Features

Add-On Bluetooth/USB/Aux Interface Adapter: The Crux BeeLine series BTS-VW2 allows you to add Bluetooth music streaming, USB music playback & charging, as well as a 3.5mm Aux input to the factory radio of select Audi & Volkswagen vehicles.

Vehicle Compatibility: The Crux BeeLine series BTS-VW2 is compatible with select 2002-2011 Audi & Volkswagen vehicles that feature a factory radio with a 12-pin CD changer port.

Make Model Year
Audi A3 2008-2010
A4/S4 2007-2009
TT 2007-2010
R8* 2006-20009
Volkswagen Beetle 2009-2011
EOS 2007-2011
Golf 2003-2011
Jetta 2002-2009
Passat 2003-2007
Touareg 2004-2012

Notes:

  • Factory radio must have a 12-pin CD changer port.
  • If your vehicle is equipped with an external factory CD-changer, it must be disconnected.
  • Not compatible in vehicles with factory navigation radios.
  • *The Audi RR8 must have a factory radio with a CD player and no touchscreen.

Bluetooth Music Streaming: Thanks to built-in Bluetooth 2.0 with support for A2DP, you are able to wirelessly stream stored music and music apps (using SBC codec only) from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or portable audio player to the Crux BTS-VW2 and your vehicle's factory radio. There is no music control or song/artist information on the factory radio; this will still need to be done from your Bluetooth source device. You can also use Bluetooth to hear navigation voice prompts (factory radio and adapter must be in Bluetooth mode). The adapter will only pair to one device at a time.

Notes: The Crux BeeLine series adapter does not support Bluetooth hands-free phone communication.

USB Port: The adapter's USB-A 2.0 port supports playback of MP3 music files stored on a USB mass storage class (MSC) device, like a USB thumbdrive (you may want to purchase a USB extension cable). You can control Track/Folder Up & Down from the factory radio or steering wheel controls (if equipped). The factory radio will not display song/artist information. The USB port can also be used to charge (5V/0.5A) your smartphone.

Aux Input: There is a 3.5mm auxiliary input for connecting almost any external portable audio source with a headphone jack or analog audio output. Music from your connected portable audio source will be heard through the factory radio and speakers. There are no playback controls or song/artist information on the factory radio.

Magnetic Vent Mount: The Crux BTS-VW2 comes with a magnetic vent mount for your smartphone. The mount works with most air vent configurations found in today's vehicle's - including horizontal, vertical, and round air vents. The vent mount includes a magnetic device cradles and comes with a self-adhesive magnetic plate which attaches to the outside of your smartphone or inside of your smarpthone case. Once the magnetic plate is installed, simply hover your mobile device over the cradle and it will quickly snap into place and remain there. You can quickly remove it too. The mount's ball-and-socket mechanism allows you tilt your smartphone up or down, turn it left or right, and rotate it 360-degrees. You'll be able to mount your device in a vertical (portrait) or horizontal (landscape) orientation.

Plug-&-Play Harness: The Crux BeeLine series BTS-VW2 features an attached 30" harness which plugs into the 12-pin CD changer port on the back of the factory radio. The factory radio will need to be removed from the dash in order to gain access to the 12-pin CD changer port. If there is a factory external CD changer already plugged into this port, you will need to unplug it and leave the CD changer disconnected.

Operation: The Crux BTS-VW2 is accessed through the "CD" button on your vehicle's factory radio. In this mode the factory radio will display "CD1 TR1". You cannot manually switch between the inputs of the BTS-VW2. Instead, the BTS-VW2 automatically switches for you based on what device you have connected - Bluetooth, USB, or Aux (only connect one device at a time).

You can use the volume control no problem but to change music from steering wheel you can not due to the fact your in CD mode to play your music through Bluetooth

Q
Does this retain steering wheel controls? (2008 Audi A4)
[ Alex  May 17, 2020 ]
7 answers
A
You keep the steering wheel controls you have but it will not add anything to their capability. This was a super easy install and it works pretty flawless. We run an auto start in the winter and it pairs to your phone with in so many minutes of starting the car. If the phone is not there when you get in you have to turn the stereo off then on and it will find the phone. You can not make phone calls through the stereo with this but it will play music from the phone.
[ JAMES  May 19, 2020 ]
A
Unfortunately this did not work in my 2009 A4 with a symphony stereo at all. I even spoke with the manufacturer about it not working in a vehicle it says it's for. I wouldn't waste your time.
[ jamie  May 17, 2020 ]
A
I have a 2007 Touareg and it only has volume on wheel so yes works perfect. I guess the best way to say it is this connects to the CD changer input and Bluetooth to your media player (iPhone in my case) so only the controls that would communicate back to the changer would be available. I do not believe Bluetooth would be able to interpret these commands so other then the volume I don't think any would work. All that being said it's basically a non issue for me as I just do playlists because it's too distracting for me to search around for the songs I like. Also I find I rarely use wheel controls (not just my VW but all) as it's usually just easier to turn the knob. Hope that helps and sorry it got a little long winded.
[ Gregory  May 17, 2020 ]
A
Not sure. As our vehicle is an older model and does not have controls on the steering wheel. We are using the radio buttons for operation...
[ Eric  May 17, 2020 ]
A
Yes I did
[ terrance  May 17, 2020 ]
A
I have a 2003 jetta GLI. It does not have steering wheel controls. The monsoon radio does not operate the iphone. It will restart the current song, but that seems to be it.
[ Frederick  May 17, 2020 ]
A
Yes! Been using mine since last October. It just plugs into the existing CD changer plug in the back of your factory stereo, nothing interfering with your current controls. Good luck!
[ C  May 17, 2020 ]
Q
Is this unit compatible with a 2004 passat with a â??monsoonâ?? system?
[ Lorne  May 09, 2020 ]
3 answers
A
It works well in my 2002 passat w8 with the monsoon. I was confused as to where to plug it in until the tec guys told me to unplug the cable from the cd changer. The steering wheel volume works with it but not song skip on my adroid. Glenn.
[ Glenn  May 18, 2020 ]
A
I had it in a 2004 Passat with monsoon. It works in place of the CD changer, connecting behind the head unit.
[ Sidney  May 09, 2020 ]
A
Yes, works perfectly.
[ Nancy  May 09, 2020 ]
Q
Will this work in my 2009 Audi A4 with non MMI factory stereo?
[ Naun18  May 27, 2018 ]
1 answer
A
Possibly. If you do not have the stock navigation (GPS) but do have the factory CD changer (or, at least the option for it), the adapter will work, yes. If you have the factory Satellite Radio option; it will no longer function when the adapter is installed. Q
Will it fit Audi A6, 2006?
[ Roman  Mar 07, 2018 ]
1 answer
A
If Audi uses the same radio type of the VW Passat, yes and it is a superior product in that one will not be able to tell whether or not the Bluetooth is on.
[ Darryl  Mar 07, 2018 ]
Q
Can I still use a clip-on hands free Bluetooth adapter for receiving calls while using this adaptor on my car/stereo/phone?
[ korichan  Oct 02, 2017 ]
1 answer
A
Most phones can only be paired to one Bluetooth device at a time. You can check with the manufacturer of your phone or your wireless carrier to confirm it's capabilities.

Q
What bluetooth protocols/technologies does this unit support? For example, does it support AptX? What version of bluetooth? Which profiles are supported?
[ Steve  Sep 19, 2017 ]
1 answer
A
We checked in with Crux to confirm here: All the CRUX BTS type interface are only for BT Audio streaming only, you cannot use it for phone calls. The only two Bluetooth profiles that are supported are the A2DP audio distribution profile, and AVRCP remote control profile. The BT chipset is 2.0.

A

[ dain  Apr 26, 2017 ]

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.
