About the Kicker CompRT 43CWRT672

A thin sub with fat bass

If you're looking for bass for a tight space, Kicker designed their CompRT subs with compact cars, pickup trucks, and ATVs in mind. The low-profile 43CWRT672 6-3/4” subwoofer performs just like a full-size sub, but without killing all your cargo space. This high-performance CompRT sub stands less than 3" tall, so your installation options are wide open.

Built with boom in mind

The 43CWRT672 comes equipped with a rigid injection-molded polypropylene cone that won't flex and cause distortion while you're cranking the bass. Its rubber surround will last through years of heavy use, combining with a special-design back and top plate to give you more excursion (which equals more bass) than other skinny subs.

Made to work with many systems

This sub handles up to 150 watts RMS so make sure you've got a solid amp to power it. You can wire the dual voice coils for either 4- or 1-ohm total impedance, giving you more wiring options when setting up your system. This sub sounds great in a sealed enclosure.

Important Note: If you are wiring this DVC sub for low impedance, make sure that your amp is compatible. You can damage or destroy your amp by exceeding recommended minimum impedance.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 120 and 225 watts RMS at 1 or 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Cons: Connections do not fit normal banana plugs.( to small of diameter) I needed to find another type of connection.

Good speaker for the price

2015 Mazda 3

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

1st time I used my stock Bose amp (2015 Mazda 3 GT i), the speaker sounded as good as the Bose it replaced (before the Bose blew), after 3 or 4 hours of play time, I heard frequencies reproduced that I remember when I bought the car new. I do believe the Kicker CompRT 43CWRT672 could handle more power but I'm not sure how much more power the other 8 Bose speakers could handle. My resistance reading on the front door Bose sub measured between 0.9 and 1.1 ohms so I wired the Kicker CompRT 43CWRT672 in parallel for a 1 ohm load.

Pros: After the speaker was broken in, Kicker CompRT 43CWRT672 6.75 inch sub is as good as a 9 inch Bose sub. Very good low power speaker.

Factory Sub Replacement 01 Jeep TJ

Rick from Bonaire, GA on 4/13/2019

2001 Jeep Wrangler

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Replaced the factory center console sub in my 01 TJ. Could not be happier. Took some minor modifications to install but nothing to complex and the results were way above my expectations. Honestly would have never believed a 6.75 inch sub could sound so good. I did ditch the factory amp for something with more juice to drive the sub. Definitely a must for anyone with a Jeep with a factory console mounted sub that wants added bass without sacrificing space.

Pros: Excellent sound quality for a compact sub.

Cons: Haven't found one yet. After a month of use, no complaints.

2003 Honda Element replacement of original factory 6 3/4" subwoofer with Kicker Comp RT 43CWRT672. Built my own wire harness, used original under dash enclosure, drilled 8 new mounting holes for my own screws... 1/2 hour later we be bumpin'. (Ps. suggest watching YouTube and expect to use common sense). Crutchfield Tech Reps are great! Speaker is even better!

Pros: 1. Awesome customer service and shipping 2. Quality product 3. Bottom line: kickin sound! 4. Definite recommend

Cons: Perfect match for a DIY guy! All you get in the box is the speaker and a detailed idescription sheet - no wites, no mounts, no 8 screws. Expect to to figure it out, with the help of the excellent Crutchfield tech reps.

Great Mini Sub

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

So I bought this sub on a recommendation. My SAAB wagon had a blown sub. I wanted to keep factory look. I took a chance and bought this one. It worked out great. It mounted in factory enclosure with very little work. It sounded good with factory amp, but I wanted a little more. I added an Audio control ACM-1.300 micro amp and now it really shines. I highly recommend anyone with a SAAB wagon to replace the old, worn out sub with one of these. You won't be disappointed.

Pros: Great price, fit and performance. Also flexibility of two different DVC options.

Cons: None

Replacement Sub - Jeep Renegade

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Awesome replacement for subwoofer in Jeep Renegade. A little tricky to replace, but most definitely worth it.

Pros: Far better than factory sub in Jeep Renegade and greatly enhances system (especially if you change out the mid range speakers in dash).

Cons: Replacement is not easy. Option 1, follow instructions provided by Crutchfield, which requires quite a bit of work. Option two, remove the speaker grill and work your butt off squeezing the new speaker in. If I had it to do again, I follow the Crutchfield steps. My guess is, it would be the same amount of time and probably a heck of a lot less frustrating.

Good replacement for an '04 Land Cruiser factory sub--very limited options since it's a 2 ohm system and a small diameter opening in the factory subwoofer box, and this is perfectly adequate. Not mind-blowing--cannot handle some Portishead songs at all--but an enormous improvement on the utterly trashed factory speaker, and seems very reasonably priced.

Works Great, needed enclosure modification for factory Jeep TJ

Sounds great but required a lot of cutting of the factory 2003 Jeep TJ center console enclosure. This speaker is much deeper than original. I used a Dremel with cutting blade to reach in the box. The good news is, I got it to fit without cutting through the enclosure therefore maintaining the integrity.

Pros: Sounds Great

Cons: Requires modifying enclosure, about one hour time and cutting tools.

This Kicker subwoofer was a great addition to upgrading the speakers in our 2003 Honda Element. We are getting great bass out of this low, center console speaker. As for installation for this particular vehicle it required drilling new holes as the original ones didn't line up. Aside from that, it was a good installation, and for a DIY person like myself, no serious issues were present. Thanks to Crutchfield!

Great Replacement for Factory Sub in 2002 Jeep TJ

Jeff from Russellville, IN on 7/31/2018

2002 Jeep Wrangler

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I put this sub in back in March of this year after the factory one had disintegrated. It is working great and sounds as good or better than the factory sub. I'm no audiophile, but heck, we are driving with no top or doors on the jeep so it definitely works great for our needs and we didn't have to add any amps or re-wire anything. I did put polyfill in the enclosure as well as the soundbar. You do have to trim some of the plastic off the sub itself as well as some of the plastic in the back of the enclosure on a jeep TJ to get it to fit. My system is a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X898 with Kenwood Excelon KFC-X133 in sound bar and Kenwood Excelon KFC-X463C in dash. All bought in 2014 from Crutchfield with the installation kits and everything is working great together. The stereo system sounds way better now than it ever did from the factory. I always recommend Crutchfield to my friends because they have good prices and complete installation kits with the systems they sell. I have bought several systems in the last decade and all are working great. And no I don't work for them, I'm just a long time satisfied customer.

Pros: Works and Sounds great with factory amp

Cons: Have to do some plastic trimming to get it to fit.

Not worth it.

Bruce from Roselle, IL on 7/17/2018

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I didn't like them, running off a 250/1 I had 2 dual voice coil 2 ohm speakers each running in series (4 ohm load) then bridged to get a 2 ohm load. One speaker froze and the other has a crackling problem, both I believe are defective. Sadly I had thrown out the packing material so I will chalk it up to my mistake for buying a kicker product and deal with the loss of the money that was spent on them.

Pros: Small

Cons: Weak sound, cheaply built, super low power , waste of time to make a box, waste of time to install, just over all very disappointing.

Great match for TJ. Minor modification needed to fit the depth of the speaker. Probably could use some more power as it is overpowered by 5 1/2 roll-bar speakers. Not sure what to expect from this size of a sub so it is hard to give more than 4 stars.

Pros: Upgrade from factory unit. Easy to install, looks great, sounds great, and appears to be well made. Will see how it holds up over time.

Cons: may need more power

I was able to install this myself in my 1995 Range Rover County Classic. When I opened my RRC's sub box, the old sub was completely disintegrated, so no wonder it was so faint before I replaced it. It's hard to find a sub this small, and it would be ideal to get something larger, but to fit in the original space, this does the trick. It definitely adds punch to the sound system that I am slowly rebuilding. It was a little disappointing that this did not come with adapter rings or screws/washers/nuts to assist with installation, or even installation instructions with recommended sizes and numbers of screws/nuts/washers (it takes eight of each). I had to make a trip to the hardware store to assemble washers, nuts and machine screws to put it all together inside the OEM subwoofer box in the back of the truck. It wasn't pretty, but it's all hidden inside my RRC's sub box, so it works well enough.

Pros: Fits; neat and compact

Cons: Small, lacking fitment parts and adapters, no instructions.

Great speaker. Easy to install in 2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ sport. Had to clear out some plastic in the center console due to depth - easy to do. Screwed it in and got the wires right (in phase). Sounds good. No rattle and hiss like a stock speaker.

Ordered for my 05 Wrangler Unlimited. Fits perfect in the factory sub box with a little trimming on the back side to make up the extra mounting depth. Put a small amp with it and this sounds like some 8s and 10s on certain notes. Won't set any sound records but it's miles above the factory sub

Perfect upgrade from my factory sub that packs a punch! I replaced the blown sub for the center console of my 2001 Jeep Wrangler. I did have to do some minor trimming to the console enclosure to make it fit, but it was totally worth it for the sound this a Kicker produces.

Pros: A lot of thumping sound for such a small sub.

Just Installed this earlier today and it sounds amazing! I replaced my blown factory sub and used the old factory amp, wiring and harness. The middle consol did need a bit of trimming, just used some pliers and plastic bits came right off. I watched a couple YouTube videos and worked like a charm. Just remember which wires are positive and negative before disconnecting old sub and you're good to go. It's nice to finally have some bass back in my car, I'll definitely be getting a new amp down the line to get the full power of this sub! Oh and save yourself a trip to the hardware store and buy the recommended hardware since the only thing included is the sub.

Pros: Sounds amazing for compact sub No additional wiring or amp need for Jeep Wrangler TJ

Cons: Factory sub box needed trimming (I knew this before hand so not really a big deal and not hard at all to do)

Installed this in a 2003 Jeep Wrangler. It went in the center console/armrest. This was one of the few subs that would fit in that space with little to no modifications. I still had to grind away some plastic but nothing major. I'm still getting it tuned in but so far it sounds great. I'm a rock/metal guy so I've got it tuned for quick punch bass, not boomy rattle-your-license plate-bass.

Pros: Easy to install Several configuration options Good for rock/metal

Bought this compact Kicker following extensive research about replacing the old compact sub in my BMW Z3. The original compact Kicker recommended was no longer available so I chose to purchase this slightly larger model. Other than needing to build a custom sealed enclosure for it the existing wiring was plug and play for the dual cone setup. For the size and space this compact sub really fills out the audio quality in a way that I enjoy. Not overpowering but clean and punchy.

Big sound from a small package. The 6.75" 2ohm sub was blown in my Land Cruiser, so I experimented with the 2ohm Kicker Comp RT. I chose this model because this is a shallow mount sub, its 2ohm and has more than enough RMS rating available to be driven by my stock factory system. Thankfully it fit the factory sub box opening very well, and the cleared the back side of the box. The only mod's needed are a few new mounting holes need to be made to screw the sub into the box and trimming some of the grill fins to make some room for the front of the speaker and all that's pretty darn easy. I didn't install a new amp- just plugged the new sub directly to the factory wiring and utilized the factory JBL amp. The spring loaded connectors on the Kicker ComRT make this about as easy as it can be. Result: Sounds sooo.. much better, and while a 6.75" sub doesn't pack a huge thump like a 10" or 12" sub, it gets the job done very nicely, much better than the stock sub. There are some lower cost options as far a sub's go, but you really can't beat the quality and features on the Kicker product.

This is a good subwoofer and really hits hard. However I suggest avoiding mounting it in the door if it is listed as an option for your vehicle as it was for mine. Even with a moderate amount of sound proofing material I was unable to get rid of all the vibrations and it did not produce good quality bass. The door is just not the best place to mount a sub-woofer in my opinion. Eventually I returned it for a single 10" sub in a sealed box. Crutchfield customer service is second to none. I can not say enough good things about their customer service!

Sounds good, but contrary to internet info, was not as simple to hack into my Jeep TJ center console (Crutchfield said it was not a direct fit, and they were correct). Had to make a spacer ring to keep the basket "grilles" from hitting the OEM box molded edge, and shim the console side out to keep from touching the speaker surround on excursion. Not too difficult. Beats the ragged out OEM paper cone.

Features

Dual Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 2Ω voice coils, offering wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 1Ω load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents a 4Ω load.

Shallow-Mount: Kicker's CompRT series is designed to minimize depth, giving you subwoofer options where standard enclosures don't fit. The vent-less, solid-pole design allows the woofer to be mounted directly against the rear wall of a sealed enclosure.

All-Weather: Although not marine certified, Kicker describes the CompRT series as weatherproof.

Sealed Enclosures: Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music. Kicker recommends sealed enclosures from 0.18 ft³ to 0.75 ft³.

Q
Does the Kicker 43CWRT672 pair well with Kicker 42PXA2001 and should the sub be wired series or parallel with the amp?
[ Derek  Nov 24, 2018 ]
1 answer
A
Those would be a pretty good match. You would wire the Kicker 43CWRT672 subwoofer in parallel down to 1 ohm. That Kicker 42PXA2001 amp is pushing 100 watts at 1 ohm - right in the middle of the recommended 50 - 150 range of the sub. If you have any other questions about matching amps and subs or getting a complete cart with wiring and install gear you can contact our Product Advisors here: https://bit.ly/2QNxGQB --Cosmo

I have a 2008 impala LT. It currently has a JVC KD-X255BT that has built-in amplifier (22 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels) will these speakers work well with that?
[ Nathan  Oct 03, 2018 ]
1 answer
A
Sorry, no. You'll need an aftermarket amplifier to power the 43CWRT672 properly. We recommend a minimum of 80 watts RMS per woofer. Q
Will these fit in my mid panel location or rear door of my excursion? Would they need an amp? If so my radio head has a single rca out for a sub. Would I just split that circuit?

You can see if they are a recommended option for your vehicle by using the "Find What Fits" application on the main Crutchfield website: https://www.crutchfield.com/car/carselector.aspx?lp=%2fCar%2foutfitmycar%2fmycar.aspx If your stereo has a mono subwoofer output, yes, you'll likely need to use an RCA Y adapter to connect it to the left/right stereo input of an amplifier. I don't know about fitment in your vehicle, but yes you do need an amp. I have these in the rear doors of my Chevy Avalanche and they would do much better if they had an enclosure, the doors have too much air space, these subs only want about a cubic foot sealed box space. I'm running a 300 watt mono kicker subwoofer amp to 2 of these subs model cxa300.1

DWill these fit my 2012 Honda Civic EX sedan, the front door /reAr deck?

A
No, these won't fit in your front doors. They could fit on your rear deck with a lot of cutting but would not recommend it. These are subwoofers and are designed to be installed into a sealed subwoofer box to produce lower frequency bass notes.

Dont know, I put it in the center console of. TJ
[ JAMEE  Aug 16, 2018 ]

I don't know about the exact fit, but I do know that you need to enclose these in a small box to get the best output. They are not going to work the way you want if they are free air. Unless you have some major space concerns, I wouldn't use these as a first choice. A good set of component speakers with good amplification gives you close to as much midbass but not quite as much lower bass output as these do if they don't have the right enclosure. If I had the choice I'd get some 8 inch subs in a sealed box with good power for some really tight fast bass if that's what you're after. Solid front stage, some rear-fill, or skip the rear-fill, have a really solid front stage and entirely remove the rear speakers (leave the grills} and use that empty space as a port to let the bass from your box in the trunk come into the car. Just my two cents.

Q
Can I use this as a direct replacement for the factory, under the console, sub in my 2007 Escalade ESV?
[ Baller  Apr 20, 2018 ]
1 answer
A
It depends, if the size is the same then it should fit right in although you may have to cut the wires and attach them to the new sub.

Q
Would this be a good replacement for a factory rear sub in the rear deck? Its the exact same size as the factory sub (6.75). In theory this is an infinite baffle setup so im just curious as to how well this sub would work doing a direct swap
[ Tyler  Oct 29, 2017 ]
1 answer
A
Much depends on the the number (single or dual) and impedance of the stock sub's voice coil(s) and the wattage of the factory amp. The Kicker has a minimum recommended wattage of 80 RMS so, most factory amplifiers will not be enough to power it properly. Q
Aside from the obvious fitment issue, Would this be a suitable replacement for the factory subwoofer in a 2004 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon? I am willing and able to modify the stock subwoofer box.
[ raydevuyst  Oct 01, 2017 ]

A
Absolutely! Its a great speaker. It's only a little bit of modifying of the enclosure to make it work. Quick work with a dremel tool does the trick. It's plug and play. I have a 2004 Jeep Wrangler Sport and I love the upgrade. My originals were blown and crumbled when i took them out. I would definitely buy this again.
[ Bryan  Oct 01, 2017 ]
A
If you don't want any bass they would be great mid range not good subwoofer
[ Anthony  Oct 01, 2017 ]
A
Yes this fits and works however I added a Kicker amplifier to it and bypassed completely the internal system because it is underpowered for such a better sub. It will work but use the 43CWRT671 one ohm per voice coil speaker if you want to keep the factory amplifier. It has to be 1 ohm per voice coil if you want enough output to drive it at any volume. The original Jeep sub is 1 ohm per voice coil so it will match up. Id submit a picture but you can go to wranglertjforum and search for my article on the change out for pictures of how it looks after installation, RangerRick.
[ Rick  Oct 01, 2017 ]
A
Yes, you will be pleased with this over the factory sub.

Q
Will this fit in a 2008 MB GL550 rear sub location without modifications or wiring harnesses? Any idea what the factory sub impedance is? I have a hunch 2 ohms (or 1 ohm!) could damage the factory amp.

Q
Would an amp be needed if I'm replacing my rear door speakers in my 2015 Hyundai Elantra GT?
[ Matt  Mar 30, 2017 ]
4 answers
A
Are you using this woofer? If so I believe so.
[ Edson  Apr 02, 2017 ]
A
The 43CWRT672 is actually a smallish sub woofer. Not sure that it would be the best choice for a full range speaker, and my have fitment issues in a rear door (unless specifically listed to fit). It's pretty deep for it's diameter and has baffles around the basket that might hinder fitment. Are your sure it will fit? If so, I recommend some kind of amplifier, be it an OEM sub amp or aftermarket. (I installed it in the center console of my Jeep TJ driven by the OEM amp).
[ Kevin  Apr 01, 2017 ]
A
You will most likely want an Amp with this speaker to get the best sound.
[ David  Mar 31, 2017 ]
A
I have a amp hooked to mine and it is a bit much. Unless you need a dual voice coil, this full sub woofer has a lot of base. I am questioning why you want these a door speaker when a good coaxial speaker would seem more appropriate. Good Luck
