About the Kicker 43DSC6704

The Kicker fit

Kicker's DS Series 43DSC6704 6-3/4" speakers make a great replacement for the worn-out factory speakers in your vehicle. In addition to providing excellent sound, these Kickers incorporate a zero-protrusion tweeter into a low-profile speaker that'll fit in more vehicles than ever.

Reliable, powerful sound

These 6-3/4" speakers will give you the kind of clarity you've never had with your factory speakers. The 2-way design recreates a dynamic sound, dedicating the highs to the PEI balanced dome tweeter while sending the lower frequencies to the polypropylene woofer. They'll conjure hefty volume even from low-powered factory radios, so you can confidently pump your jams for years to come.

Highlights:

  • 2-way car speakers (pair)
  • 6-3/4" polypropylene woofer with ribbed polyester foam surround
  • 1/2" PEI balanced dome tweeter
  • power range: handles up to 60 watts RMS (240 watts peak power)
  • frequency range: 40-20,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 90 dB
  • top-mount depth: 1-13/16"
  • impedance: 4 ohms
  • grilles included
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee
  • MFR # 43DSC6704

What's in the box:

  • Two 2-way speakers
  • 2 Grilles
  • Two 11" lengths of speaker wire (tinned wire on one end and female quick slides on the other)
  • 4 Red plastic butt connectors
  • Eight 1-1/8" Self-tapping screws
  • 8 Speed clips

First ever set of aftermarket speakers that I got to replace my blown factory door speakers. These sound much better than the original and the rattling is gone! Originally installed with factory headunit, but after a week, decided to get a new Kenwood HU and they seemingly sound even better paired with it.

Equality product. They were rough sounding for the first couple of days and then I got a great separation and tones less boomy and more clear than the factory speakers. I wasn't sure about him in the beginning but once they broke in they sound great.

Pros: Clear well defined pounds and more nuances than the factory

Cons: Probably under powered for a stock unit and some songs you can tell but for the most part they sound really good

More power for road noise

Crutchfield customer from Grants Pass, OR on 8/26/2019

1998 Saturn SL2

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Sound a bit better then the original speakers. I do notice I can hear them better over the road noise. Easy install on a saturn. Went right into the speakers spots with no adaptors. I got the 6 3/4 size and got both front and rear. No amplifier yet, so they could be a lot better with that. They are new so longevity is not known.

Pros: Fit right in openings Used old mounting hardware

Cons: Expected a bigger change in sound.

Installed on a Mustang 6th generation S550

Crutchfield customer from San Juan, PR on 8/19/2019

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

These are just the perfect speakers to assemble on a Mustang S550 premium audio system. If you want to run without aftermarket amplifier these speakers will sake the desire boom you are looking for. The are made out of a great looking and resistant polypropylene, they definitely will resist the heat generated by years of hot sun. The polyester foam works great for the sound but be careful not to tear it apart while installing, it will resist heat way better that pressure. Just plug and play, sound quality on the low end frequency is just amazing. Don't get fooled by other brands, they all claim frequency response below 100 Hz but they just don't deliver. These Kicker will. Y bet my eardrums on it..

Pros: Espectacular bass. They are loud

Cons: They are not really a perfect fit for the inserts. I suggest you find a mini grinder to trim down some in the inner of the insert the get the speaker fit flat in there.

Very good sounding speakers. 10/10 would not buy again because I probably won't have to. They handle power very good and sound way better than the factory Nissan ones. I also put speaker baffles and mid bass is no longer an issue. Only missing 1 star because the bracket didn't fit right.

Noticeable improvement over factory speakers

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Used these to replace both front and rear factory door speakers in a 2008 GMC Sierra. Huge improvement in sound quality for this vehicle but if your doors weren't rattling before they will be after installing new speakers. I had to grind off the inside tabs on the mounting brackets but aside from that installation was probably easier than I expected.

Pros: Great sound Easy installation

Cons: Door rattle at higher volume

Excellent Upgrade from Factory Speakers

Crutchfield customer from Lexington, SC on 6/4/2019

2016 Nissan Rogue

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Excellent upgrade from my factory non-Bose door speakers even with only the factory head unit powering them. You WILL hear a slightly lower overall volume because of the difference in speaker construction... but the quality of the sound is far superior to the factory speakers and well worth the investment if you're looking to step up w/o going broke. And besides... the volume matter is EASILY fixed with an amp, right? :)

Pros: Everything worked out perfectly, sound great and didn't break the bank

Cons: Nothing comes to mind

Good speakers at this price

Crutchfield customer from Simpsonville, SC on 6/2/2019

2007 Acura RDX

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

These are good, solid speakers that handle the high trebles very well while maintaining the bass thickness. These match the Kickers I got for the front doors about 7-8 months ago. So I can attest to the quality. Unfortunately, these are stronger than my 2007 Acura's standard output, so volume never real maxes out but it still goes quite strong at top volume with heavy 70's rock!! For this price, these are a great purchase. My only ding is less with speakers per say than with the install kit. This is twice where well enough I was shown how get behind the door panel and remove the old speaker, but nothing informs on how to properly mount the bracket nor provides insight on the need for foam trimming to avoid chassis rattling (I used previous speaker's trim). Of course, the A1 Crutchfield support was quick & easy to help but it really should be addressed in the purchase kit.

Pros: Great sound and quality at this price

Cons: Needs more thorough install instructions. Needs foam trim provided to eliminate rattle of plastic bracket on door chassis

Cons: Zero!

upgraded from stock , these speakers are loud enough to be handled by stock head unit, if you are having tweeters in your car I suggest to find other speaker due to it too loud on high freq. the other thing , deep low freq. isn't satisfying so I will add subwoofer to my system to gain the best collection, MAZDA 6 2018 non-bose. Absolutely love these speakers. I replaced the factory Bose speakers in my 99 GMC Yukon Denali with these. They were a perfect fit for the front doors with all the holes matching. The supplied harness fit perfectly as well. These were a little big for the rear passenger doors, but it was still simple installation. I centered the speaker and drilled the screws into the panel itself. The plastic snap cover fit right over them (barely) so if you have an older Denali just be aware of that and care about centering them when you mount them. They put out a great sound that surpasses the 20 year old Bose speakers. Really nice Mid's and Low's.

Awesome sounding woofers in a 2016 civic using the stock head unit. I'm always worried about running upgraded speakers off the stock head unit as I know there's still plenty more punch left in these speakers. Surprisingly these must be very efficient woofers as they are loud and crisp.

Pros: Works well with stock head unit. Price. Very crisp clear audio

I replaced factory 2-way speakers on front/rear doors of 2017 Impala; noticed an overall smoothness to listening levels; in using the factory customized equalization settings I reduced midrange/tweeter levels slightly down, but bumped up bass level a tad bit more to make it sound full and robust; also the sound is not as shrill at all listening levels as the Impala is quiet on the highway; I'm a subwoofer fan so I will eventually place a powered subwoofer in the trunk to round out an otherwise excellent sound system for the money in a factory sound system with an improved sound at all door locations. The trick is having a balanced sound, and these Kicker speakers provided it for the price and conveneience with the included adapter mounting kit

Pros: change from 6x9 speakers to 6.75 round units includes a direct-fit new plastic mounting kit for a fast and simple replacement.

Cons: door panel had 6x9 plastice cover protrusion over factory grill, so I cut it off to door panel (backside) surface grille level (dremel tool).

I replaced the front door stock speakers in my 2017 Kia Optima with these. The stock speakers lacked high end and the bass was boomy and muddy. They seem to be decent speakers, and have good overall range of sound. I seem to have lost a bit of bass over stock speakers and there is a bit of shrillness to the treble end. I also noticed a bit of volume loss on certain songs. Not sure if it's due to stock head unit powering them or the fact I replaced stock component speakers with a 2-way and still have the A-pillar tweeters. Considering a swap to the equivalent Kicker component speaker for the fronts to see if that helps.

I purchased these on a recommendation from Crutchfield CSR Jenni to replace the OEM speaker in my truck that had blown out, they fit perfect with just having to redrill screw mounting holes. First time Crutchfield customer here! I'm basically a car stereo DIY novice, and I was instantly impressed with my experience with Crutchfield, and instantly blown away with the sound from these Kicker speakers in my 07 Silverado (new body.) These Silverados are notorious for atrocious stock speakers and my front 2 doors were 100% dead for about the past year. In fact, in 2010, when I bought the truck at just 3 years old, the speakers in the back doors were already dead. As soon as I plugged in these new speakers, it was a huge breath of fresh air to hear so much more clarity in my music than the stock speakers could ever dream of. I went with 2 new pairs for all 4 doors in my extended cab, and put Boom Mats in while I had the door taken apart, in hopes it would keep out any problematic moisture and dust, as well as offer slightly better sound. I cut pretty big holes in the bottoms of the mats for the wires and for the speakers to breathe (I read that was important.) Of course, these Kickers don't put out a massive load of bass by themselves without a sub (a project for another day,) but it is certainly respectable and almost acceptable enough to me, a big bass lover, so long as you aren't cranking your music up super loud to the point of distortion. Definitely look into these speakers for a bangin' sound at a great value!

Pros: Affordable Easy install (thanks Crutchfield!) Great clarity, crisp highs and mid presence Plenty of bass for most music

Cons: Just not quite enough bass on their own, but that's par for the course

Both of the advisors that I worked with did a superb job in helping me out with the size, fitment, etc. No error there. However, I was expecting a better product from Kicker. The mids and highs are better, but I'm not hearing the lows that I'm accustomed to with the Kicker products. For the money, they're a little better than the OEM's, but it leaves me wondering if another brand would've performed better.

Pros: Size. For my vehicle, mounting depth.

Recommended stock replacements

Crutchfield customer from Arlington, TX on 2/27/2018

2017 Toyota RAV4

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

If you're replacing stock speakers running stock head unit, these are FANTASTIC! On 2017 RAV4, I replaced all 4 door AND the 3.5" dash tweeters with Kickers. What a massive upgrade! See my photos of the stock 6.5" speaker and 3.5" tweeter, next to the Kickers. With the speaker adapters, I decided on 6.75" Kickers for the doors and did not have any issues with the install. These speakers improved my audio system throughout the sound range. Haven't cranked it up to the point of distortion yet, but it's plenty loud and clear for my taste. I thought I may have to run a 4 channel amp in the future, but I think these are performing great off the stock head unit. I highly recommend these for stock replacements. Cannot say if these will be any better or worse if they're running off an external amplifier. Great compromise if you do not want to drop a ton of cash on premium or component speakers, but not compromise with cheap speakers. 5 stars because they do what they're designed to do. Nothing more. If you're wanting more, pay more.

Pros: Appears to be good build quality. good mid-bass.

Cons: cone surrounds are foam, not rubber. Lacks in the bass range. highs are slightly too bright.

These speakers sound very good. Clear highs and good sounding bass. There is a noticeable difference from the stock speakers. Bass sounds better, fuller, and deeper than before. They do not sound flimsy, or muffled like the stock speakers. The install was easy once I managed to take the door panel off. I have kept the stock radio powering these speakers in front doors. I can definitely say that so far so good, and am very happy with these speakers. Price is not bad neither. Thanks to crutchfield tech. for the prompt assistance and support as well.

Pros: Bass sounds much better than stock. No muffled or distortion. Quality of speaker looks very good. Better sound

Cons: Had to drill new screw holes to install speakers. But not big deal.

2018 Subaru Crosstrek

These were purchased along with Kicker 6x9's in the front - they worked out great. These, not so much for the back. The appearance of the stock backdoor speakers is better than the fronts and yet still nothing as nice looking as the shiny new Kickers. With plenty of room in the door, I proceeded to install the baffle (un-ported), the bracket and then the speaker into the drivers side back. Now I could compare the two back door speakers side by side and here's where it gets interesting. The Kicker sounded terrible, so I proceeded to port the baffle (as originally suggested by Crutchfield) and it still couldn't compare to the stock speaker. I finally removed the baffle completely which helped a bit but still not enough to say it was a real upgrade. Also, without the baffle in place, the bracket didn't really fit the door very well or lay flush like the original speaker did. With a careful listen with a variety of music, I'd say the Kickers had a tiny bit better high frequency and clarity but the stock speaker had so much more bass that the overall impression between the two was the stock speakers won hands down. I pulled out the Kicker and reinstalled the stock. Keeping the 6x9's and returning these. While I'm bummed with the time wasted with the baffles and the Kicker 6.75 performance, the sound is now much improved costing less than planned. If you've got a 2018 Crosstrek, skip the rear speaker swap. It was great to be able to call Crutchfield (a few times)!

Pros: nice highs and clarity

Cons: mids/bass much worse than stock

Replaced four of my factory speakers with these in my 2016 mustang along with some kicker tweeters and even without an amp there is a huge difference in sound. I am not huge on audio I prefer exhaust but the factory speakers in my car had to go. Very happy with these.

Pros: Sound quality and how shallow they are, no issues with fitting in the door. And price considering they came with the plug and play adapters awesome deal.

Cons: The base could be better but that is not why I bought them.

Installed them into Toyota Sienna 2008 van instead of OEM front door speakers. Upgraded stock radio to Pioneer as well. Speakers sound better than OEM, but I'm not impressed. The main issue: lack of bass. Tried different head unit settings. Almost no bass. Now probably have to think about subwoofer and plan budget for it or maybe find another brand/model speakers with good bass, that probably might be cheeper than sub and amp. I don't need to rattle my car. I don't use subs for my home stereos as well and happy with their sound.

Pros: Mid/high seems okay.

Cons: Lack of bass

I ordered the speaker after ordering the Item #206CSC654 kicker speakers, which were too low in volume. also the associated plastic mounts didn't raise the speakers or mount like the original. I was looking at the above speaker first and the salesperson told me this speaker was better. he was wrong.. I installed these 43dsc6704 in the rear doors which are wired in parallel with the third row kicker 4 inch speakers and sound fantastic. If you are installing these in a chevy traverse or equivalent I suggest ordering these with the Item #142SMH634B mounts for all four doors. Also installing the kicker Item #: 206DSC404 speakers in the third row speaker location will give you awesome sound. you will have to order the grills from the gm dealer of your choice, but will snap right in over speakers.

Pros: great sound, ease of installation

Replaced the OEM speakers in my 08 Scion xD thinking this would be a nice upgrade. They are about 2/3 the weight of the OEM with much smaller magnets. The bass is terrible and the stock stereo easily overpowers them. They start to distort as soon as I turn the bass past neutral. I wish I wouldn't have had to tear the boxes to get them out or they would be going back. I've had Kicker subs before with good results, but these are a waste. Mounting wasn't bad, but I did had to trim the extra tabs to get the door panel back on.

Pros: Lightweight Look nice

Cons: Terrible low end Distort easily

Put this speaker in front and rear doors of my 2017 Toyota Tacoma. I kept the stock radio and was just looking for a better quality speaker. The stock speakers that Toyota puts in are extremely cheap. Installation was fairly easy and took about 3-4 hours. My only complaints were the bracket tabs needed to be cut so speakers would fit and the connectors were a little too small for the speakers. After all was done I was pleased with their performance. Obviously I'm not getting 100% out of the speakers with a stock radio but they do the trick.

Pros: Fairly easy installation

2016 Chevy Colorado . Great sound for the money . Replaced head unit first then wanted to add some better speakers before adding amp. Read some reviews first and most said good bass. I put these in the rear doors and a 10 inch sub down shooting box in rear. Wanted something to add some mid sub and mid level sound. These were just the ticket. The head unit gives lots of options for setting up the front and rear and sub crossovers individually so I had lots of adjustment options. These did just exactly what I wanted . Great mid bass , takes up where the 10 inch sub leaves off. Couldn't be happier. Kudos to the sales team , did a chat and got some recommendations and did the final decision based on the reviews. Super happy with the entire system , thanks Trish for helping , I didn't want someone to make a decision just some help narrowing things down. Great teamwork. Really gave me the options that made it happen , super super happy.

Pros: Cost and solid clean mid bass , well made , solid manufacturing.

Cons: none yet ,

Good For the Money

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Good mid range and highs. Clearer sound in all the mid and high range frequencies for the money. Definitely clearer and able to move faster than my 17 year old stock speakers (2000 4runner). Great for playing at high volumes. Only negative is that the bass performance is average. No real difference between that and stock sound for me. I don't care though because I have a sub-woofer, so these make a good, cheap upgrade for sound enhancement when paired with a woofer. Not bad performance for the price.

Pros: clear mid range and treble, handle songs well that have a lot going on, work well at high volumes.

Cons: No improvement in bass and lower frequency sound

Bought these to replace stock speakers in 2004 Chevy Colorado extended cab. Had to bend wiring connectors on the speaker because the angle was too shallow to connect the wiring harness. Had to drill holes in the door to mount. Thankfully it came with screws. Superglued some foam off of the old speakers to the back of new ones in a effort to reduce potential rattling. (Poorly executed). Sound-wise, they are better than the old speakers. The acoustics in the truck are bad, maybe its the headunit/amp.

Pros: Better than stock speakers. free shipping, came with screws and wiring harness

Cons: Doesn't fit in the exact same place as stock speakers. No foam or rubber to protect from shaking against metal door.

I've been doing custom stereos in my cars since 1996. That being said, these speakers went in my wife's completely stock 2011 Kia Optima without the Infinity system, as two of her door speakers had blown. The brackets Crutchfield provided made a good seal between the speaker and the door, and the speakers themselves sound amazing. I didn't unhook the separate tweeters in the dash of the car, so the setup had a lot of treble at first, but just turning the treble down on the factory radio handled that. The bass response in these speakers is very good considering they are being driven with only a factory head unit. I can turn the radio all the way to max, with the bass on 10, and the sound is nearly perfect. I think the bass is slightly better than what came in the car, and that was pretty good for a pair of paper cups with tiny magnets on the back. All in all, these were a great replacement and made the factory stereo sound much better. Add in a mid-powered sub in the trunk and you would have a really great sounding system.

Pros: Better bass Clearer highs Good vocal clarity

Cons: None

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I purchased 2 sets of these speakers for my 2005 Nissan Fuga (Infinity M35/45). I will have to review the speakers again once I add them to a line converter and amplifier. Right now I installed them using the adapters that Crutchfield provided. Install was okay, I had to modify a little to get them fit, but it was easy and quick. The magnets comparing to the OEM speakers are significant. The only problem that I have is the covers are made out of plastic and feel flimsy. So I decided not to use them, not just because of that. I'm going for a stealth look and just want to improve my sound system. As far as are they actually sound, I would say okay for now. I know my OEM head unit is limiting the output. That's why I'm waiting for my LC8i and my amplifier to get here before I can say more about the sound quality. Overall, I'm very happy with the choice that I made. And I'm glad I purchased them from Crutchfield. I will update after adding the line converter and amplifier.

Pros: Huge magnets comparing to my OEM speakers. Price is okay.

Cons: The covers don't really match the quality of the speakers.

For the size, I really love these speakers. Great output. The bass hits hard, but isn't as deep as I would like (though it is exactly what you should expect from this size of a speaker). I put these in the front doors of a Toyota Yaris, and unfortunately the speaker location is a little low on the door. These things still perform well enough to be loud and clear even from their low location. Other reviewers aren't lying: these things really do hit hard. I am happy for buying them, and Crutchfield provided excellent, easy installation instructions.

Pros: These are excellent speakers for the size. Don't expect a deep bass sound from any speaker this size. They have a clean, rich, and sharp sound.

Cons: No cons, unless you would want to say that the size is a con- which is unfair to the speaker.

The factory rear speakers were shot in my 2010 Silverado crew cab. I'm not the kind that needs audiophile grade sound in my truck, so I was just looking for speakers with better sound at a good price. Admittedly, I was interested in Kicker as they began in Stillwater, OK where I went to college. I did some homework and found that this speaker was designed specifically for use with factory stereos. They are easily driven by my factory stereo's power, but can small amp for even better sound. I installed them in all four doors. They provide plenty of volume, more mid bass punch, and improved separation of mid and high frequencies. The only reason I don't give them 5/5 is that they are made in China (what isn't), and the spade connectors are a bit flimsy. Overall, very good sound for a very good price. I'm very happy with them.

Pros: Good sound improvement over factory speakers. Well worth the price.

Cons: Made in China. Flimsy spade connectors.

Awesome speakers! I got this in replacement of my old Blaupunkt GT series component speakers for the rear doors of my 2007 Rav4. I heard instruments like I've never heard before from the old Blaupunkt speakers and the old Blaupunkt speakers I have were even component speakers. Very clear trebles and the bass is not that bad either.

Pros: Reasonable price for great quality speakers.

Cons: None.

These were used to replace the door panel speakers on my Camaro, which have a strange setup. The factory speakers are fed by 2 sets of wires; one for the tweeter and one for the midrange. These speakers only had on place to connect wires to, but the wires going to the tweeters on the speakers can be cut and connected directly to the tweeter wires coming from my stereo. I did this, and all seems to work well. It sounds similar to the factory speakers.

Pros: Good price, flat design, flexible installation.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Way better than factory. Good product just wish there was a little more bass. Otherwise fit perfectly n simple install. Had to cut car speaker covers were the top of speakers touch car speaker grill as they would not fit back on otherwise.

Pros: Easy install even though I had to cut grill

Cons: Needs a little more bass

Great Factory Upgrade!

Whitney from AZ on 8/31/2016

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

These were a great upgrade over my factory rear deck speakers! I can actually get clear bass, volume AND vocals in the back, too? What?!! True as one reviewer said, they would probably do better with a component amp. But my Pioneer double DIN (built in amp) seems to pushing all four Kickers nicely. No, they can't give me the full low end I want-- I will need a sub and amp for that. Installation was easy EXCEPT that on my Honda I did have to trim the factory rear deck speaker covers to get them back in place. They have an approx. 3/4 inch circular lip on the underside which matches with the factory speakers. The Kickers sit a bit too high (with or without boom mat, which I did use and like), and without using the included Kicker grills. I just sliced it off with a sharp knife to get the grill to lie flush in the deck and snap back into place. No biggie. (Yes, I could have just left the factory covers off and used the Kicker grills, but I live in a place where sun damage and theft are major issues. The factory covers are cheap insurance against both.)

Pros: Great upgrade Great price

Cons: May require simple adjustments for fit

New Focus 2016 Titanium with 10 speaker Sony system. Upgraded the 4 door speakers with these 6 ¾ Kickers. At first install was challenging because Ford modified the front door frame in the 2016 models. However, Tech Reps at Crutchfield were very helpful with suggestions to facilitate the install. Total install time for the 4 doors approx 6 hours. Significant improvement in an already great sounding system. Sound now brighter and cleaner. Very pleased with the improvement at a rather nominal cost. Factory amp easily powers the speakers.

Pros: Speaker sound is bright/vivid; good imaging. Very reasonable price. New speakers balance well with existing factory tweeters (4) and sub.

Cons: None

These are mediocre at best. They don't perform near as well as my stock ones in terms of clarity or low ranges. I will likely be in the market for better speakers soon. They would likely be great if used in conjunction with a subwoofer.

Pros: Easy installation

Cons: Poor clarity Lack of low range performance
