Add two views and keep your radio
Add two views and keep your radio
Brandmotion's SUTV-8859 camera system integrates two cameras into the rugged design of your Jeep Wrangler and displays everything it sees on the 6.1" MyGig factory touchscreen radio. The included interface switches between a front and backup cam as needed. When you're traveling forward under 7 MPH, the front camera automatically provides a view of the rocks and stumps in your path. Over 7 MPH, that view is on demand when you used the included toggle switch. When you shift your Wrangler into reverse, the backup cam's 170°-wide view makes obstacles easy to spot. Infrared capability gives you a clearer, more detailed rear-view video image at night.
Custom-fit for your spare
Brandmotion includes a license plate mount for the front camera and an adjustable bracket and camera head extension piece for the backup cam. You can mount that backup camera between the spokes of a wide variety of rear-mounted spare tires, including aftermarket tires. You'll also find the wiring harness needed for factory integration as well as a handy module that plugs into your Jeep's OBD-II port and reprograms the factory radio to be compatible with the cameras.
Installing this camera yourself? Here's what you should know.
What does it do? Unless otherwise noted, a backup camera is only intended for use backing up your vehicle. (If you require a front-view or constant rear-view camera, check for that capability.)
What tools and supplies will I need? A panel tool, a wire cutter/stripper, a soldering iron, and a rosin-core solder with heat shrink tubing are recommended, along with whatever tools are needed to remove the radio from the dash.
How much wiring is required? Wiring instructions vary from camera to camera. Some cameras have power wiring that can only be connected near the radio. Others let you power the camera at compatible reverse lights. In all cases, the camera must be wired for power and ground, the camera's video output must be connected to the radio/monitor, and the radio/monitor must be connected to a reverse trigger in your vehicle. Some radio replacement interfaces supply a reverse trigger wire for the radio -- using that wire to power your camera will damage the interface.
Will the included video cable be long enough? You'll need to route the camera's video cable from its mounting location outside your vehicle into your vehicle's cabin and all the way to the screen in the dash. This often requires drilling a small hole in your vehicle or filing some metal and or plastic. You'll also need to estimate the length of cable needed to run from the camera to the dash, which will not be a straight shot. Each camera's cable length is listed.

Jeep Wrangler Camera Kit: The BrandMotion SUTV-8859 Jeep Wrangler Dual Camera Kit lets you add an infrared LED rear-view camera and a front-view camera to select Jeep Wranglers with a factory 6.1" display headunit. The rear IR camera mounting system can be used with virtually any style of Jeep Wrangler spare tire.
Vehicle Compatibility: The BrandMotion Jeep Wrangler Dual Camera Kit is designed specifically for 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK models with a factory 6.1" display headunit.
Integration: The SUTV-8859 includes all the cabling and wiring needed for installation. The front and rear cameras connect to the included integration module. The integration module, along with a dash-mounted toggle switch, lets you quickly switch between the two camera views on your factory headunit's 6.1" display. Integration into the factory reverse signal wiring also allows the rear-view camera to be automatically displayed when reversing the vehicle. A factory T-harness and 22-pin headunit interface harness lets you connect into the factory wiring and headunit with no cutting or splicing required.
Rear Camera
CMD-III Backup Camera: The BrandMotion Jeep Wrangler Camera Kit features a CMD-III rearview camera that delivers 648 x 488 lines of resolution with a wide 170° horizontal and 120˚ vertical viewing angle. The CMD-III camera features built-in infrared LEDs giving it a Lux rating of 0 for nighttime and low-light conditions.
Note: The rear-view camera is meant as a back-up aid only; never solely rely on the rear-view camera when backing-up. In addition to using the rear-view camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.
Viewing Options: The SUTV-8859 rear camera comes defaulted to display Parking Grid Lines and in Mirror mode. These can be changed by connecting the 2 bare-ended wires for each on the camera cable:
- Green: Connect wires to remove Parking Grid Lines.
- White: Connect wires to switch from Mirror to Rear-View mode.
Weather Resistance: The rear-view camera carries an IP67 waterproof rating.
Spare Tire Mounting Bracket: The BrandMotion rear-view camera comes with a stainless-steel spare tire mounting bracket to mount the rear-view camera inside your spare tire on back of your compatible Jeep Wrangler. The spare tire mounting bracket allows you to adjust the neck up, down, left, and right to fit the camera head between the different spoke patterns on varying wheels. Also, included in the kit are two camera head extension brackets (3" & 4.25") to work with varying wheel depths. The spare tire mounting bracket is designed to work with both factory and most aftermarket wheels for the Jeep Wrangler.
Front Camera
Front Camera: The included BrandMotion front-view camera can aid in parking, as well as provide a better view of the terrain in front of you while trail riding off-roading.
Note: This camera kit is meant as a driving aid only; never solely rely on the camera while driving. In addition to using the camera, always physically check to make sure everything is clear around your vehicle.
CMOS Image Sensor & Wide-Angle Lens: The camera features a CMOS images sensor that delivers 648 x 488 lines of resolution, as well as a wide-angle lens that produces a 150° horizontal and a 100˚ vertical viewing angle. The camera has a Lux rating of 0.1 for low-light conditions.
Front or Rear Image: The front-view camera includes a white loop-wire that by default allows it to work as a front-mounted camera. If the white loop is cut, the camera can work as a rear-view camera and will display a "mirror" image.
Park Assist Lines: The front-view camera provides parking assist lines on the screen of your factory display monitor. These parking lines are there to assist you when maneuvering into a parking space. The parking lines are Off by default. You can turn the parking lines On by cutting the green loop-wire on the camera's attached cable.
Weather Resistance: The front-view camera carries an IP68 waterproof rating.
Mounting Options: The front-view camera can be installed behind the front license plate or on a flat surface using the included brackets. The camera's pre-installed license plate bracket mounts to most any license plate. A universal surface-mount bracket with adhesive backing is also included.
