About the Crux SOCGM-17C Wiring Interface

Add a new radio

Installing a new car stereo can often mean losing your GM vehicle's factory warning chimes. Crux's SOCGM-17C wiring interface solves this problem, allowing you to install a new receiver while retaining the safety chimes and your Retained Accessory Power feature. This interface does not retain OnStar® or steering wheel audio controls.

Product Research

Radio Replacement Interface: The CRUX SOCGM-17C radio replacement interface retains select factory features in General Motors Class II vehicles when replacing your factory radio with an aftermarket head unit. The CRUX SOCGM-17C retains the following factory feature set.

  • Supports Bose, Monsoon, & Y-91 factory amplified systems (fader is not retained in Y-91 system); also works with non-amplified factory audio systems
  • 12 Volt Accessory output (3A max)
  • RAP (Retained Accessory Power) - keeps the radio powered after the key is off, until the driver door is opened or the OEM timer ends; whichever happens first
  • Illumination Output (250mA max)
  • Retains safety & warning chimes (adjustable level); safety & warning chimes include seat belt, check engine, key in ignition, low fuel, low oil, and lights on
Note: This interface does not support steering wheel control or OnStar.

Customer Q&A

Im replacing my factory radio with an aftermarket, also replacing my bose amp with a aftermarket, as well as all the speakers and adding a sub, I don't want the Bose, OnStar, or the warning chimes, my question is what else dose then interface do, and is it necessary?
[ MALIK  Oct 18, 2021 ]

The harness simplifies what could have been a wiring nightmare. I would definitely make the investment. My only regret was that I didn't spend a little more for the harness that maintained functionality for the steering wheel audio controls.
[ David  Oct 21, 2021 ]
I used mine in a 2003 Avalanche. I got a warning light when I didn't hook up one device (forget which one). I would say it is nessacry.
[ Shawn  Oct 21, 2021 ]
Will this bypass the factory amp?
[ Jacob  Jul 14, 2021 ]
1 answer
This is designed to retain the factory amp if there is one in the vehicle. We may have a receiver installation harness to bypass a factory amp and recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to check

Will this work with kenwood receivers?
[ Steven  Apr 18, 2021 ]

You will need the make and model number of your car and also it does work with Kenworth the wiring harness that I have is for Chevrolet Corvette C6 if you have that car it will work on Kenwood
[ Henry  Apr 18, 2021 ]
Does this include steering controls and onstar or ar those seperate adadpters?
[ Lance  Jul 27, 2020 ]
1 answer
The ability to retain steering wheel controls with aftermarket receivers will be determined by the receiver you are using and the vehicle you have. For full information on this type of integration (including the parts you will need) please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

So do you need this for an after market radio to be ables to use factory bose system?
[ Dallas  Apr 16, 2020 ]

I ordered one form my son's truck to use the existing wiring system and to plug the new deck into the existing system. Saves time and splicing into the existing harness. Hope this helps
[ Charles  Apr 16, 2020 ]
I would say yes!

[ Dallas  Apr 16, 2020 ]

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

I have a satellite ready deck KD-X340BTS to install. Will xm still work if I use this adapter?
[ Bill  Feb 12, 2019 ]
1 answer
This is the wiring harness and chime I needed for my make/model of vehicle. These are vehicle specific. I believe you have a separate adapter for enabling the satellite radio, that may be universal but not sure. My stereo has a separate spot for plugging in a satellite radio adapter for reception. Hope that helps.

Is the chime sound heard through the speakers or through this unit?
[ Daniel  Aug 06, 2018 ]

[ David  Aug 07, 2018 ]
With this particular model, the chime sound is heard through the internal speaker on the unit, not through the car stereo speakers.
