Our take on the Kicker Tabor HP402BT

Kicker proves that a quality pair of wireless headphones needn't break the bank. Their Tabor HP402BT headphones pair up to your smartphone or tablet via aptX, an advanced type of Bluetooth wireless streaming that provides a clearer audio signal. I listened wirelessly one night after dinner, and had no audio dropouts as I cleaned and swept around the kitchen. At one point I forgot I was wireless and walked out of the room. I got halfway down the hall before the music started cutting out.

More bang (plus Bluetooth® and bass) for your buck

Kicker proves that a quality pair of wireless headphones needn't break the bank. Their Tabor HP402BT headphones pair up to your smartphone or tablet via aptX, an advanced type of Bluetooth wireless streaming that provides a clearer audio signal. I listened wirelessly one night after dinner, and had no audio dropouts as I cleaned and swept around the kitchen. At one point I forgot I was wireless and walked out of the room. I got halfway down the hall before the music started cutting out.

When I'm doing chores, I prefer the comfort food of current hits and classic rock tunes. The familiar, energetic Kicker sound was on full display. I pumped the volume up and the 'phones handled it with ease. Oversized drivers deliver big, knocking bass, but not at the expense of the other frequencies. My music sounded clear and well-balanced, even as the lower frequencies flexed their muscles.

Tough look, relaxed fit

While they are large and rugged, the Tabor HP402BT headphones feel light when you wear them. They stayed in place as I nodded up and down without too much pressure on the sides of my head. Generous padding on the flexible headband and earpads cushioned all the right places and pressure points.

Clever earcup controls and a wired option if you need it

You can also take hands-free calls on your smartphone. Earcup buttons keep you in control, so you can answer and hang up, adjust the volume, as well as play, pause, and skip tracks. You get 10 hours of Bluetooth operation on a full charge, but if you ever need or want to listen wired, connect the included cable to your listening device's miniplug connection. The cable is flat and tangle-resistant with a one-button in-line mic remote for answering calls.

Do not buy this brand

Derek from Washington, DC on 12/28/2018

I have had two sets of kicker headphones and although the sound quality is great the durability in both pair was terrible. The first pair broke around the area where the headphones ear cushions are located. I assumed the fault was with me and that I had done something wrong which caused them to break. I was so pleased with the sound quality that after looking at other brands and the fact that I have purchased kicker auto subwoofers with no problems ever, I ordered another pair with a different model number. Although this model came with a different flat wired cable which appears to be more durable than the previous model I had, the new pair broke in about the same place. The design is flimsy and made of plastic which is not durable at all. I would steer clear of this brand until Kicker redesigns there headphones with durable material. I still have them and for some reason I can't bring myself to throw them out. Don't waste your money like I did!

Pros: Good sound quality.

Cons: Flimsy design and material.

Great sound!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love these. Definitely make a few heads turn and a bunch of questions always pop up and get the better of everyone's curiosity. High comfort level and great sounds at a low to moderate range especially coming from the maker of those huge speaker boxes. I am very impressed

Pros: Great sound, awesome looks, easy operation

Cons: Needs a longer cord and maybe a second cord with the large headphone connector. I hate keeping up with those small adapters.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Best headphones for the buck. Sound is great especially if you have an Android with an equalizer.

Pros: Sounds awesome at low levels. It was nice not to over pay. I love them!

Cons: The sound can be better. The buttons don't seem to be durable.

Kicker Tabor review

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

for the price, unbeatable. I love kicker everything and this Is no exception. one main flaw is the loud static in the background. see below for more.

Pros: ill start off with how loud they get, very impressive and loud with good bass reproduction. cheap so great for your money. nice design with comfort and controls. also cool kicker aux is included as well as usb to android cable.

Cons: 2 cons. constant static. when you're listening to music you cant hear it it's fine, but if there's no music or music is quiet its a real annoyance. 2nd, theyre bulky. they are kinda big and youre ears get hot, not too bad but enough for me to complain.

Bluetooth connectivity and sound leakage

Jimster716 from Los Angeles, CA on 8/11/2015

Headphones look good and come from a company known for some thump to your treble. Downsides: heavy, definitely feel them on your head. Bigger downsides: iPhone 6+ connectivity. Phone always says "Unable to connect" when I try to pair with the Tabor. I have to "Forget this device" and re-pair with the headphones. Another downside: Major sound leakage. Even when you close the earpads together, it doesn't take much volume to be able to hear what's playing inside the headphones. Coworkers laughed at me because they could hear what I was listening to even at a volume I thought would have been imperceptible.
