About the Morel Ultimo Titanium 102
Winner of the 2014-15 EISA best subwoofer of the year award, the Ultimo Titanium subwoofer exemplifies Morel's dedication to engineering and innovation in pursuit of musical excellence. The Ultimo Titanium 102 10" sub features a huge 5.1" external voice coil wound from thick Hexatech™ aluminum wire on a titanium former, all designed to improve the dynamics of this driver for more accurate response. The highly efficient double ferrite magnet motor maximizes efficiency, while a unique spider/surround design ensures flat response even at the highest output levels.
This sub's composite cone gives you the musicality of paper with the durability of carbon fiber.
This sub's composite cone gives you the best of both worlds – the musicality of paper with the durability of carbon fiber. Housed in a heavy-duty stamped steel basket, this cone achieves the rigidity you need for strong bass output while retaining a warm, natural sound. Handling up to 1000 watts RMS, this Ultimo Titanium delivers high-fidelity bass that stays true even when you push your system hard. The European Imaging & Sound Association (EISA) panel summed it up best: “Well-suited for compact boxes, this is one of the best subwoofers available, offering a combination of power and sound quality rarely seen in a single product.”
To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 750 and 1500 watts RMS at 2 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Morel Ultimo Titanium 102 reviews
I have experienced several brand name woofers from 150watts to 500watts and now this morel 1000watt woofer and i found that my desire to experience music as it should be experienced has now came to be. With the addition of this woofer to my component audio system the results this woofer produces has completed the sound mix that i was listening for . Following the requirements that morel sugested for box fill and optima proformance and eliminating destortion from the mono amp has this woofer producing unbelieviabe killer bass. When at first i tried the sealed enclosure set up , i could not hear the drum skin sound that i was longing to hear but when i set the woofer enclosure up as a ported enclosure with the 3" port opening as sugested by morel specs and using a fiberglass box enclosure witth correct box volume i can say this woofer mades all the difference in obtaining true drum sound reproduction . I have cranked up this 1000 watt rms woofer with a fosgate 750 watt mono amp for extended periods of time , playing it for as long as 45 minutes at a time and it lives well as does the marine mono amp.
Pros: power handling is excellent!!!!!!!!!sound reproduction is excellent and spot on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Cons: fitting this in some enclosures for its size can be challenging but worth it !

I've been waiting a little while to write this review, because I wanted to wait and see if the Morel would show some flaws. I have yet to find any, which is good considering the steep cost. As far as sound quality, this thing is very impressive to say the least. But, it also does a very nice job hitting the low notes, which makes it a true no compromise speaker. My personal setup is more about function, so while I know I could get slightly better range, having it off the floor matters more to me. When tested with a tone generator, it performed excellent all the way down to 25hz with little drop off. It's audible down to a solid 20hz, but with considerable drop-off past the 25hz range. I am sure this could be improved with a proper enclosure, but it sounds so good as is, I am amazed for a 10" speaker. Currently being fed 1000 watts via an Alpine PDX. My enclosure is a fiberglass JL Stealthbox, designed for a 12W1V2, I believe (older version). The whole carbon fiber laminate looks as cool as it sounds and I must mention the included grill. The thing is beefy! It also looks cool, but is extremely rigid. I usually don't use grills with subwoofers, but it just works with the unique look. This subwoofer is the real deal and I've been through many in 25 years. I had to deduct one star on value, even though I am not remorseful. No matter how you stack it, the price is tough to justify for one woofer. Still, I am glad I did, you will be too!
Pros: The full package, SQ with solid lows and amazing accuracy.
Cons: The price isn't for the faint of heart.

Sealed Box: Morel recommends sealed enclosure sizes from 12 liters (0.42 ft³) to 50 liters (1.77 ft³). Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable for all types of music.
Ported Box: Morel recommends ported enclosure sizes from 15 liters (0.53 ft³) to 50 liters (1.77 ft³). Two ported enclosure volume options are listed in the manual; 25 liters (0.88 ft³) with one 7.5cm (3") diameter x 40cm (15.75") long port and 35 liters (1.24 ft³) with one 7.5cm (3") diameter x 35cm (13.78") long port. Ported (or vented) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed, so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. However, this efficiency comes at the expense of very low frequency output.
