Our take on the Terk Omni Tower

Terk's Omni Tower can hide in plain sight — it doesn't look like a conventional TV antenna. It doesn't perform like one, either. The Omni Tower can pull in free over-the-air HDTV broadcasts from multiple directions, so you don't have to move it to pick up signals from different TV towers.

Terk's patent pending 360° multi-directional design improves performance without having to make adjustments when you change channels. It can pull in stations in the UHF and high-band VHF ranges (channels 7-51).

OK but not Great

Win from Ocean Park, ME on 12/4/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Works OK for some NOT all local channels. This was the 2nd indoor antenna that I tried. The nice feature is that it is unobtrusive and easy to reposition.

Pros: Size

Cons: limited reception.

Very nice design and appearance. Fits nicely behind flat screen without needing much room. Gets more channels than I expected and I live in a rural area. Super easy to set up. Will be purchasing 2 more.

The tower works great in the northern forests of New England, where line-of- sight to transmitters is limited. We get a strong, clear signal and a great picture.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After the cable company kept inching up the bill for a year, the final nail in the coffin was when they increased it 30%. I looked around at antennas and settled on this one as it did not look bad as a unit overall, and had other decent reviews. I like the picture quality. (I bought the LTE filter with it too.) I mounted it high on a shelf in the corner of the room. Letting the TV roam through the channels took longer than install. I did have to purchase a cord extension because of where i mounted this, but that was only pennies. It looks better than the flat antennas that hang on the wall, and when one is renting, one can't install a roof mounted antenna. I would recommend this unit.

Disappointed

John E from St. Louis Area on 6/15/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This did not improve my reception for antenna TV, over my cheap Rabbet ears I purchased locally at a big box discount retailer. I'm keeping it because it looks better than the rabbet ears in my living room. I just have to move it around the room whenever I change the channel. That isn't what I expected for this product that has a plug in booster included.

Pros: Looks cool

Cons: Doesn't solve my reception problems.

Good reception out of the box!

Kimatron from Central Point, OR on 6/11/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I really considered 5 stars. I haven't spent enough time moving it around to different locations to see if I can get more channels. But all the channels we do get so far are crystal clear!! We haven't cut the cable cord yet as its baseball season and not ready to lose half our games. Very pleased with the Terk Omni Tower and considering at least one more for the bedroom, and maybe the workshop.

Pros: Easy to locate channels, great HD picture, simple to install, didn't need to be in a window!!

Cons: Wish it brought in more channels.

I thought I would give this a shot because rabbit ears were not doing it for me, always having to adjust their direction. This item works better, but is not a cure all.

Pros: Cleaner look Better than rabbit ears

Cons: Thin coax cable connection to TV

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Terk Omni Tower is a great antenna for anyone looking to cut the cable cord. We live about 8 miles from most of our areas broadcast antennas so we get a good signal on all channels. We recently cut the cable cord and so far we don't miss it at all. Picture quality has not suffered at all. Just like having cable but without the monthly bill. Wish I had done this years ago.

The Turk works

Joe from Cheney, WA on 3/24/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Turk Omni Tower works well without the need for Rabbit Ear adjustment. I live about 15 miles from the city and I can pick up most channels without the need for gain. The reason for the one star ding is the very thin coaxial cable.

Pros: No Rabbit Ears, Looks cool

Cons: Coaxial cable is very thin

Excellent quality antenna for reasonable price

Jean from Mebane, NC on 3/17/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Strong signals, picks up more stations than higher-priced Terk antenna, no readjusting with channel changes, good price for quality antenna

Pros: Lightweight, no constant readjusting ears.

I purchased this antenna because I was sick of dealing with rabbit ears. The best part of it is that I don't have to readjust the antenna every time I wanted to change the channel. So far so good.

Works great! Pulls in more channels and the signals remain strong and steady. Worth the extra money for the amplified signal and multi directional. Much better than the low priced antenna from the big box stores.

Features

Amplified Multi-Directional Indoor Antenna: The Terk Omni receives TV broadcasts including 4K and 1080 HDTV for the highest-quality picture and sound, both UHF (470-698MHz) and VHF (174-216MHz) stations. Its patent pending 360° Multi-Directional design improves performance without having to make adjustments when changing channels. Innovative dual-stage amplifier technology boosts the signal at the antenna and boosts the signal again near your TV.

Amplifier Settings: The amplifier has a 3-way switch (Dual/Preamp/Bypass) that lets you adjust the amplifier for different TV signals. The "Dual" position uses both external amplifier and the preamp built into the antenna itself. The "Preamp" position uses just the preamp. The "Bypass" position turns all amplification off. Most TV channels will perform better with this switch left in the "Dual" position. However, if a channel is not providing the performance you expect, try watching it with this switch in the "Preamp" or "Bypass" position to see if that makes a difference.

Antenna Placement: Place the antenna on a flat surface within reach of your TV, facing the direction where most of your broadcast towers are located. Place the antenna close to in a window if possible, and position it as high as possible. Avoid placing the antenna on a metal surface.

Power Requirements: The Terk Omni features an external power adapter that will need to be plugged into an AC wall outlet or surge protector.

Chose it because is omni-directional, which I am hoping means it can sit behind the tv or speaker (out of sight). Tired of seeing the cable and the 12x12 flat antenna hanging from the patio door. [ corey  Nov 11, 2018 ]

This is our second Channel Master DVR.. We decided that we did not want to transport our original unit to and from our homes and set them up whenever we moved so we ordered a new unit. We cannot live without them! They work well in the city and in the country where our signal is weak. Hence I ordered the tower antenna to try and improve our reception.. [ Arthur S.  Jun 27, 2018 ]

For the longer distance (65 miles) it's best to use an outdoor, long range, directional antenna model. If you want to use the same antenna for signals from multiple directions, you'll also want to add a rotor to adjust the antenna's position based on the desired channel. I've looked through all the details we have for the range. I cannot find any mention. Usually, multi-directional antennas like this have a maximum range of 20-40 miles for the stations they can pull in. I'd recommend contact Terk on 800-645-4994 to see if they have more specific information on its range. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101 [ Paul  Jan 15, 2018 ]  Staff
