Overview

Our take on the MTX F-150C-09A ThunderForm

Crinkled french fries, discarded receipts, old gum wrappers — you probably have everything in the hidden corners of your vehicle except great bass. ThunderForm enclosures fill the nooks and crannies of your vehicle with low tones that stand out, but their factory look blends right in.

Massive MTX bass

Crinkled french fries, discarded receipts, old gum wrappers — you probably have everything in the hidden corners of your vehicle except great bass. ThunderForm enclosures fill the nooks and crannies of your vehicle with low tones that stand out, but their factory look blends right in.

Built to rock your ride

MTX engineers evaluate the "sonic signatures" of top-selling vehicles so they can design ThunderForms as custom acoustic matches. Each ThunderForm fits and blends inconspicuously into your vehicle, so you get great bass without losing any space. The MDF enclosure with its aviation-grade carpet covering curbs unwanted resonances from your sub, so you'll hear bass that's tight, hard-hitting, and way down low.

The amp's built-in

This rugged MTX ThunderForm comes loaded with a premium-quality 10" Terminator subwoofer and a cool-running Class D amp that puts out 250 watts RMS. It mounts under the rear seat of your Ford Super Crew truck. The enclosure is seamless and airtight, with the correct internal volume to yield optimum bass response from the subwoofer.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great sub for my 2010 F150 SuperCrew! The box fits perfectly under the seat. however it does take up a lot of space that I used for storage, which I anticipated. I also have a floor mat that I needed to cut to fit better after the sub was installed but that was no problem at all! This sub puts out good bass and I hardly have the gains turned up. I listen to mostly country, so I did not need something that was going to rattle my whole vehicle, but something that could cover all the lows that the door speakers couldn't do. But if you're looking for something that can give you plenty of oomph, this subwoofer is for you. Plus the two year warranty is well worth the investment! And whenever I ran into problems or had questions, Crutchfield's service was right there to guide me in the right path during install. If you are going to do a speaker-level wiring like I did with mine, be sure to NOT cut the blue remote wire!! I did this and had to splice new wire on to run to my fuse box. I ended up tapping into my 5 Amp fuse for my windshield wipers so the sub will turn on whenever the key is turned to accessory. This sub is paired with Polk DB572 5x7 door speakers that put out great sound and they will be soon wired through an Alpine 4 channel Power Pack.

Pros: Fits great Good Sound Looks Durable

Cons: Terrible Instructions from MTX

No, you can use your old head unit. However, I have a problem with the auto on/off switch. I wired it as directed, but it never worked (sub never powered up). So I tired wiring it to a cigarette lighter, thinking that would automatically come on and off with the ignition, but now I have the opposite problem (sub never shuts off, which drains the battery if I leave it sitting for 3 days or more). [ Ben  Aug 10, 2018 ]
Depends on the head unit. If you have a factory radio most likely will need to be replaced unless the factory radio has subwoofer outputs (red and white rca jacks). If the factory radio does not have outputs, you can get a converter (like this one-Kicker KISLOC 2-Channel K-Series Speaker Cable to RCA Adapter with Line Out Converter - search title on Amazon) and splice into an existing speaker wire to provide the signal to the sub. If aftermarket radio, most likely has a sub output that you can connect via rca cable [ Stephen  Aug 09, 2018 ]
Yep. I mounted mine on my dash, working great. [ Ben  May 15, 2018 ]
No modifications are required. The only thing I had to do was anchor the box to the floor cause I have a rubber floor. Without doing so it slid around a little. This sub really hits hard in my super crew. I also added 4 new door speakers and a head unit. [ Richard  Feb 11, 2018 ]
No modification required at all! [ Alec  Feb 11, 2018 ]
This will depend largely on your vehicle. For details on installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on what you will need for an installation. [ Kenny  Jul 26, 2017 ]  Staff
