Great quality sound I was looking for.
Brian from Missouri on 6/7/2019
2008 Ford F-150
This is awesome speaker setup! Pretty much a straight forward installation setup, was probably much easier as I already had a aftermarket head unit with RCA outputs and remote on wire lead. The Bass is very impressive out such a small box. With the remote gain control you can adjust it to level of bass per the mood your in right from the driver seat.
Pros: Lots of Bass and great sound with any kind of music. Fits very well and out of the way.
Cons: Didn't come installed from the Ford factory and I had to break a a little sweat installing it.

Great sound, super easy install.
Crutchfield customer from Frisco, TX on 2/11/2019
2006 Ford F-150
Exactly what I wanted. Installation was very easy with Kenwood DNX headunit, the RCA preouts just hooked right up. The sound is also what I expected. It doesn't shake the next car over's rear view mirror off their windshield, but if you turn it up I definitely see people looking around trying to figure out where it's coming from. But at "normal" lower volume, it has greatly improved the quality of sound in the truck for my daily commute.
Pros: Good bump without breaking my rib bones (unless you really turn it up :) ) Very easy install with an aftermarket headunit (RCA Preouts)
Cons: It didn't come with free ice cream for life ? (Can't think of any con's. It's as advertised.)

Tight, accurate bass!
Randy from Apopka, FL on 10/17/2018
2007 Ford F-150
Overall, it is a great product. I am a audio engineer for a radio station, and I needed good listening environment in my truck in order to make good decisions related to audio processing for the station. I was very pleased with the quality of bass that this unit produced. Tight, accurate bass. Not loose and floppy like other subs that are just trying to be loud. My only negative would be that it sounds like the built in audio limiter is kicking earlier than necessary to protect the amp and/or speaker, so top volume level is not as much as it probably could be. The positive side of this is that the unit should never be damaged from pushing it too hard.
Pros: Great sounding bass. Good fit. Decent instructions.
Cons: Built-in amp seems to be under powered, or the built in audio limiter is kicking in too soon.

Weak sound
Dave from Castle Rock, CO on 10/4/2018
2004 Ford F-150
MTX has always had a good reputation so I had no concerns when ordering this product. The built-in amplifier is extremely weak. We were looking to save room and not have to install a separate amplifier. At full gain this speaker is hardly audible. I highly recommend purchasing the stand alone MTX ThunderForm and purchase a separate amplifier for best results.
Pros: The box fit perfectly and is well hidden from view and feet.
Cons: The sound levels are extremely weak. The built-in amp is not powerful enough.

Pros: Easy install, perfect fit, hits hard Cons: Looses power after 20-30 mins of constant usage. I have checked battery, ground, and alternator in my truck. All have good connections and function as suppose. My next diagnosis is that I need a better/ lower guage wire. Seems to be the one supplied is not strong enough. Any suggestions on lower gauge wire kit for my amp?

When I went to my local stereo store to tell them what I ordered they chuckled and tried to sell me one of their homemade boxes that didn't really fit under the seat (it stuck out). I told them I already ordered it and if they would just put it in. They said your not going to like the sound but ok. I got the box in the mail right when the tracker from crutch field said it would be here an I took it down to the install place. They said its so thin won't give you a nice bass. You need a wiring package. I said everything is in the box just do the best you can and install it for me. The guy called me a few hours later to come pick it up. When I got there to pick it up even he was surprised he didn't want to say it so I asked him what he thought ? He said it sounded alright, better than he expected. Poor Debbie downer. The box not only sounds awesome but looks totally factory. It added what I wanted and so much more to my system without changing my factory deck and speakers. It might even be too much bass if that's possible. But with the knob you can adjust it to perfect for every song. I love it. I'm a forty something guy who missed that sound I always had in cars when I was younger. I'm just so happy from the phone call to get it to the sound after the install. Thank you Crutchfield. I'll be shopping with you from now on for all my stereo needs.
Pros: Sounds great. Place that did the install said it was a breeze and all parts were included in box so no extra charges from the install place. People don't even notice it because it tucks under the seat so nicely. Color match is perfect to interior.
Cons: It wasn't free and didn't install itself

I was a little skeptical about this purchase at first. I have had custom systems in the past and never used MTX products. I am a few years older now and my priorities have changed a little. I no longer want to reach competition spl levels. I just want a good solid kick and clean "oem" like fit. Let me tell you, this sub/amp combo does that and then some! Very easy to install, great inconspicuous fit, and even better sound!! Once you get the gain and crossover set, this thing is ready to impress. Deep, tight, bass with a solid kick. Install the included external bass control and increase your range of control with different styles of music. Fantastic product! Thanks Crutchfield and MTX!
Pros: Easy install. Great fit. Better than expected sound.
Cons: Should have tried MTX sooner!

Fits perfectly in my 2007 F-150 XLT extended cab. The sound is much better than my expectation! I have a Kenwood deck that I bought from Crutchfield and factory speakers. The separate bass control knob is key, allows you to easily and effortlessly control the base on each song.
Pros: Easy to install, fits great, sounds amazing
Cons: none

Sounds great, installed easily
Todd G. from Florida on 12/6/2014
I have wanted to add some punch to my truck's stereo for a long time, but having a family and other priorities just kept putting this notion further down my to-do list. Finally, I got my sub to accompany my Pioneer HU and there is no looking back. I'm a middle-aged guy - I want quality and clarity, not license plate-shaking noise. This sub delivers. It provides much more hard-hitting lows than I had hoped for. If you're into hip hop, I don't know what to tell you, but if you're into heavy rock, jazz, progressive rock, and the like, you will be very happy the first time you hear the bottom end kick in your truck.
Pros: Great sound, great fit, great color match (tan)
Cons: None noted yet.

Excellent!!!! - after some adjustments of course
Jeff K from La Plata, MD on 8/28/2007
I have an 07 F150 SuperCrew and I ordered this to supplement my stereo. First the fit and color match is perfect and mistaken for factory installed (even by the dealer!!) The sound was at first very dissapointing until, I found some hidden settings in my Kenwood stereo I didn't think to look for. After you tune this properly (about ten minutes in the vehicle listening to your desired music and adjusting sound controls like eq, bass, treble, etc) its ready to impress. It can still rattle the mirrors, and vibrate the seats if you want, or turn it down halfway or to low, and just supplement your music and your unaware passenger will say-"Wow, this truck came with a really nice sounding stereo." 200 watts is plenty for the average adult in a pickup truck.. Bottom Line- I recommend this product The bonus- Crutchfield was great with my order, Helped me with some ideas of what may have been wrong when i first installed it and thought it wasn't sounding right, and It showed up on my door the NEXT DAY after ordering too!!

I bought this unit for my 2006 F-150 Super Cab. I was used to the sound of a 10" sub. The sound this unit produced was awesome. It was a tight deep bass that sounds great with all my music. If you are looking for great bass from an affordable single 12" powered sub this is it.

Great Sub!
Joseph from Sacramento, CA on 3/9/2007
It won't win you any competitions, but for 200 watts this thing sure does hit! I was looking for something that would fit in the cab of my '07 F-150 super cab. This unit fits perfectly underneath the rear seat, no loss of legroom and doesn't interfere with the jack. I hooked the sub up to my factory radio. This meant I had to hook up a line out converter to my radio. Once I had everything set up it worked flawlessly. I had a 600 watt MB Quart system with a 15" sub in my previous car and this thing hits just about as good. Of course, its not a 15" so there are some LOW LOW notes that it cant hit, but for the most part it does what I need it to do. I listen to rock, reggae, rap, and this sub provides the low end that I was missing with my factory set up. I turned up my stereo and listened from outside my truck and I couldn't really hear the sub, except from the front. So, if you're behind someone at an intersection they might hear the bass, but you won't have to worry about shaking your neighbors up when you come home. Overall it sounds great for being only 200 watts, but don't expect to win any competitions with it!

What an ingenious sub! I still can not believe how hard this little unit hits! I was following my wife to the gym and she complained that the bass was shaking her (one car ahead). The bass is a very clean tight sounding bass, exactly what I was looking for. The box fits PERFECTLY underneath the rear drivers side seat of my '06 F150 and in no way interferes with the passenger seating. Hook-up took a solid hour. This was my first purchase with Crutchfield and I must say, their customer service is excellent (Thanks Harley!).
