Overview: The iFi Audio iPurifier 3 is a USB filter that eliminates noise, giving you a better computer audio experience. The iPurifier 3 simply plugs into the USB chain, either through the USB A or USB B port, with adapters for USB-C and Micro USB. It uses several iFi technologies, including Active Noise Cancellation and second-generation REclock/REgenerate/REbalance. The input port is compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0, while the output port is USB 2.0 High Speed compliant, supporting all formats, including future PCM, DSD, and DXD formats. The iPurifier 3 is 3/4" wide, 3/4" high, and 2-3/4" long, and weighs only 2 ounces.
Construction: The iPurifier 3 is built for performance, with solid aluminum connectors and a white armored case. Inside, it utilizes OS-CON capacitors for excellent noise reduction, Tantalum capacitors for stability and efficiency, and Vishay MELF resistors for better accuracy and reliability. Gold-plated copper-alloy shielding isolates devices and cables from EMI and RFI interference.
Active Noise Cancellation: The iPurifier 3 uses military-grade Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) to reduce noise in your audio system by 40dB or 100x, compared to a common noise filter. Similar to ANC in headphones, the iPurifier 3 detects unwanted noise and introduces a second but opposite sound wave that cancels out the noise, particularly in the lower frequencies. The device also utilizes passive noise cancellation through insulating filters which eliminate middle and high frequency noise.
REclock, REgenerate, REbalance2: iFi Audio's state-of-the-art REclock, REgenerate, REbalance2 technology corrects any errors that may have occurred in the transmission of the USB audio and power streams. In the REclock and REgenerate phase, the USB signal is repeated so the frame and packet noise and jitter can be removed, restoring the integrity of the USB signal. The REbalance phase corrects the USB signal balance and impedance mismatch to remove distortion caused by DC offset.
