Two hard-hitting CompC subs

Each 10" CompC sub features a flex-resistant polypropylene cone for hard-hitting lows without distortion, with a ribbed foam surround that promotes long excursion and helps to keep the cones on target. A heavy-duty steel basket provides a reliable foundation for big bass, and extensive venting ensures long-lasting performance that won't break down when the bass gets heavy.

NICE!

I paired this with a Rockford R500X1D and couldn't be happier! If you're looking to blow the trunk off the hinges this isn't for you. I'm only powering these with a 500 watt rms amp and they're only rated for 600 watts.

Pros: Nice box from Kicker! The bass is nice and clean!

Cons: Wish they had better grill options. Bought the ones in pic from amazon.

Great sub for the money

Using this sub in a 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport, it gets really loud. I'm powering it with an Alpine PDX-V9 so it's definitely not getting the full 600 watts RMS but I'm not even driving my whole system to 75% yet. It can surely be loud enough to wake and annoy others, if that's your intention. While it can get loud, it is a little on the muddy side. I can't say that I have audiophile hearing but this sub isn't as punchy as some may like. Very boomy and can shake your items in your car but for the cost, it's a very good sub.

Pros: Loud, hefty and delivers good rumbles.

Cons: Doesn't have that punch like some others might have

Q
I have a Kicker zx- 700.5 powering my whole system I have these Sub set up in 2-ohm which makes my amp give feed 420 Watt RMS to them and they sound great. You don't have to feed them 600 Watt RMS but it's best to try and not use a under powered amp?
[ Joshua  Jan 07, 2018 ]
1 answer
A
Ideally you'd want to power the Kicker 44DCWC102 with an amplifier rated somewhere between 400-800 watts RMS x 1 (at 2-ohm) to get the best output. For more details or to discuss further, please contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. Thanks!

Q
JBL GTX500 Mono subwoofer amplifier - 500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms Would this be a good amp to pair with this set?
[ Tyler  Dec 01, 2017 ]
1 answer
A
The JBL will not realize the full potential of this enclosure (up to 600 watts RMS) but will power it very well, sure. I hope that helps. My bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Ryan

What amp could you use for this sub?

A
Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your sub I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Q
I have the P500X1BD 500 RMS amp. If I bridged the amp to these subs to put approximately 1000 watts to the 1200 peak watts it advertises, will it be a good pairing?
[ Kookie  Oct 14, 2017 ]
1 answer
A
First off, you cannot bridge a mono amplifier. That particular amp that you mentioned is wired as parallel internally, so even if you see two pairs of outputs, it really is just one channel. Second, putting out 1000 watts to this particular sub is not a good thing. While 1200 watts peak is a specification, that means it'll handle 1200 watts in a really short burst, not continuously. The amp you have will put out 150 watts at 4 ohms, 300 at 2 ohms and 500 at 1 ohm. This sub is 2 ohms and will handle 600 watts RMS(continuously). If you pair your amp to this sub, you will give it only 300 watts. Crutchfield recommends being within 75% to 150% of the RMS rating so you will need an amp that can deliver that much wattage at 2 ohm, should you decide to buy this sub. If you rather keep your amp and get a different sub, find one that will closely match the output of your amp at the varying ohms resistance.
