Built-in toughness

The woofer's forged aluminum frame and Santoprene™ rubber surround handle high-level playback, while keeping the cone on track. The injection-molded SoloKon™ polypropylene cone features special back bracing for strength and responsiveness. And the UniPlate™ back plate and pole piece are made as a single, solid unit to allow heat to escape the motor. Translation? Kicker designed this sub to take some serious punishment.

Top of the line

Kicker Q-Class products incorporate cutting-edge technologies and superb construction to deliver an extraordinary musical experience in your vehicle. These products are only sold by select dealers chosen by Kicker.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 700 and 1350 watts RMS at 1 or 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Best Kicker sub period

Hands down the best L7 ever made. Bought this sub, to replace 12 w3. And extremely happy with 1 sub upgrade. Extremely loud and actually has good sound quality. Have the original L7 from years ago , and these are built a lot better and sound a lot better. Now the price is down from 500 to 300 you will not find another 12 that can do the same in output or quality. Not sure who the other person or what he did wrong with install but I can not be happier. 4th order bandpass for the install, mmats1000.2 for the sub.

Pros: Improved sound quality. Louder than you would ever want

Cons: Zero

Go 4 ohm don't do the 2

I bought the 4 ohm version and the 2 ohm. The 4 ohm version separated the cone from the coil in 50 days. While waiting on kicker to decide if they will replace it or not, I bought a back up. I went with the 2 ohm. I can barely hear any bass out of the 2 ohm. The 4 ohm was awesome. I have wired them in both configurations and still no good results with 2 ohm. You can feel things vibrating but no real bass. What bass you do hear is real flappy. Go 4 ohm definitely!!

Pros: none

Cons: expensive, flappy bass, poor sound quality

Product Research

Features

Square Design: By making the cone square, Kicker is giving you the most possible cone area (Sd) for a given size baffle, 16% to 20% more area than a conventional round subwoofer. More cone area means the cone moves more air, resulting in louder, deeper bass.

Dual Voice Coils: For increased system flexibility, the woofer has two 2Ω voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 1Ω load; when wired in series, the woofer presents a 4Ω load.

Terminals: The spring post terminals will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs (but not dual), and bare wire up to 8 gauge.

Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker L7 woofers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum bass response. The high-performance suspension system makes the speakers very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately two weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. A broken-in subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

Sealed Enclosure: A sealed enclosure design gives the smoothest response with increased energy at the lowest frequencies (between 20 and 30 Hz).

  • Minimum Volume: 1 ft³
  • Maximum Volume: 2 ft³

Vented Enclosure: A vented enclosure design increases efficiency relative to sealed enclosures.

  • Minimum Volume: 1.75 ft³ with a 2½" x 13¼ x 22½" slot port
  • Maximum Volume: 3.25 ft³ with a 3" x 13¼" x 14½" slot port

Cutout: The woofer will not mount in a standard enclosure with a round cutout. Instead, the woofer must be mounted in an enclosure with a 11.017" x 11.017" square opening.
