MTX has applied its engineering expertise to building the ultimate component speaker system. The Thunder8000 T8.6 6-3/4" component system has the look, sound, and feel of high performance!
The 6-3/4" woofer features a titanium-deposited, injection-molded cone and machine-turned front and back plates for an elegant, stainless steel look. And, with a die-cast basket, rugged butyl-rubber surround, and 1" voice coil, the woofer delivers the kind of performance you'd expect from a Thunder8000 component.
The smooth-sounding 1" silk dome tweeter is designed for great dispersion and can be flush- or surface-mounted. A two-position attenuation switch (0, +3 dB) helps you achieve the perfect high frequency balance in your system. The high-grade crossover (3500 Hz; 18 db/octave high-pass, 12 dB/octave low-pass) ensures extremely well-defined mids and highs.

Titanium Coated Injection-Molded Polypropylene Cone Woofer: The poly woofer cones are titanium plated for a high stiffness to mass ratio. The cones are strong, lightweight and resistant to the elements.
Butyl Rubber Surround: The butyl rubber surround has greater internal loss than standard urethane, preventing harmonic distortion at higher frequencies. It more efficiently absorbs edge reflections that can cause audible distortion, resulting in clearer bass performance. Additionally, a butyl rubber surround withstands the extremes of the automotive environment.
Die-Cast Basket: The die-cast basket helps eliminate destructive resonance frequencies.
1" Silk Dome Tweeter: The tweeter is a 1" silk dome for smooth, clear highs.
Tweeter Mounting Options: The tweeters may be flush or surface mounted. The tweeters swivel inside the flush and surface mounting cups for optimum imaging.

Crossover Frequency: The crossover features a 3.5kHz high-pass network for the tweeters and a 3.5kHz low-pass network for the woofers.
Selectable 0dB/+3dB Tweeter Output Level: There is a switch located on the crossover circuit board that allows the user to select full output level (0dB) or +3dB tweeter operation. The 0dB position is designed to give the smoothest system frequency response in most normal acoustical environments. If the interior acoustics of the vehicle or the tweeter placement dictate the need for increased high frequency output, the switch can be se to the +3dB position.
Inputs/Outputs: The
crossover inputs and outputs are gold plated screw terminals. The terminals are
gold plated to prevent performance robbing corrosion.
Mounting: There are 2 mounting holes in the
base of each crossover.
