About the Crux SOOCR-26 Wiring Interface

Wire in a new radio

Crux's SOOCR-26 interface ensures that you can keep the factory amplifier in your Chrysler-made vehicle when you replace the factory radio; the interface also works in vehicles without a factory amplifier. Once you connect this interface to the wires on your new stereo's wiring harness, you've covered the power, ground, and factory speaker connections for your new stereo.

The SOOCR-26 interface also offers the reverse, illumination, and Vehicle Speed Sensor (V.S.S.) outputs that you'll need if you're installing a navigation receiver. The Crux interface is designed to work with the factory Chrysler CAN-bus systems.

Product highlights:

  • connect a new stereo in select 2005-17 Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep models
  • provides connections for Vehicle Speed Sensor (V.S.S.), reverse gear, and illumination for installing navigation receivers
  • works in systems with or without a factory amplifier

Features

Radio Replacement Interface: The CRUX SOOCR-26 is a radio replacement interface for select 2005-up Chrysler, Dodge & Jeep Vehicles with a factory CAN-BUS system. It facilitates the integration of an aftermarket radio and enables retention of factory features when replacing a factory installed radio in select Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles (with or without factory-installed amps).

Note: This interface does not retain the vehicle's factory Uconnect system, if equipped.

Vehicle Compatibility: The CRUX SOOCR-26 radio replacement interface works with the following 2005-up Chrysler, Dodge & Jeep Vehicles with a factory CAN-BUS system (as of 3/3/2016):

Make Model Year
Chrysler 200 2011-2014
300 2005-2010
Aspen 2007-2009
PT Cruiser 2006-2010
Sebring 2007-2010
Town & Country 2008-2015
Dodge Avenger 2007-2013
Caliber 2007-2012
Charger 2006-2010, 2013
Durango 2004-2013
Grand Caravan 2009-2015
Journey 2009-2010, 2013
Magnum 2005-2008
Nitro 2007-2011
Ram 2006-2012
Jeep Commander 2006-2010
Compass 2007-2015
Grand Cherokee 2005-2013
Liberty 2008-2012
Patriot 2007-2015
Wrangler 2007-2015
Mitsubishi Raider 2006-2009
Volkswagen Routan 2009-2013

Amplified or Non-Amplified Systems: The CRUX SOOCR-26 can be used in Chrysler, Dodge, & Jeep vehicles with or without a factory amplified system. It supports factory Infinity amplifier systems & factory Boston Premium amplified systems.

Note: Front & Rear fading are lost and not adjustable when using the SOOCR-26 to replace a factory radio with an aftermarket head unit in vehicles with a factory amplified system. In some vehicles with factory premium sound systems, you may encounter white noise or hissing after replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket head unit, which will require the installation of a resistor (not included) on the front channels - see included installation instructions for further details.

Retained Accessory Power (R.A.P.): The ignition power source of many Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles keeps the radio on until one of the doors is opened; this feature is lost when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket head unit without the proper installation accessories. The SOOCR-26 is designed to retain the R.A.P. feature and keep the radio powered after the key is off, until the driver door is opened or the OEM timer ends; whichever happens first.

+12V Accessory Output: In many Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles, there is no 12-volt accessory wire in the factory harness, which requires the installer to run an accessory wire to the fuse box or underneath the steering column when installing an aftermarket radio. The SOOCR-26 is designed to provide a 12V/2A switched accessory output (red wire).

Navigation Outputs: The CRUX SOOCR-26 radio replacement interface module provides a VSS (vehicle speed sense) and a Reverse Gear output to make installing an aftermarket Navigation radio simpler and less time consuming.

CAN-BUS Harness: Two CAN-BUS wiring harnesses are included, but only one will be used based on your make, model, year vehicle. Each harness has a 22-pin connector which plugs into your vehicle's factory radio harness and a 12-pin connector which plugs into the Crux interface module. The wiring harnesses also provide the following bare-wire leads which will need to be soldered or crimped to your aftermarket head unit's wiring harness:

Wire Color Function
Black Chassis Ground
Red +12 Volt Accessory
Yellow +12 Volt Constant
Orange Illumination
Blue/White Amp Turn-On
White Left Front Speaker +
White/Black Left Front Speaker -
Gray Right Front Speaker +
Gray/Black Right Front Speaker -
Green Left Rear Speaker +
Green/Black Left Rear Speaker -
Violet Right Rear Speaker +

Kristina was really helpful..I can get the parts cheaper, but SHE sold me. I don't like the delivery estimate of Monday, 2/6, for a 3 day delivery so I'm going to look through all the parts I already have and see if I can improvise. I've installed lots of stereos, etc. and I've always had good luck with Crutchfield and superb service. I build high end computers for a living so I fear little, but it would take ALL DAY to cut, solder and heat shrink my way through this & I DON'T wanna! [ Kevin  Feb 01, 2017 ]

I replace my Jeep Grand Cherokee radio using this connection.
