Horrible Quality

These actuators are flat out horrible quality material and practically don't work. I got them installed by professional installers and when testing 2 out, they rattled and shook aggressively, barely even locking/unlocking the doors. The installer told me if they are already working like this, they will die very quickly, potentially locking me in my car. Do Not Prchase This Product!!

2005 Honda Civic: Manual locks to power locks.

Joseph from Idaho on 4/22/2015

Recently installed security system into 2005 Honda Civic, decided to also install power locks. Car is manual in every way so this was a little bit of a hassle but well worth it.

Pros: Fairly simple system to use. Had to get a few other products to complete the process and there were very few tutorials out there but Crutchfield customer service knows exactly what they are talking about. They ensured that I ordered the right parts.

Cons: This isn't really a con, just a warning to anyone attempting the same. The system works by attaching two brackets; one to hold the actuator and another to keep the locking cable in place so the actuator rod can switch the lock. This Honda has 3 layers of insulation over the cable, two plastic layers and one metal coil in-between. It is a fairly tedious process involving a small metal saw held in hand and straight edge razors. Be sure to follow wiring diagram.
