Simple integration

"So now when I hop in my 2017 VW and don't need a charge, I don't even have to get my phone out of my pocket to use CarPlay. This interface also features a USB pass-through port. I leave my iPhone's Lightning® cable in the car in case I decide I need a charge, and when plugged in, the wired CarPlay re-syncs and takes over. It's a great piece that I think our customers will love.”

— Darren, Crutchfield Vehicle Integration Buyer

Wired or wireless

This CRUX solution includes the hideaway interface and the USB-A to USB-C plug to connect to your stereo's USB input. The ACP-WL includes a pass-through USB port, so you can switch back to wired CarPlay by connecting your iPhone using a Lightning® cable to keep your battery charged. If you want to stay wireless, you may want to consider a wireless Qi charger to help keep your iPhone's battery replenished.

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Only if you keep it outside the dash and in the passenger compartment. The range on this adapter is pathetic. Constantly disconnected for me. I ended up returning it and spending hundreds on a dedicated Wireless CarPlay stereo.

Will this work for Mazda vehicles equipped with wired CarPlay? I've tried three different wireless CarPlay adapters purchased online and they never seem to be compatible with Mazda even if they claim to be. Most of them also claim that they "work" with the CX-5, but neglect to say anything about other Mazda vehicles like the Mazda6.

I can't tell you about the Mazda, I use it on a Land Rover Defender with has wired CarPlay, and it works flawlessly, it is my understanding of course that you have to have wired CarPlay to begin with otherwise it won't work.

If this doesn't work for boss stereos, you guys need to change that in your guys descriptions! It said it was compatible with boss stereos? only reason I bought it.
[ ALEJANDRO  Aug 27, 2021 ]

Hi Alejandro. It should work with a Boss unit, but only if it was originally equipped with wired Apple CarPlay capability. The Crux unit does not have to be charged, it remains plugged in to the USB port when in use. If you have further questions or troubles, feel free to contact our Tech Support team. Our toll-free Tech Support number is printed on your invoice, and is also available under the "My Orders" tab in the "My Account" section of our website.

Q
Does this work for a 2015 Honda Accord touring?
[ Michael  Aug 26, 2021 ]
1 answer
A
The stock radio must support wired Apple CarPlay for this to work and change it to wireless Apple CarPlay. We did not find that in a 2015 Accord and the vehicle brochure does not mention that being an option. We do not expect this will work with the stock radio. It can work with a compatible aftermarket Apple CarPlay receiver installed in the car

I'm not sure because my goal was to make my CarPlay wireless without connecting my iPhone which I was able to accomplish. I'm not sure you want to get Car Play with the use of the CRUX or if you're trying to do something else.
[ Jeffry  Jul 13, 2021 ]
A
My opinion this will not work for you as this is only adapter for wireless less connection between iPhone and radio. Radio need to be outfitted with CarPlay. However please call advisor regarding this issue. I didn't install this module as is not compatible with my radio. Regards Jacek
[ Jacek Marzec  Jul 12, 2021 ]

This only converts wired CarPlay to wireless. If your car doesn't currently have Apple CarPlay, this will not add it to your radio.

We need to know a little more about your car to determine if it will be compatible. Give us a call at 1-800-324-9695 and we'll be happy to check into it!

If your car has wired carplay installed, it should work. It's currently working on my 2018 Mercedes S450, but takes about 20 seconds to connect. You also may want to disconnect after you turn the car off. I left mine plugged in, and now my car is saying my auxiliary battery is malfunctioning.

I have a BOSS aftermarket stereo. And it works amazing. After reading about it (and this radio wasn't listed), is that if you have wired CarPlay, this will adapt it to wireless, and it works amazingly. The only time I have e seen it act up is when I disconnected CarPlay without turning the radio/car off. Locks the BOSS stereo up. But a power/ignition cycle fixes it. I love not having wires everywhere.
