Disappointed
Matthew from Lincoln, NE on 4/15/2023
2009 GMC Yukon
So on the plus side my stereo does more now than just light up...I have sound; which is good. I ordered this harness since it's supposed to keep the using of the wheel controls intact. It didn't; my steering wheel controls DO NOT WORK. So super bummed about that. And I have a background hum in my speakers that won't go away
Pros: Stereo works
Cons: No steering wheel controls, background hum

Straightforward way to wire up an aftermarket stereo in my Silverado, while keeping steering wheel controls functional. Don't bother trying to patch together all the stuff you need from other websites, just purchase this kit & be done with it.
Pros: Basically plug & play operation. Works with many aftermarket stereo brands. Decent directions.

I continue to use Crutchfield as a supplier for all y car audio needs. They pointed me in the direction of the Crux CS-GM29 Wiring Interface without me have ever hearing of them. I have now installed a few of these and have never been disappointed. These are simple to install and work great. It is really nice to retain the original feel of the factory installed steering wheel controls while upgrading to high end stereo equipment. Great job Crutchfield and THANKS...
Pros: Simple install and setup

Works great. It does change the audio tone of the chimes and blinkers. Manual said I would not retain my review camera, but that was not the case. I opted for Crutchfield to wire everything which made install a breeze.
Pros: Retained rear view camera despite manual saying otherwise.
Cons: Changes audio tone of chimes, but not that big of a deal. No longer able to use the usb port on the dash for audio, only charging, which is a minor con as the new head unit has a usb port.

Product works for the most part
Michael from Clarksville on 3/19/2023
2010 GMC Sierra
Installed in 2010 GMC Sierra, works great as far as steering wheel controls and factory controls. I recently installed new door speakers and bypassed the factory amp and then switch from the "Bose" connection to the "non-bose" connection. I have sound from all speakers but when I turn it up pretty loud, the whole radio shuts down and comes back on until volume is decreased. Not sure if this is related to this module or not. Speaker outputs have been verified with multimeter to make sure positive/negative connections were correct. I'm at a loss and very frustrated at this time. I also disconnected the factory tweeters to make sure it wasn't the resistance load messing with it. .
Pros: Retains factory controls
Cons: With aftermarket speakers installed and volume turned up, radio shuts off and on.

Nice harness, mine has issues.
Johnathan from MOUNT GILEAD, OH on 3/18/2023
2010 Chevrolet Impala
So this harness was easy to install, but about once a month, I have had to unplug this and plug it back in to keep my radio working. At first I thought it was the Kenwood, but then determined it to be this harness. It's a pain to have to remove dash bezel, radio and climate control, just to unplug and plug back in. And then to fix all the radio setting again. I'll be seeking warranty service on this item.
Pros: Ease of install, instructions
Cons: Prob just my defective one, but who knows.

Amy from Wyoming, MI on 3/2/2023
2009 Saturn Outlook
Fairly easy to install with the radio I got. Just follow the instructions. I don't like that the chime box makes my blinker sound different. But I liked being able to adjust the chime volume. It's quite a few cords, however, I suggest trying to pay attention to the placement of the antenna to avoid too much static from your radio.

Trace from Texas on 1/10/2023
2009 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500
Good when it works, but completely shuts down periodically. No radio, no turn signal sound, seat belt chime, nothing. I pull over and pull the 15A radio fuse under the hood which seems to to reset it, and then it works fine again, for a while... Sometimes an hour or two, sometimes a month. Also has a difference from how the factory setup worked in my 09 Silverado: if you don't pull the key out after turning the engine off, the radio will play indefinitely. OEM would shut off after 5-10 min. This is actually a nice feature, IF you know it's there. If not, it's a potential dead battery in the morning. I had to change my habit of leaving the keys in the ignition when parking in the garage.
Pros: Makes steering wheel controls, turn signal click, etc work.
Cons: Shuts down randomly and has to be reset by pulling the radio fuse under the hood.

I paid for the crutchfield wiring so this interface was ridiculously simple to install. The wires are long enough to be able to push the interface box back behind the dash. Wish I could give 2.5. I love this product when it works. But it upsets me when it doesn't. Time after time every 2-3 weeks I start my truck and no sounds and no radio. I always just find myself unplugging and plugging back in one of the factory plugs to the module. Don't know if this is a faulty GM plug or a faulty Crux plug. But it never fails unplugging and plugging back in.

This is my first ever interface I've purchased after maybe 14 years of playing in car audio. The booklet with links and instructions to help install make it super convenient considering I usually never cared to retain any factory settings. You live and you learn and with the easy info packet supplied with purchase it was a breeze to learn how to run an interface. Not to mention how quick i received it. Definitely an A+ from me.
Pros: The booklet included with purchase which guides you to were to look for more information concerning whatever equipment you've bought is a huge plus in the days of things barley coming with a manual

It gets the job done but not without compromise; the first issue is that the preset steering wheel controls didn't work with my Sony witch means that you can only have one function per button, and you will need to program each button. The second issue is that if you don't take your key out, the dash lights and radio will literally stay on forever or tell the battery is dead.
Pros: The chime is close to factory

I bought all of my stereo equipment from a local shop and hooked it all up myself. I didnt have any power to the head unit so I took it back and asked them to test the head unit in house to ensure it did work. Turns out that the wiring interface they sold me did not have 12v switched power and was told I would have to wire it up separately, which I thought was completely stupid. So I started searching around and came across Crutchfileds wiring harness. It came complete with everything I needed (steering wheel controls, factory bluetooth, and 12v switched power). 10/10 I would recommend their equipment and I will definitely shop here again.
Pros: Easy hook up Works exactly as advertised Simple instructions

Needs work
Dan from Wisconsin on 9/29/2020
2011 Chevrolet Tahoe
The Interface worked and the stereo sounds great, but the steering wheel buttons did not work without using the custom program function on the stereo. I thought it would be "plug and play". More annoying than that is the door/seatbelt chime and turn signal sound, which replace the sounds from the factory module. They are extremely annoying (and sound very "cheap"), but thankfully there is a volume control on it.
Pros: Easy to install
Cons: annoying sound, steering wheel buttons need to be assigned individually

This interface worked perfectly. It connects my steering controls on my 2011 Sierra as well as the Bose amp. It could not have been easier to connect. It even has the antenna adapter. I just had to connect wires, set some dip switches, abd plug in connectors. It literally couldn't be easier.

Not thrilled. Bought this for my brother's 2009 Silverado in January 2018. Worked for 2 years then just completely died. Positive it was installed correctly. Purchased Crutchfield's wiring service as well. It just doesn't provide power any more to the head unit. We tested the Pioneer harness directly to the power leads on the car and it works fine as long as the Crux interface is out of the picture.
Pros: Features
Cons: Unreliable

2007 GMC Yukon XL Denali
Crutchfield's research was incorrect for my vehicle. 07 Yukon XL Denali with Bose and without navigation. The Denali's have the Y91 audio system and the fade function does not work with this interface nor any others that I've found even though Crutchfield said it would. That was the reason I bought this one. But it did work well for about 4 months then started dropping out the front left speaker at random and making noise in the other speakers. Emailed their tech support and never heard back. What good is a warranty if they don't respond? I bought another brand of interface.
Pros: Small and easy to install. Worked well until it broke
Cons: No fade function with Y91 audio system. Didn't last long. Poor warranty/tech support

Either manufacturer or Crutchfield dropped the ball
Crutchfield customer from Chicago, IL on 8/11/2019
2007 GMC Sierra 1500
I ordered the pre-wired kit for the additional fee. After completion, the steering wheel controls did not work. Crutchfield throught the problem was the Crux module - having me take everything apart, disconnecting, resetting DIP switches, etc. Nothing helped, so they sent a new kit...not pre-wired...to replace the module. This is when I noticed the second kit had an additional steering wheel harnesses labeled "Alpine" which my first kit did not even have. I used this and they started working. I am a bit displeased with Crutchfield in that the correct harness was not initially included and that they never asked during the problems diagnosis if I installed harness a or b which would have solved the problem right away (I assumed that because there was only one in the first kit that it was the correct one). Also, the splicing is poor and has exposed wiring because too much wire was stripped and then not taped. They job may look OK to someone who doesn't know how wiring should look, but a quarter inch of exposed wiring at the ends of the splice is not OK and may cause electrical shorts to power/ground if wires touch which could ruin the new receiver or leave functionality inoperable. I should have saved the money and done the job right myself.
Pros: None
Cons: Not everything included, splicing is poor and has exposed wiring because too much wire was stripped and not taped.

Crux CS-GM29 Wiring Interface
Jason from AZ on 4/12/2018
2007 Chevrolet Avalanche
Great product and interfaces well with the vehicle, three things though: The illumination wire from the existing vehicle plug didn't have a wire in the new harness so that had to be bypassed. It has a wire that goes from the gmlan unit to the headunit, which outputs 12v fulltime regardless of illumination setting, but no wire that went to the existing factory harness (which does have an illumination wire), don't know if the illumination data is contained in the gmlan or not, I think it does but might be vehicle specific PID. The chime sound is a little on the weak side, took a little bit of adjustment in fitting in the dash to get the best sound out of it (good thing it's a compact unit), it would be nice to see a future integration similar to stock or a modular chime design. When using reverse parking system the beep is great, it's a little more rapid than the stock three speed beeps and gives more feedback as the speed of the beeps ramp up the closer you get to an object. It does occasionally lockup on that beeping sound though and the chime just stops, never a hard lockup and always resettable by taking it out of reverse and back in again. Overall a great product and very helpful in interfacing with my 07 Avalanche and Eonon ga2168. Used "western-union" splices with solder and heat-shrink when I installed the unit for very solid connections.
Pros: Almost everything needed to integrate with somewhat late model GM vehicles, worked well with my 07 Avalanche. Revived the Bose factory amplified system, great sound!
Cons: Chime is a bit weak and really tinny, not a deal breaker though, still works very well even with the reversing hiccup once in a while. Needs illumination wire to factory harness or bypass.
