) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. Kicker recommends ported enclosures in the following range:

  • Minimum Enclosure Volume: 1.75 ft³ with a 12-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 20" slot port
  • Maximum Enclosure Volume: 2.25 ft³ with a 12-1/2" x 3" x 20-1/2" slot port

Note: Although some are smaller than optimal, the prefabricated enclosures we list on the accessory page produce good results.

Customer Q&A

Q
What power amp should i get and brand?
[ James  Nov 01, 2020 ]
2 answers
A
Any amp pushing at least 350w rms to the sub output. I have an Alpine 5ch w/350w rms going to just one of these subs and it seems more than enough.

I would suggest the kicker CXA400.1. You will get 300 watts RMS if you wire subwoofer voice coils in parallel (2 ohm). I had the CXA800.1 on a single 43CWR124 and it was too much power. The Kicker CX series amps are compact in size and pack a lot of power.

Q
What grill covers or grill can I buy to protect these subs?
[ Ismael  Oct 31, 2020 ]

I just bought the basic waffle grill Crutchfield recommended with 4 mounts to hold it down.

Q
What kicker cx series amplifier will run closest to the correct rms power for 2 of these subwoofers?

I have two of these subs in a sound ordinance box running on a CXA800.1 and it hits hard.

Do not get kicker. Get a skar audio, or a sundown audio.

Im using a kicker cx1200.1 and it pushes them just fine.

The problem with running 2 of these speakers is they have dual 4ohm voice coils which means your amp will see either a 1ohm or 4ohm load if wired together properly. I don't think kicker makes a cx series amplifier that can handle a 1ohm load and 4ohm isn't ideal because you would need an amp twice the rated power. I suggest getting the 2ohm version of this speaker if you plan on running two. If wired properly your amp will see a 2ohm load in that case any monoblock 2ohm amp 500watts or more will do the trick. Good luck!
