Bring aftermarket features to your factory radio

Crux's BTGM-33 Bluetooth interface expands the functionality of your factory system without replacing the radio. Connect this interface to your existing radio, and you'll enjoy the convenience of hands-free calling and audio streaming with your Bluetooth-equipped phone. You'll use your existing steering wheel controls to control calls and music, so you can keep both hands on the wheel and drive like a smart person.

Callers will hear you clearly

Install the included external microphone in a good spot for the best reception, such as near your visor or on top of the steering wheel column. You can also adjust the microphone volume so your callers can hear you clearly.

Cool music without uncool wires

In between calls, you'll need something to occupy yourself, so why not enjoy some music? The Crux BTGM-33 interface lets you listen to your favorite music wirelessly from your compatible phone via Bluetooth. Unlike older Bluetooth adapters, this Crux adapter will send sound to your front and rear speakers. When you get a call, your music will be muted so you can hear your caller on your speakers.

Please enter your vehicle information or call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to find out if this interface is compatible with your vehicle.

Important Note:  This adapter is not compatible with a factory radio with a built-in XM radio tuner. The XM tuner must be separate.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

2007 Silverado Easy installation, and my iPhone paired right up. Streams well. A little slow hooking back up after turning truck off and restarting. Only draw back for me is that when you are streaming or playing Am or Fm the volume for answering the phone is very low compared to the volume you were listening to so you have to turn up the volume when talking on phone. Other than that wors well.

Crazy experience with Crux tech support!!! Beware DTS owners!

Crutchfield customer from Palmyra, VA on 2/13/2019

2011 Cadillac DTS
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First off, Crutchfield is great and let me return this product no questions asked. My car is a 2011 Cadillac DTS premium with Bose. I had the most bizarre experience with this product. I hooked it all up according to the (minimalist) instructions and got nothing. So I called Crux customer support. I was told the tech advisors are busy and I would get a call back in 5 minutes. After 1 hour I called back. The tech asked if I had everything setup right and I told him I did and asked if I could just remove the XM radio harness and use that input alone, he said sure, seeming quite disinterested in my troubles. Then out of nowhere he says "did your gauges start flashing and then the car wouldn't start?" Needless to say I was flabbergasted! I said "no, why?". He indicates they are working out some bugs with this product for my particular vehicle and they had some reports of the aforementioned issues. He then tells me "give me your phone number and I will call you when this is fixed". Rather than waiting for that option, I immediately returned the product to the store (again, where the Crutchfield team was awesome). I just can't believe that this seemingly devastating issue is not addressed on the Crux packaging or the Crutchfield website. Thank god simple non-functionality was the only problem I encountered.

Pros: It did not destroy my radio.

Cons: Didnt work. See above.

great bluetooth interface.

2008 Chevrolet Silverado
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First one I received did not function properly. While you could make and receive calls, you could not switch between the unit and XM radio. It just basically disabled the XM portion of the radio. A quick call to Crutchfield support, I tried a few suggestions and it still didn't work so I called again. They called CRUX who said the unit must be defective. I sent the unit back but had to wait 3 weeks as the replacement was on backorder. Just got the new one and it worked perfectly as the instructions described. I'm very happy with it. While it is limited compared to a factory Bluetooth system (Ie: no phonebook, no caller ID on radio screen, can't dial out from steering wheel or radio), it is far better than ANY other Bluetooth solution for a car that did not have it from the factory, outside of replacing the entire radio. Simple, easy to use, and works. Sound like from other reviews there was an earlier batch with firmware issues, I'd assume that was my issue as well, but it seems newly manufactured units have resolved this.

Pros: Simple and easy to use Easy to install Retain factory radio, XM, and wheel controls Hidden from view, looks factory

Cons: No phonebook No caller ID Strange ringtone on incoming calls that can't be changed Can't dial out from radio or steering wheel controls

Easy, fast, and it works

2008 GMC Acadia
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For 100 bucks, this is an easy and so far, a great solution to radios without bluetooth. I installed this in a 2008 GMC acadia with the bose system and XM. It was straight plug-n-play. The only concern I have is the module is stuffed under the radio and I'm worried about heat since it's a tight fit. Otherwise, it was easy, and paired fast. I had one issue of it not playing after restart, but selecting the seek forward or back, which changes songs, brought the playback online. So far so good.

Pros: Easy plug in installation with nothing but the radio to take out.

Cons: Doesn't show song information on the XM screen, just shows "bluelogic"

Great Bluetooth Interface

2007 Chevrolet Avalanche
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The unit did not work out well with my 2007 Avalanche LTZ with factory Bose nav system. Streaming sound quality was outstanding, however steering wheel track select did not function as described. Inconvenient to have to switch between XM and Bluetooth by holding seek down on radio for 3 seconds every time car is started, but was tolerable. The deal breaker was because the unit does not turn off with ignition, and created a constant 5 amp drain on my battery. The drain went away as soon as I removed the unit. I did not attempt to update software as this requires disassembly of the unit. Crutchfield support was excellent as usual, but I decided to return the unit and will ultimately purchase a new head unit to obtain Bluetooth / handsfree functionality.

Pros: outstanding streaming sound; much better than aux input

Cons: constant 5 amp drain on battery causing dead battery in matter of hours.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

2008 Silverado LTZ with Bose system. Installed and bluetooth music worked but not handsfree. Contacted Crutchfield and they were GREAT as usual and sent me a new unit immediately. Same problem. Decided to contact Crux directly to let them know that it did not work with my vehicle. Crux was also great and sent me a new one with the newest firmware flash installed. Just changed out module and it works as stated. Very good sound quality. Crutchfield said that you can upload the newest firmware yourself by taking the module apart, going got Crux website and plugging a USB cable to it to upload the file. I did not have to since Crux did it for me, so why is Crux sending out product to Crutchfield without newest firmware??? They are date stamped and the 2 that did not work were made 8/18 and 9/18. The one that worked 10/18.

Pros: Excellent sound

Cons: Had to disassemble dash 3 times.

although after talking to tech support the adapter did not work in my vehicle, however, when contacted via email, return options and necessary paper work followed immediately. after hookup in dash following instructions, the vehicle would not start and check engine light. reconnected original wiring harness and vehicle started with no problems. I believe the adapter i was sent was more for streaming music than bluetooth capabilities for telephone usage.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This system does everything I wanted it too. I was concerned that it wouldn't work with all my stock equipment but after I got it installed it basically set up by itself. No wire hanging, everything but a couple inches of mic wire are hidden. Steering wheel controls work with this system and all call are channeled through my stock bose system. Everything worked as promised by my sale rep. The volume does have to be turned up higher when taking a call but other than that completely satisfied saved a bunch of money by not having to buy a new stereo. Thank You Crutchfield!!!...

Pros: Everything works perfectly no wire showing clear sound and works with steering wheel controls

Cons: Have to turn volume up a bit while taking a call but not a biggie

Bluetooth 2.0: Thanks to built-in Bluetooth 2.0 with support for HFP and A2DP/AVRCP, you can enjoy hands-free communication and wireless audio streaming from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone through your vehicle's factory radio and steering wheel controls. The BTGM-33 supports multi-device pairing, but only one device can be connected for calls and playback at a time. The BTGM-33 also allows any previously paired smartphone to automatically re-connect to the add-on Bluetooth interface inside your vehicle.

  • Hands-Free Communication: The Crux BTGM-33 adds Bluetooth hands-free communication to your vehicle's factory radio with DSP and Echo-Cancellation for clear conversations on both sides of the phone call. Using your vehicle's steering wheel controls (if equipped), you can answer and end your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone's calls. You will still need to use your smartphone to make phone calls and to view caller ID information. An external wired microphone is included to carry on your side of the conversation, while the other party is heard through your vehicle's front speakers. The BTGM-33 will automatically mute any source as soon as a call is received, and resumes when a call is ended.
  • Wireless Audio Streaming: The BTGM-33 adds 4-channel Bluetooth audio streaming to your vehicle's factory radio. You'll be able to wirelessly stream stored music, music apps, and other audio content (such as Navigation apps) from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone to the add-on Bluetooth interface and your vehicle's factory radio. You can operate Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track functions from your vehicle's steering wheel controls (if equipped). Advanced music browsing and song/artist/album information will still need to be done from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone. The BTGM-33 supports the standard SBC codec for Bluetooth (not compatible with aptX or AAC). The BTGM-33 will automatically pauses Bluetooth audio streaming when a hands-free call is received and will resume when the call is ended.
Note: The Crux BTGM-33 will use your vehicle's XM source function to access the add-on Bluetooth interface as a source. Your your vehicle's steering wheel controls to toggle between XM radio and Bluetooth by pressing and holding the Source button.

Retained Factory Features: The Crux BeeLine series BTGM-33 will retain your vehicles OnStar functionality and factory XM radio, if equipped.

Note: The Crux BeeLine series BTGM-33 is not compatible with factory radio that feature built-in XM radio. The factory XM tuner must be external and not be part of radio.

Magnetic Vent Mount: The Crux BTGM-33 comes with a magnetic vent mount for your smartphone. The mount works with most air vent configurations found in today's vehicle's - including horizontal, vertical, and round air vents. The vent mount includes a magnetic device cradle and comes with a self-adhesive magnetic plate which attaches to the outside of your smartphone or inside of your smartphone case. Once the magnetic plate is installed, simply hover your mobile device over the cradle and it will quickly snap into place and remain there. You can quickly remove it too. The mount's ball-and-socket mechanism allows you tilt your smartphone up or down, turn it left or right, and rotate it 360-degrees. You'll be able to mount your device in a vertical (portrait) or horizontal (landscape) orientation.

USB Port: A Mini-B USB port is located inside the casing. This port is provided for uploading firmware updates to the adapter.

No. Microphone that comes with unit only. [ James  Jan 31, 2019 ]
It has a flat 2 wire plug that looks to be proprietary to this device. Not a round one like a phone jack. Hope this helps. [ Dave  Jan 31, 2019 ]
I don't believe so because the microphone that the unit comes with plugs into the device. The factory one does not have the same plug. The sound quality is exceptional from this unit [ JOE  Jan 31, 2019 ]
No but it comes with a good microphone [ Marlow  Jan 31, 2019 ]
You will have to install the microphone supplied with the new stereo. [ mark  Jan 31, 2019 ]
Have a qualified Tech installed the device otherwise you will run into problems [ Christopher  Jan 26, 2019 ]
I installed it in my 2008 avalanche with navigation and had no issues. [ ROBBIE  Jan 06, 2019 ]
Gary, steering wheel controls work for track up/down with phone music player and steering volume controls work. Mine is installed in 2008 SRX which doesn't have a couple of the buttons I've seen on GMCs, so I think you have a little more functionality (toggle Bluetooth connect on/off) from the wheel. You can also answer calls from steering wheel buttons and mute audio. The built-in ONSTAR mic is not functional with Bluetooth calling - there is a separate mic connected to the Crux adapter that you can locate wherever you like. All sound plays through existing speakers. [ Mark  Jan 06, 2019 ]
Yes there is a wire you will connect from your factory harness that shows mic [ walker  Jan 06, 2019 ]
I installed in a 2008 equinox with XM only. It integrated with the steering wheel controls. However the interface is quirky and takes some practice to master while driving. It does work with the phone and streaming from an iPhone 8 and XS. I can't say if it would work correctly since you already have BT , it may work if you can disable it. The cabling was easy plug and play so nothing needs to be cut so you could do a test install but I would make sure it can be return if it doesn't work. I know this isn't the answer you were looking for but I hope it helps some. [ John  Jan 06, 2019 ]
Gary yes it will. I've had it in my 09 Escalade for about 4 months now and it is amazing. If you have any more questions please contact me and I'll respond immediately [ Martell  Jan 06, 2019 ]
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Krissy  Jan 07, 2019 ]  Staff
Yes up to 3 [ walker  Nov 18, 2018 ]
I'd refrain from connecting 2 phones. The system worked great when only my phone was connected but as soon as a friend connected his phone it acted like my phone was no longer in its memory. So to fix this I had to "forget" the Bluetooth device on both devices and reconnect from scratch. Hope this helps! [ Daniel  Nov 18, 2018 ]
Yes [ Ricky  Nov 18, 2018 ]
It plays through Xm so you have to have Xm built into the radio. [ Michael  Sep 14, 2018 ]
This module didn't effect any of my factory functions and pair automatically with my phone when I start my truck. The only thing I can see you having to do is choose between what device your phone connects too. So when you are pairing make sure you choose the new module. [ SCOTT  Sep 13, 2018 ]
Yes it will work for streaming and as long as the Bluetooth is on , on the device it will automatically connect ! [ walker  Sep 13, 2018 ]
It should fit [ JOE  Jan 31, 2019 ]
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up details on the year & model of your Tahoe to see if the CRUX BTGM-33 adapter will work correctly. [ Larry  Jul 13, 2018 ]  Staff
You do not lose your XM functionality works great [ Marlow  Jan 31, 2019 ]
