this was shown to be a complete kit based on my 2006 mercedes benz c230 with the harman/kardon sound system and it is not ..... you will not use this kit and have a fully functional aftermarket radio which is not disclosed with the kit you will need a fiber optic decoder box which was not provided with the kit otherwise you will not be able to get any sound from your stereo through factory speakers feel like i wasted money on this kit as it is still useless with out the fiber optic decoder box

Works with 2002 Mercedes CLK55 Bose Amp
Richard from West Hempstead, NY on 10/10/2022
2002 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
I bought this as an experimental purchase for my 2002 Mercedes CLK55 AMG and I paired it with a Boss Elite BE7ACP-FT. This kit came with everything I needed and the instructions were quite straightforward. I hooked up everything per instructions and my heart sank when the radio did not power on. I contacted Crutchfield for help with bench-testing the radio - radio bench test was successful. I then contacted Crux and they were able to walk me through switching an internal DIP switch (from 5V to 3V) to make it compatible with the Boss BE7ACP-FT - fired right up! I was pleasantly surprised to see that this interface taps into CANBUS and provided factory Accessory style power features, like radio playing after switching off the car, and then shuts off when you remove the key. It even sends 12V reverse light signal which I used to power my backup camera. Didn't need to splice my reverse light bulb wiring at all! Volume control on steering wheel also works but phone buttons do not. Not surprising though since this analog-style wired cell phone is from the stone age.
Pros: Straightforward wiring and factory style connections. CAN signal tapping provides Reverse light, accessory and illumination signals, along with steering wheel volume control.
Cons: None.

I own a 2000 Mercedes Benz E320 wagon. I used this harness when converting my factory single DIN setup to a double DIN Alpine ILXW650 setup. This harness is perfect! I retained all steering wheel controls, everything works as it should, and it was a breeze to install. Thank you!
Pros: Everything works. Easy to install. Instructions were clear.

Wire Looms recommended
Damian from San Diego, CA on 7/22/2022
2002 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Using the prewired loom saved me a half day. The Connections were crimped like I never could have done. Looked clean and neat. In the end, unboxed everything, and slipped out the old Factory unit. Made 3 connections. And slipped in the new head unit. It worked the first time. Never have I replaced a radio in less than an hour! I will purchase the SWC, harnesses, etc.. and have Crutchfield wire them up. no guessing, not switches to set! perfect!! GREAT JOB team CRUTCHFIELD!!! Oh and this was my son's car. And now He's a believer too!!
Pros: Clean and Neat. Simplifies installation
Cons: took an extra day (wha ?) but it was worth it.

Works well, but durability may be questionable
Crutchfield customer from N Chesterfld, VA on 8/28/2021
2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
This product works as designed. If you have experience with car audio installation is not difficult. My reason for rating it 4 stars instead of 5 is that this is the second Crux interface I have installed in my C230. The first unit failed after 4 years. This leads me to believe that durability may be an issue. I originally thought that the head unit had failed because I would frequently lose the left front channel and eventually the head unit would not power on. The Crux is a tight fit in the space available in a C230 if you use a 2DIN head unit and have other items to fit in the space such as RCA cables for an amp.
Pros: Good support for steering wheel controls. Good support from Crutchfield
Cons: Possible need to replace in a few years Tight fit in my car/system

Crux SWRBM-57 Wiring Interface
Crutchfield customer from Rockwall, TX on 6/16/2020
2001 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Connection was good. The bypass for the possible use of my steering wheel buttons won't work because it doesn't state that it only works for a hand full of radios. Not the one I have. The one I have actually has inputs for steering wheel buttons but there it no way to connect this harness to the radio I got. There are no wiring diagrams or info on how to connect my style radio to this harness adapter. Other than that works good, but that is the only reason I got it. Guess I may just need to update my radio eventually.
Pros: Easy connection and highly visible markings.
Cons: Only connects to limited radios as per instructions.

Pros: Ease of installation
Cons: Harness is not designed to integrate the car microphone but the one that comes with the head unit was not hard to run.

Finally found something compatible for my 2009 Cayenne S (no Bose, CDR-30). Was able to utilize a pioneer system and retain steering wheel controls (excluding mute).
Pros: Provides simple installation by adding the necessary accessory and illumination lines. Compatible with the can-bus system.
Cons: Durametric is reporting a few errors concerning the PCM2 but I'll have to assume it's due to the missing factory unit. No errors/messages on the vehicle menu so I'm happy.

Does not work with Bose factory systems
William from New Orleans, LA on 2/3/2016
Even though I was skeptical, Crutchfield adviser assured me it would run the factory Bose Amp & speakers in my car. It does not. An evening of soldering and installing wasted. Ended up installing an aftermarket amp and speakers - a lot of extra work, time and money I did not plan for. Harness worked fine on them.
Pros:
Cons: Does not work on Bose systems

Straight forward install
Q-man from California on 2/27/2015
2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
Installed in a 2005 Mercedes Benz C240-Base sedan. Previously I had purchased the Axxess ASWC-1 Controller and had nothing but problems. Constant issues with the Air bag warning and random door unlocks while parked until it stopped working all together. So obviously I was not going to order another one. This unit was a much better install as the harness coupled perfectly with the factory harness. No extra splicing needed. Worked from the start and also gave me the option for illumination control.
Pros: No extra splicing needed. Connects to factory harness. Works.
Cons: Only volume and station/track controls available.

Crux Installation
Jay McC from Las Vegas, NV on 11/21/2014
2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
I received the Crux and Pioneer double din from Crutchfield nervous to install the system myself. I Consider myself to be very handy, but I have never put in a car audio system myself. First off, the Crux had very good instructions, but I did have a couple of questions I needed to discuss with a Crutchfield technical advisor. These guys are amazing! I liked the simplicity of the advisers knowing who I was and what items I ordered because of caller ID. The Crux and the Pioneer went in without any issues
Pros: Easy to install, works as expected
Cons: I was hoping the steering wheel phone button, would work with Siri. That's my only complaint

As a matter of fact, the only button that didn't work was the phone button (which I expected since I wasn't using the built-in phone any longer). Overall, very impressed.
Pros: Easy to use/install Lots of functionality. Volume Controls Track Changing Controls Function Changing Controls (Radio -> Aux -> CD, etc.) Air Circulation Control (BMW 3-Series)
Cons: None!

Installed in 2008 BMW 3 series. If it worked it would have been great but the 12v constant connection from the adapter goes away after roughly 2 hours, causing my stereo to reset. I read that BMW's go into a deep sleep mode after a few hours and if you want 12v constant, you have to either run a connection to the battery or tap the fuse box.
Pros: Easy to wire up.
Cons: 12v constant went away after 2 hours causing stereo to reset.
