About the Kicker CompRT 43CWRT122

A thin sub with fat bass

If you're looking for bass for a tight space, Kicker designed their CompRT subs with compact cars, pickup trucks, and ATVs in mind. The low-profile 43CWRT122 12” subwoofer performs just like a full-size sub, but without killing all your cargo space. This high-performance CompRT sub stands less than 4" tall, so your installation options are wide open.

Kicker CompRT 43CWRT122 12" Dual 2-ohm Component Subwoofer

At only 3-3/4" tall, this sub can fit into some tight spots.

Built with boom in mind

The 43CWRT122 comes equipped with a rigid injection-molded polypropylene cone that won't flex and cause distortion while you're cranking the bass. Its rubber surround will last through years of heavy use, combining with a special-design back and top plate to give you more excursion (which equals more bass) than other skinny subs.

Made to work with many systems

This sub handles up to 500 watts RMS so make sure you've got a solid amp to power it. You can wire the dual voice coils for either 1- or 4-ohm total impedance, giving you more wiring options when setting up your system. This versatile sub sounds great in sealed or ported enclosures.

Important Note: If you are wiring this DVC sub for extremely low impedance, make sure that your amp is compatible. You can damage or destroy your amp by exceeding recommended minimum impedance.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 375 and 750 watts RMS at 1 or 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Came with a cutting template in the box, along with secure packaging. Very solid bass produced from these shallow mounts. Solid cone material and strong driver. Tight and clean sound. Put 2 in a split sealed box and I am very pleased with the outcome.

Pros: High quality bass produced from a shallow mounted sub Very good wire clamps for connecting to amp. Solid packaging Cutting template in the box

Compact size, Big Sound

This product was to replace an Alpine SWR-12D2. Long story short I used to have a GMC Yukon and had the Alpine in a sub box that fit that vehicle well. Upgraded to a Ram 1500 crew cab and unfortunately the Alpine is a had a little more substantial magnet & basket around the speaker, so it wouldn't fit under the back seat. Called Crutchfield, explained the situation and the size constraints, and was offered this sub. It functions really well and plays all ranges of music. It takes a little tweaking to get the lpf & gains set just right, but once you do its spot on and sounds great!

Great sub, nice performance for a small enclosure and shallow mount sub. I have it under the back seat of my GMC Sierra crew cab. Actually bought this as a replacement for a Kicker 12 inch compRT dual 1 ohm voice cool sub that blew on me. Went to the 2 ohm DVC thinking that the lower impedance would make for less power from the amp and maybe be safer. The old 1 ohm DVC was seeing right at 500 watts so should have been able to handle it either way. That's the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5.

Pros: Shallow mount, great brand, sounds great in small enclosure.

Cons: Last one blew so hoping this one can last longer

Product Research

Features

Dual Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 2Ω voice coils, offering wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 1Ω load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents a 4Ω load.

Shallow-Mount: Kicker's CompRT series is designed to minimize depth, giving you subwoofer options where standard enclosures don't fit. The vent-less, solid-pole design allows the woofer to be mounted directly against the rear wall of a sealed enclosure.

All-Weather: Although not marine certified, Kicker describes the CompRT series as weatherproof.

Sealed Enclosures: Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music. Kicker recommends sealed enclosures from 0.55 ft³ to 2.0 ft³.

Vented Enclosures: Vented (or ported) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. Kicker recommends ported enclosures in the following range:

  • Minimum Enclosure Volume: 1.75 ft³ with a 12-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 20" slot port
  • Maximum Enclosure Volume: 2.25 ft³ with a 12-1/2" x 3" x 20-1/2" slot port

What 3 channel amp should i use since i have a box that has 3 of these subs ?

A
These sub have dual 2 ohm coils, in series they are 4 ohms, if you wire all three in parallel this would be a 1.333 ohm load. Make sure your amp (mono amp) is 1 ohm stable and at least 600 Watts RMS at 1 ohm.
