So far so good. Extremely easy install on a 2006 GMC Sierra. Picture quality is fine both during the day and night. Feels well built and hopefully will have some longevity. Easily adjusted for viewing angle.

Installation was not difficult, camera has nice clear picture how ever I have not seen the guide lines but it could depend on the system that I have installed, I figured the lines would be automatically there as long as I did not cut the guide line wire. Still a good camera.

Camera looks steeply downward. Installation was very easy and straightforward. However, I mounted this camera where an OEM camera would go on my 2012 Tahoe, and the camera looks too steeply down. Its great for hooking up a trailer, but not good for seeing the area behind the vehicle.

Pros: Easy installation All required materials provided

Cons: Looks too steeply downward

Great color. However, the wide angle the camera shows, gives the impression that you are much farther away from an object then you think. Not like my back-up camera that came with my 2016 Nissan Frontier which is much more accurate in judging true distance.

Pros: Great color

Cons: misleading wide angle camera makes it seem you are further away than what you think.

I was very thorough when trying to research these cameras. Out of all the ones I saw, I was drawn to the CUL-09. I had a plan on how to install it onto a 2007 Toyota RAV4. This product came in a very generic looking box. Inside, it was carefully wrapped and only had a small sliver of paper that told what each lead did, as well as power and ground. The camera's lead has a detachable connector that attaches to the rest of the wiring harness. This is small enough to get it through the body using a small hole. I routed it through and past an existing hole in the RAV4's tailgate, using grommets along the way. The wire seems strong, but I did use wire loom protectors. I was able to get the camera lead all the way past the door flex and into the cabin before I had to connect the rest of the harness. The rest of the lead was more than enough to stretch from the back of the RAV4 to the dash behind the stereo. I was surprised to see that the power and ground leads were next to the video lead behind the stereo. I was able to tap into the stereo's Ignition 12V and Ground, so that it only comes on when the ignition is on. The camera image is very high quality. The guidance lines arent too helpful but can be deleted. The image can be reversed if necessary. It is great at night, as the camera still shows clearly even only using the light from the RAV4's backup lamps. Finally, mounting flexibilitymade it a great choice, as I had to turn it slightly due to an o

Pros: - Camera lead has a small connector so only a small hole needs to be drilled. - Power and Ground are with the video lead toward the end where it connects to the stereo. - Flexibility in mounting. - Great, Clear images even at night. - Very Small Footprint. - Universal. Connected it to a Pioneer AVH-X2800BS and it worked perfectly.

Cons: None that I could see.

Features

Rear-View Camera: The Crux CUL-09 rear-view camera can be installed in a variety of vehicles with an aftermarket in-dash multimedia or navigation receiver installed. Your aftermarket receiver must feature an integrated video monitor and a composite video camera input. Now you'll be able to view what's behind you on your in-dash receiver's video monitor when you put your vehicle in reverse.

Note: The Crux CUL-09 rear-view camera is meant as a back-up aid only; never solely rely on the rear-view camera when backing-up. In addition to using the rear-view camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.

CCD Image Sensor: The Crux CUL-09 rear-view camera features a CCD image sensor that offers 480 lines of resolution. It has 170° (horizontal) x 90° (vertical) viewing angle. The CCD image sensor has a low-light lux rating of 0.4.

Waterproof Housing: The Crux CUL-09 rear-view camera features a IP67 waterproof housing.

Park Assist Lines: The rear-view camera provides parking assist lines on the screen of your vehicle's in-dash aftermarket monitor. These parking lines are there to assist you when backing up into a parking space. There are two vertical lines which help you judge the left and right edges of the parking space and your vehicle. There are also 3 color-coded horizontal lines that are used to distinguish how close you are getting to the end of the parking spot - Green (Clear), Yellow (Getting Close), Red (Very Close).

Note: You can remove the Park Assist Lines by connecting the camera's two white wires together.

Mounting Options: The Crux rear-view camera features two integrated mounting holes with two screws included. The camera needs to be mounted from underneath the mounting surface with the screw-holes facing up, otherwise image from the camera will not be right side up.

Power & Signal Connections: The rear-view camera features an attached 23.75' composite video cable and 7' power/ground wires. The composite video cable plugs into your in-dash aftermarket multimedia or navigation receiver's composite video camera input. The power/ground wires will need to hardwired to power and ground of your vehicle.

Q
What does "lip mount" MEAN?!! I can't find ANY descriptions, instructions or references to the meaning of "lip mount" of this camera.

A
it means that you can mount it above your licence plate if you have an overhang above it. The "lip" refers to the overhang. It screws upward into whatever is above the license plate that overhangs. It is common to have the plate illumination in this overhang.
[ Randal  Jul 22, 2019 ]
A
Lip mount in this context refers to mounting the camera on the underside of something, i.e. under a rear spoiler, a license plate cut out, or even under a bumper.
