Connectivity to my head unit [ Jeremy  Apr 17, 2017 ]
A
This component was a natural choice because it allows me to maintain the integrity of the amplifier RCA inputs while using high-level inputs. This install is for a 2015 Honda Fit, and in order to retain reverse and lane watch functions the factory head unit must remain. The factory head unit will be replaced once a better option is available, and I want to retain the ability to use RCA inputs. [ Justin  Apr 11, 2017 ]

My 2017 Honda Civic doesn't have an adapter to convert to Line Level outputs. I'll be using this behind the factory radio to provide high level outputs to go to my Kicker Amp. The amp has a switch for a high or low level signal. Converting behind the radio and feeding with standard RCA cables will allow me to utilize a PAC-Audio adaptor for line level outputs as soon as they make one. [ James  Mar 13, 2017 ]

Routing a stock stereo to an amplifier using the speaker level inputs. This seemed to be the simplest way to go. In the past, you'd have to buy an entirely separate crossover module to do the exact same thing. [ Russell  Dec 29, 2015 ]

Q
Will this work going from a bare-wire connection output on an amp to an RCA input on a subwoofer?
[ Joel  Oct 15, 2018 ]
1 answer
A
I can't say "Yes" definitively, but it should work. I'm using the Kicker KISL to go from a low level (RCA) output on my receiver to a high level (speaker) input on my Kicker sub. The adapter simply converts low-level signals to high-level signals and shouldn't know (or care) which direction the signal is traveling. The way I see it, the KISL is simply stepping impedance up or down depending on the direction of current flow. You may want to see if others agree before trying this, as I am not a electronics person by trade.

[ Kenny  Jun 07, 2018 ]

The left & right RCAs provide their own positive & negative leads so, no; they do not share a common ground.

It says do not connect negative speaker wire to rca shield in my Fosgate Prime manual or it may cause damage to amp or head unit.So to make sure I understand this correctly I only connect positive wires and what exactly do I do with negative wires then?

A
I tested with an L.E.D. and a battery, an L.E.D. will only light when positive and negative are connected correctly. The blue wire is the prong and grey the ring. The blue is the signal (+) and grey the shield (-).
[ Ed  Oct 18, 2015 ]
A
doesn't matter due to the faze switch on sub, can change the polarity.but both do need to be wired the same.If their is a black line on each set then use it as neg. and other as poss. if sub. doesn't sound right turn sys vol. down and switch faze switch should improve.
[ TERRY A  Jan 13, 2014 ]
A
Negative-black
[ JEFF  Jan 13, 2014 ]
A
I use the blue as positive. You can use either as long as you are consistent Always positive to positive between devices urging the color as positive makes it easier to remember. Good luck
[ HOWARD  Jan 13, 2014 ]
A
The common color on each plug is the negative{-}. Obviously the different colors on each plug are the positive{+}. I only know this because I had to ohm them out for myself. It would be nice if they were marked - & +.
[ RANDALL  Jan 13, 2014 ]
A
Usually the wire with the black stripe is neg
[ HAROLD  Jan 13, 2014 ]
A
I used the blue as the positive connection.
