Stunned! This was a simple, budget install in my uncle's car that had some rotted out speakers and a nonfunctional receiver. Put these in the Impala's dash and hooked them up to a JVC receiver. I was extremely impressed with the sound quality for the price! For a 5.25" speaker, the bass was impressive on my uncle's Bob Seger CD. It's a 5.25" so it will never shake the rearview mirror but it was clear and punchy. The highs sounded great with that silk tweeter. Smooth and not screechy at all. With a light hand on the bass equalization, they can be turned up pretty loud with the 13 watts RMS coming out of the JVC. Rubber surrounds instead of foam or cloth. Silk tweeters instead of paper or other lower end materials. Poly cones instead of paper. These are built well! I ended up crossing these over at 100 hz with the JVC and letting the Kicker 6x9's handle the bass. But if you can only fit these, they'll still sound surprisingly good with full range. I'm an audio snob and only run higher end equipment in my cars but I appreciate any install where someone took the time and effort to replace the factory junk. No, these aren't better than components or higher end speakers. What I think they are are budget unicorns. These shine as stock speaker replacements and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone doing a budget install.
Pros: Excellent build quality and materials at this price point. Impressive highs and surprising bass...for their size. I've done a lot of installs and I'm not sure I've heard a better 5.25" at this price.
Cons: As with any smaller speaker, easy on boosting the bass.

1999 Buick Century
I ordered these to replace the stock front speakers in my 99 buick century. The factory speakers were blown and I was just looking for a replacement. What I received was a HUGE upgrade in quality. They are surprisingly heavy in the bass department, which I appreciate, but perform extremely well in mid-range, to boot. I cranked the treble to test the highs and I think they do a good job there too. I'm extremely pleased with price for performance. I have the stock head unit in the buick. It has an equalizer that makes tuning pretty easy. I don't experience any distortion whatsover until I connect my phone and crank the phone's volume to the max. Then things get muddy. I highly recommend these if you're looking for factory replacement like was... but I suspect that they are very good all around! Just perfect speakers for the price!

only one screw hole lined up but with three self-tapping screws everything was secured properly. In total I replaced 4 base speakers ... Every one of my original speakers was missing the connection from the cone to the speaker frame ... after 20 years it had turned to dust ...it amazes me that I got any sound out of the old speakers...What a difference!! Thanks.

These sound great. 1996 Toyota Tacoma standard cab. My only regret is I should have gone with the larger Terminator6, it seems those fit, and I thing the factory speaker was a 6 1/2". Still, these things sound great in every way compared to the factory speakers, and especially the blown out one. These are worthy.

Nothing special. I bought a Kenwood stereo with 22 amp RMS to drive these speakers and they sound ok. Maybe with a small amp they could produce more but for the price they're not bad.

So far so good. Replaced the 6x8 Ford Explorer, '02' front door speakers. Excellent upgrade. Nice crisp highs with some solid definition from the low end woofer. Looking forward to replacing the dash radio so that I can more audio tone options than (Bass/Treble) in the factory radio.
Pros: Crisp Highs, Decent Definition in the Low Range from a 5.5.
Cons: Too bad just replacing factory mounted speakers in original place losing the nice RED cone to the darkness of the door panel. No other CONS at this point.

The sound was better than the factory speakers, but not by much. And then after about 9 months one of the speakers started buzzing because the main speaker started rubbing up against the center post where the tweeter is located. I just finished swapping them out for a pair of Polk speaker, and the Polk speakers sound soooo much better.

I like to play my music loud and these speakers are weaker than my OEM paper 5x8s. They also distort at high volume which makes them worthless IMO. Don't fall for the positive hype other reviewers are feeding you. These speakers are basically a glorified tweeter. I will be replacing these very soon.

Dale, tech support at Crutchfield, helped me find these. I was replacing a blown speaker in an old 1998 JVC boombox my wife bought from Crutchfield. So the speakers had to fit inside the cabinets, a mounting matchup was necessary. I was not optimistic. I had the idea of using car speakers cuz many are round, whereby speakers people are buying now are of a different nature. So it wasn't a "perfect" fit, but darn near. I installed them and am enjoying the boombox big time. Dale was funny, I think he wasn't much older than this boombox! LOL! Anyway, good job, Crutchfield. Wife and I are happy. Thanks.

Put these behind a pioneer MVH 600bs. They went in no problem with the speaker adapters and wireing adapters that crutchfield provided with purchase. I really expected a much improvement over the factory 17 year old speakers. These speakers were not worth the money and sound about the same as what I replaced.

I have a JVC media deck, pushing 50X4 and it's too much for these 75 watts speakers. My stock 25 watt 6X8 in the rear deck are taking the beating like a champ. I installed these in my front doors. 05 Ford Taurus. Luckily the deck has tons of tune and I can work around the horrible quality lol. I'm simply going to supplement with a 10" inch shallow box subwoofer and take the load off

The speaker is great for the price and sounds great. Th only issue is the speaker doesn't sit flush in the opening of a '03 Volvo S40. It will require spacer rings. I ended up cutting the frame of the original speaker to retrofit the speaker into the door.
Pros: Does the job and sounds good.
Cons: Needs additional part (speaker spacer ring) or work to het the speaker to sit flush.

These sound much better than the oem speakers, even using the oem head unit. Good fit in a 98 Ram single cab, screws holes are tight but no drilling needed. Get the speaker baffles if these are going in the rear.

For the price are good option, you will get distortion after certain level of volume, it looks doesn't handle to much load even it said 35 Watts, 5 more than the others model at the same price. Since if for an old car, it will do the work, and I am using only the front ones, I just order the rear ones Pioneer to verify if I can get more volume (Loud) with both sides working , rear and front. Now is working these ones at the front.
Pros: Good clear sound at low level.
Cons: Too loud it gets distorted, distortion if gets to high or to much bass.

Replacement door speakers

My son, bless him, got his hands on some LARGE speakers for the door in his truck. Of course, the windows wouldn't go down all the way and when I asked him where the original speakers were (some I bought last year from Crutchfield) he didn't know. I am selling the truck and needed some that fit. These fit as they are supposed to. Now, the windows go all the way down like they should. As for how they sound, good enough for me but not good enough for him but in a couple days, it won't matter. Maybe the new owner will buy some new speakers from you guys.
Pros: Fit in the door properly. Loud enough for a mid 50 year old who wants the windows to go down all the way.
Cons: Not loud enough for a teenager.

2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5i
I was looking around for some new speakers for my subaru recently as I just installed a new Pioneer head unit. It became clear pretty soon after that my old factory speakers just arent cutting it anymore. I had in mind what I wanted to spend for the front speakers because I dont have a woofer or an amp so Im just looking for some solid, loud and affordable replacements. And WOW...MTX sure knew what they were doing when they made these! I compared the Pioneer, JVC, Rockford Fosgate and MTX speakers that were all around the same price but I have always known MTX to be a good brand for car audio. With the red woofer cones and rubber surround, these cans pump out a very satisfying amount of mid-range and bass with no distortion. The highs are also well represented as well. I customized my EQ settings and these things can get flat out LOUD!! The install was fairly easy except that I did have to drill new holes in my door to get the included brackets to fit. Overall, this was the best I ever spent for this price point. MTX knows what they are doing. I am blown away by the quality of these. Extremely satisfied

2000 Chevrolet Tahoe
I just installed these in my Tahoe. I knew one of the factory speakers was inoperative but did not know the other front door speaker was as bad as it was. These really sound good! It's not the boom boom bass sound we have all heard but just a good full sound which is much better than stock......I can wait to install the rear door speakers next. I can not imagine how god it will sound then
