Ordered these in 2017 and one finally blew in 2023. They are fantastic speakers for the price. I'd recommend them to anyone who is looking to upgrade, but my have a tight budget.

Pros: Cheap sounds decent Lasted awhile

Pair this with an amplifier and you'd be forgiven for thinking these speakers were much more expensive. Warm sound but not overly colored, just gently warm from reference. And with an amp it does midbass really well. Even without an amp these will sound as good or better than speakers twice its price.

Pros: Punches way above its class

Cons: For the price? None that I can think of

Installed in rear doors of a 2022 Subaru Outback. Probably completely unnecessary but they did make a slight difference to my ears when sitting in the back seat. A little better bass and a clearer vocals but they are definitely overwhelmed by the dash speakers and the front 6x9s so they're just filler for me.

These speakers sound way better than they have a right to give their low cost. I installed these in the rear doors of my Frontier to compliment the set of Tempo Ultra components I have been running in the front for the past year. I was immediately surprised at the difference these speakers made over stock with the detail and punch to the midbass in my truck. The speakers offer a great all around sounds, and were well worth the upgrade over stock. My only regret at this point is that I waited a year to get these after installing the front speakers last year.

I'm using these as "fill" speakers in the rear doors of a 2022 Subaru Outback. They are being powered by two channels of a Kicker KEY 200.4 amplifier. I'm probably under utilizing the speakers in this application but they are a fine compliment to the Morel Tempo separates in the front. They were installed using the Metra brackets supplied by Crutchfield. Installation is straightforward. The speakers come with grilles for surface mounting. I used NVX baffles with the speakers and no modifications were required to either the baffles or the brackets to make the speakers fit.

My mentor told me about these speakers, and it took over 25 years for me to listen. Diamond Audio was my first choice, followed by MB Quart. MB Quart is great, and my Diamond Audio set was the best, but these paired with the Maximo 6.5 component and Alpine amp....I am hearing sounds in songs I never heard before...and it's so smooth. No distortion from the mid bass, and the silk tweeters speak for themselves...so very happy with my purchase. IF....if I ever changed speakers, it would be for the next level up. I am with Morel forever!

Pros: Sound even better than my past favorite Diamond Audio speakers. Excellent price. Relatively small magnet, yet produces big sound. Smaller magnet makes them easier to install in small places.

Cons: Ha!

This speakers are a pleasure to hear I am hearing instruments I wasn't hearing before very subtle. Music sounds more natural, bass is not bad could be better but then again I recommend setting crossover above 200 hz. I am using a DQ61 (dsp) made a huge difference speakers come to live more dynamic over all they sound amazing for their price. Paired with Boston acoustic -42 , 75 watts per channel. Tweeters sound balanced not too bright

Pros: Very natural sound Tweeters sound balanced Mids are great recommend with amp to wake them up

Cons: Bass could be a bit better but not bad I am using a subwoofer that takes care of the missing bass.

Bought these cause they had 90 plus reviews. Going from some 7 year old Focal $100 entry level speakers that were starting to crackle into these. Gave them 2-3 hours of burn in time tonight running an Audison processor going to a 5 channel JL amp with a 10w3. First response is no real warmth. Nothing really impressive. Think of that plain looking girl at the grocery store no one looks at. As sad as it sounds it reminds me of $69 kickers in the doors of my beater Chevy work truck on a factory head unit from 10 years ago. With the name of Morel I expected more. I will give them a week of listening and if they don't warm up I think they will go back.

Pros: Name and the wiring terminals

Cons: No warmth. Touch and feel pulling them out of the box didn't feel quality. Sound isn't really impressing me yet.

Excellent speakers for the price. The Morels sound just as good if not better than my Type R's that I have in my other vehicle. Installation was a breeze (Crutchfield makes it incredibly easy) and the build quality is stellar. I also housed the Maximo's in some Boom Mat speaker baffles which added a bit more sub isolation and will keep the speakers protected from the elements.

Pros: Perfectly balanced sound and solid build quality.

Great upgrade over stock especially for the price. Upon reading the reviews, and talking to someone on the forums with them, I figured I would try them in my front doors. They are way better than stock, especially for the price. But as others have stated they are much better as fillers for the rear deck. There are some glaring issues will sound reproduction in some songs that sounds like static. It's not apparent in other songs. That being said same song sounded horrendous with stock speakers, so these are still a vast improvement. Probably going to throw these in the rear deck and go with a different set for the fronts.

Verified employee review (What's this?)

These speakers sound amazing, and I haven't even amped them, yet. ---Combined with the components up front. The dynamic of sound is way , way better than OEM. Bass is very accurate, dynamic, moving; tweeters are soft, accurate, clear, clean; combined with the components and the $114 Pioneer HU I put in, the stereo reproduction is something I would expect in a studio or very good headphones. --Rec. soldering connectors or something else because the connectors, while very nice, are just simply too fragile.

Pros: --very dynamic sound reproduction --accurate --exceptional value for the price --easy install with adapters that come with them

Cons: --screws are too small. --after screwing in speaker, the frame around the surround deforms too easily --rather fragile speakers --tinsel leads could be stronger --speaker wire connectors are very cool but too small. use 2 hands or you will bust the connector right off the speaker

Verified employee review (What's this?)

I am using these as my rear speakers. With my factory stereo in my 2015 Outback, I never really paid attention to them. When I replaced them with these, boy what a HUGE difference that made... I can actually hear them!! Sound quality is excellent. I can't believe these were so cheap. But Morel's reputation was very good, so I went with them to match the Maximo 6 components in the front. Give it matching sound! Well these play quite well with the components. They don't quite have the bass the components have, but the mids and treble are nearly as good. Probably because they don't have a crossover. Either way, they work excellent with my Kicker amp but they blend in with the fronts creating a sound that I've only had with headphones. The enveloping sound but with a wide soundstage (I use Grado headphones). I could only imagine the really expensive Morel's sound quality... These are wonderful esp at this price range! Sound quality is pretty damn good for being so cheap, no distortion even at high levels (albeit I don't crank bass). I like flat response from my speakers and these don't disappoint! So my EQ is usually a flat line with the treble lowered a tad. I have sensitive ears when it comes to the higher KHz.

Pros: Sound quality is amazing at this price range. The details like crisp cymbals or the plucking of an acoustic guitar are quite realistic! For being rear speakers, this brought out a lot more of my music when complimented with Maximo 6 components!

Cons: Not as bassy as the components. A crossover would improve the overall sound but that is not common with co-axial speakers.

Warm, powerful, and clear. These were the only speakers that didn't make my ears hurt at high volumes. Solid upgrade over stock

Verified employee review (What's this?)

These are a solid replacement for any stock speaker. I replaced all of the stock speakers in my 2009 Subaru Forrester with the Morel Maximo Coax 6 speakers, and I am very pleased. The install was straight forward (especially with the speaker mount and instructions from Crutchfield) and these speakers fit perfectly. I was worried that they might be too deep, but the speaker mount keeps the magnet out of the way from the window. All in, it took me an hour to replace all speakers. I'm still using the stock Subaru CD player to drive these speakers, but at ~7 watts per channel, it is woefully underpowered. The sound quality of the speakers is amazing: crisp and bright, but not to tinny. Lots of detail and clarity to the instruments. Light on bass, but that's partially a result of using the weak amp of the stock radio. Going to upgrade the head unit and considering a subwoofer.

Pros: Unbeatable build quality Easy install Bright and clear

Cons: Requires strong amp Light on the low end

Hooked it up to a Pioneer NEX head unit with no amp, sound quality was top notch in our 2010 Subaru Forester. I can only imagine how even greater these would sound when paired with an amplifier. Included harness made it a truly Plug and Play affair. Will be getting another pair for the rear doors.

Pros: Easy install, amazing sound even without an amplifier.

Cons: Included brackets were not the best fit, but was able to make it work.

I installed the 6.5" version of these in a 2017 Ford Mustang with the 12 speaker setup, in the rear deck and front door. You are paying for a good speaker, not a great speaker. And that is what you get. Decent clarity, and an improvement over stock, but with a harshness that never fully goes away. I wouldn't spend more than a bill on a set of these. The sound of these speakers has a surprising amount of sub-bass for a 6.5" speaker. It actually helps out the sub in the trunk. However, with emitters of bona fide sub-bass all over your car you can expect it to find any little rattle or flaw in your installation. I had to tear it apart again on a mission to find rattles. Even with that, at high volume levels the front door speakers are contacting the factory grill. I am not too happy about that but I might just live with this rather than actually fix it. I used the factory amp. The volume is lower than stock, but not a dealbreaker. This was expected. The included adapters needed some TLC with a Dremel tool to fit the speakers and to route the speaker wires through the adapter. You won't be able to use them as is.

Mounted in front door of 2013 Camry with Metra 82-8150 6.5 to 6x9 adapters, driving with Alpine MRV-F300. Not a lot of bass (below about 200Hz) but it could be due to the application. Very clean and reasonably efficient. Others describe as warm and I will say the mids and uppers mids are pleasant, which is what I wanted out of my door speakers. Satisfied - would've given 5 stars if more 100-200Hz but again it may be the application.

These are really excellent speakers. Directly compared them to the JBL club, rockford fosgate and the component versions and these are the ones I stuck with for my 2016 Civic LX sedan. I bought these to replace the component versions of the same ones which were tok bright and fatiguing to listen to. If you have sensitive hearing and a small car, components may not be right for you. Keep in mind that unless you want to get tons of rattle from shaking your doors, pair these with a sub to get any real bass / low-end.

Pros: Easy to install Great sound Works with wide range of wattage

Cons: Mounting screws are a bit long and should come with optional shorter ones

I bought these for the front and rear doors for my 2017 Prius. They were very easy to install. When I heard them for the first time I was very impressed with the musical reproduction. I listen to everything from Bach to Taj Mahal, M&M to Lyle Lovett. The bass was low and tight (Alpine 45 watt amp w/high pass at 60hz). The mids and highs are balanced and silky smooth. Crutchfield supplied everything I needed for a straight forward, easy installation. The Crutchfield price for these are significantly lower than every where else that I looked-plus you get five star customer service from the outstanding staff. Morel Maximo's will be my first choice for any future upgrades.

Verified employee review (What's this?)

The Morel speakers were an unknown brand to me until this purchase. I bought two pair of the 6.5's and put them in the doors of my new 2018 F150 supercab. I checked the reviews and felt good in making this purchase. I would like to prepare other Ford truck owners that are considering these speakers as a factory upgrade, they are in for a little more work than normally expected with the Crutchfield installation hardware. I had to use a Dremel on the ribs of the front door speaker brackets so the assembly would fit in the door speaker holes. I had to use the same tool on the speaker adapters for the rear doors so the speakers would actually fit inside the adapters, then find larger screws to secure the speaker into the adapters. The wiring harness adapters were trouble free, but I do recommend using weather strip foam around the adapter to ensure better sound and no chance of vibration. I have made several purchases from Crutchfield and have always been "five star satisfied", but because of the extra work with the Dremel, this one is four stars. The speakers carry great sound and clarity and are a major upgrade from the stock speakers that will only take a couple hours for someone lightly experienced. I highly recommend these speakers for this application, although I do wish I would have gotten 6X9's for the front doors instead of the 6.5's. Now I'm preparing to buy the 3.5 inch speaker pair to replace the center dash speaker.

Pros: Great improvement in sound without adding any kind of sub or amp to the factory 8" screen stereo system.

Cons: Mounting brackets included require some extra work with a Dremel or similar tool to get things to fit. I recommend drilling a small hole in adapters for wiring routing.

Initially had planned to install the tweeters in the factory location in the dash but decided to install them in the sail panels on the doors when it became apparent that the Morel crossover needed to be installed in the door. As it turned out this was a great decision because they not only look good with the included Morel mini-housings but SOUND GREAT! One of the better brands of entry level speakers out there. These split up the sound stage nicely. I hear all of the elements of the music very easy and they are not colored at all. I have 2 pairs of these installed in an 2016 F-150 P/U, front and rear. They play off of the OEM head unit fine, but really do need some amplification. They are rated at -91db sensitivity so they are quite efficient. I do notice though, that for the same volume output, they are quieter than the stock speakers, but not by much. They definitely sound better at higher volumes. My only qualm is not with the speakers but the tech sheet provided by Crutchfield for my vehicle. I feel there is MORE research needed for my particular vehicle as the disassembly sheet recommended tools that in my opinion should not be used when working with interior plastics and moldings; and in one case there was no way to follow the sheet with the tool recommended, there would have been significant damage if followed.

Pros: Great imaging, clarity, sound separation is excellent.

Cons: Not as loud as stock speakers, bit only by a little bit. Is this really a CON?

They sound better than the stock, of course, but I will have to wait until Crutchfield gets in the AudioControl D-4.800 Amp/EQ in that I want so I can get my bass back (new stock auto stereos attenuate the bass as you increase the volume to protect their stock speakers) and see how they can handle power on the low end. I bought my first amp from Crutchfield back in 1982, so I have been doing this long enough to know to wait until you hear them amplified and equalized for the car interior to judge quality.

Pros: Appear to be a great value.

Cons: None found yet.

I replaced my Infinity front door speakers with these for 2013 Kia Optima. They sound good but they definitely don't match the sound quality of the factory speakers.

Solid all around sound. Bought some mtx365s and im way more satisfied with the Morels! I moved the mtx's to the back doors. Morels have a more crisp sound imo! 2007 Tahoe

Pros: Hardest part of install was getting the door panels off. Speakers went right in

Cons: None

You'll be shocked at the quality of these entry level Morel's

As a first time purchaser and listener of Morel speakers I didn't expect to be too impressed with these entry level coaxials. Boy was I wrong. Running 4 of these off the stock HU in a 2012 Honda Accord Sedan and they sound gorgeous. Highs blend in well. Mids are pronounced yet soft. Lows are extremely impressive (better than the Alpine Type R's and Infinity Kappas' which are held in high regard for their ability to produce good lows). Would have loved to hear these on my JL XD1000/5v2 and Kenwood KDX-x701 after a proper RTA/tune but I had to switch everything back to stock and these fit the bill in more ways than one. After getting a taste of what their entry level sounds like I can't wait to here something higher up in their line-up. Will definitely be looking into Morel first for future installs. The lip is very thin. With the mounting holes being right on the edge and there being a raised 1mm lip around the edge it makes even proper sized screws just barely fit flush once screwed all the way down. The inherently cheap design of the surround being glued right next to mounting holes is common with entry level speakers but was surprisingly not as bad as something like the JL C2-650X speaker which is impossible to mount without tearing up the surround. Because the basket on this speaker is a bit wider than most it will need a minimum mounting width of 5.625" (5 5/8")

Pros: Sound quality, build quality, packaging, small form factor, mounting depth is semi-shallow, and this is going to sound weird but I like the way they smell :)

Cons: Not crazy about the design of the edge of the basket/lip but you have to expect them to make a cut somewhere to get the price down. Just happy it was with something physical and not something that affected the amazing sound quality you get with these. Nothing to do with the speaker itself and Crutchfield threw these in for free but the "Metra 72-7800" speaker adapters are unusable. The terminals are too tight to apply to a speaker terminal but the "HSB524" brackets they included were perfect.

Just installed these in my 2016 mustang and might I just say, WOW! I am still running the factory head unit power and there was a huge difference in clarity and mid bass. I can't wait to get my Hertz amp on these.

These speakers are simply amazing. They sound warm and crisp and never harsh. They sound awesome but you definitly want them hooked up to an amp. You dont need to go crazy, im only running 45 rms to each from an alpine amp and they are perfect. If you value sound quality morel is the way to go.

Pros: Sound quality

Cons: Absolutly nothing
