About the Kicker 45CWTB102

Compact enclosure, massive bass

Whatever kind of music you like, you need a good subwoofer to make it sound great. When you want great bass and also need to keep your cargo space, you need a powerful, compact solution. Kicker's 45CWTB102 tube subwoofer gives you window-rattling bass and impressive power handling in a surprisingly small package. The enclosure includes a 10" subwoofer and a second passive sub (called a "passive radiator") which reacts to the air pressure produced by the active sub, creating lots more bass without any port noise.

10" bass cannon

Kicker built the 45CWTB102 tube-shaped enclosure out of tough ABS plastic that'll stand up to the stresses of car life. The tubular shape pushes bass frequencies into the air like a cannon, pumping deep, resonant sound into your vehicle and your ears. You can mount the enclosure vertically or horizontally, letting it tuck neatly into a corner of your trunk or cargo area. Spring-loaded wiring terminals make it easy to connect the wiring from your amp.

Kicker speaker quality

You need a high-quality speaker to maximize the sound and impact of your music, and Kicker loads this enclosure with a 10" CompR sub that's ready to step up and bring the boom. Its polypropylene cone and Santoprene rubber surround maintain their shape to give you the serious bass you expect from Kicker. The speaker handles up to 400 watts of RMS power, so you're sure to get the impact you're looking for, while its 2-ohm impedance gets max power from your mono amp. The package includes mounting hardware and brackets for easy installation.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 300 and 600 watts RMS at 2 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

I put this sub in my Jeep and the bass is great. I paired it with the kicker 42pxa5001 amp and it really thumps. I highly recommend.

Pros: Compact size Great bass

Cons: Cheap screws included for mounting

Amazing. Simply amazing. It's compact, sturdy, aggressive looking, and sounds phenomenal. I have it hooked up to a Memphis 16sa1.300 micro amp, and have it bolted to the trunk lid of a 2018 Mazda MX-5 and it SLAMS. I was gonna go with a JL Audio microsub, but after seeing this and talking to Buster about it, I'm glad I purchased this instead. Does it hit as hard as my old ported 15? No, of course not. But that being said, this exceeded my expectations in every way. I cannot recommend this sub enough. It really is that good.

Pros: Price Clarity (I.e., not muddled/overly boomy) Volume at 300w RMS Mounting backets allow for variety of mounting styles

Cons: Mounting bracket is neat, but kind of a pain to figure out. I think mine was bent out of shape a bit because some of the screws only lined up without the flat plastic washer. Otherwise they didn't reach the threading.

Not very loud, not impressed

I installed this in the console of a boat. It's powered by a compact Kenwood 600W Mono Amp (300W RMS) and premium OFC 12awg speaker wire. I expected much more performance at this price point. It does add a subtle touch of bass to the music, which is nice, but overall it's rather weak. To be fair the specs called for 400W RMS, but if you can't make a little bass with a 10" tube and 300W then somebody's lying... As for the sound, it's neither boomy or tight, but rather accentuates a lower tone in the music. I had to adjust the Amp Gain and LPF to prevent distortion. In the end there's just not much volume left. This is the Bass for a system that consists of 4 JL 6.5" speakers in the hull (also powered by a Kenwood 600) and 2 Kicker 8" tower speakers, which totally Rock (also powered by a Kenwood 600). Everything is correctly installed and compatible. This system pretty much drowns out the bass tube I guess. I chose this setup for the weather resistance and because I once had a 10" Bazooka tube powered by a Punch 75 Amp that sounded pretty good. It would take at least 2 of these to sound like that though. It's made well, looks awesome, just overpriced for the unimpressive performance. It would probably sound good in a car with and with a bigger Amp, or a better speaker. In a boat you'll barely hear it.

Pros: Nicely made Looks great Good mounting hardware Easy installation

Cons: Not loud Weak bass Over priced

Big sound in a convenient package

I wasn't expecting that much from this compact, sealed subwoofer enclosure. I was wrong. This is a fantastic product. I installed in my 2004 Chevy Silverado Extended Cab and it fits under the back bench seat without issue. I'm only powering it with 300 Watts RMS but it pounds.

Pros: Compact, good sound quality, light-weight, element-proof.

Cons: The mounting bracket for this particular model is less than perfect. It worked, but I'm glad to see that they improved the design on the new version.

2009 Honda Fit Sport

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Installed in a 09 Honda Fit with a Rockville db11 amp pushing 350 watts at 2ohms. After setting up the AudioControl Lc2i and adjusting the gain voltage on the amp with a 40hz 0db test tone and a voltmeter I was very surprised by the sound. It's reminds me of two tens from back in the day. It also plays lower frequencies very well. I think the shape of the Honda Fit might help with the sound but with a little more power and proper setup it should be great for most any application, just wish it wasn't as pricey as it is.

Features

Overview: The Kicker CWTB102 is a weather-proof passive subwoofer featuring a CompR driver and a passive Reflex woofer designed to be installed on Jeeps, boats, and UTVs. The 2 ohm subwoofer can handle 400 watts RMS/800 watts peak power and can be mounted either vertically or horizontally.

Enclosure: The CWTB102 is housed in a thick ABS enclosure with heavy-duty grills for a weather-proof subwoofer solution that's at home in the outdoors. Connection to the sub is done with two recessed spring-loaded terminals, providing a positive electrical connection while being protected from the elements. The sub also includes all hardware for mounting it either vertically, with 17-1/16" of mounting height, or horizontally, with 10-3/4" of height.

CompR: The Kicker sub enclosure includes a CompR mounted on one end and  a passive Reflex Subwoofer on the other end. The CompR features a powerful ceramic magnet, an advanced suspension, and superior heat management for long life. Kicker uses its signature red stitching on the woofer for an outstanding bond between the driver's Santoprene surround and Polypropylene cone, providing reliable performance under extreme conditions. Kicker's SoloKon technology joins the cone to the vented back brace, both cooling the motor and eliminating distortion, for clean smooth bass. The built-in Reflex Subwoofer uses the same cone and surround materials as the active sub and is mounted on the opposite end, providing even deeper louder bass than with just the active driver.

Specifications:

  • Impedance: 2Ω
  • Sensitivity (dB 1w/1m): 85.7

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.
