Installing this camera yourself? Here's what you should know.

What does it do? Unless otherwise noted, a backup camera is only intended for use backing up your vehicle. (If you require a front-view or constant rear-view camera, check for that capability.)

What tools and supplies will I need? A panel tool, a wire cutter/stripper, a soldering iron, and a rosin-core solder with heat shrink tubing are recommended, along with whatever tools are needed to remove the radio from the dash.

How much wiring is required? Wiring instructions vary from camera to camera. Some cameras have power wiring that can only be connected near the radio. Others let you power the camera at compatible reverse lights. In all cases, the camera must be wired for power and ground, the camera's video output must be connected to the radio/monitor, and the radio/monitor must be connected to a reverse trigger in your vehicle. Some radio replacement interfaces supply a reverse trigger wire for the radio -- using that wire to power your camera will damage the interface.

Will the included video cable be long enough? You'll need to route the camera's video cable from its mounting location outside your vehicle into your vehicle's cabin and all the way to the screen in the dash. This often requires drilling a small hole in your vehicle or filing some metal and or plastic. You'll also need to estimate the length of cable needed to run from the camera to the dash, which will not be a straight shot. Each camera's cable length is listed.

Product Research

Features

Overview: Brandmotion's 9002-9560 rear-view camera system features a replacement tailgate-handle bezel with an integrated Panasonic OEM-grade rear-view camera along with all the necessary wiring. The camera kit is designed for 2007-2013 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks equipped with an aftermarket in-dash video headunit (sold separately).

Note: This rearview camera kit is meant as a back-up aid only; never solely rely on the rearview camera when backing-up. In addition to using the rearview camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.

Camera: The replacement tailgate handle bezel includes a built-in 1/4" Panasonic CCD color camera, with automatic white balance and electronic auto iris. This high-resolution camera offers a wide-angle view with approximately 150˚ of horizontal and 100˚ of vertical coverage area and excellent depth of field. The camera features a waterproof case with anti-fog lens and has a minimum illumination of 3 lux. The camera's viewing angle is not adjustable.

Compatibility: The Brandmotion 9002-9560 kit is designed specifically to replace the factory tailgate-handle bezel on 2007-2013 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierras equipped with an aftermarket in-dash video screen headunit (sold separately).

Note: This camera system is not compatible with factory OEM in-dash DVD and navigation radios.

Authentic OEM Factory Replacement Tailgate Bezel: The Brandmotion 9002-9560 features an authentic OEM factory replacement tailgate handle bezel, with a matte-black finish, that will take the place of your truck's factory installed tailgate handle bezel. The backup camera is integrated into the bezel to the left of the pull-handle.

Installation: The Brandmotion replacement bezel is designed to fit in the same location as the factory bezel, while retaining the original handle and latching mechanism. The included 24' loomed composite video cable includes pre-installed heavy duty rubber grommets for a water-tight seal where the cable passes through the bottom of the tailgate and into the bottom of the truck bed. The replacement bezel also features a pre-cut hole to accommodate a factory tailgate lock tumbler. The included keyhole-cap can be used to fill this in if no lock is present with the vehicle.

Note: Installation requires permanent holes to be drilled in the tailgate and truck bed. Professional installation is recommended.

Wiring: The included 24' video cable is terminated in a composite video connector that's designed to plug into most aftermarket DVD and navigation radio's rear-camera input. A 70" set of bare-ended wires for power, ground, and reverse signal extend from the composite video end of the cable for attachment to the vehicle's wiring.

Has the distance lines but you have to set it up. To set it up you have to put power to one of the wires. Can't remember what wire. Hopefully you're good wiring
