You'll only be able to retain your steering wheel audio controls with a compatible car stereo made by Alpine, Blaupunkt, Clarion, JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer, or Sony. No other brands are currently compatible.
Crux's SWRTY-61S interface ensures that you can keep the factory steering wheel controls in your Toyota when installing an aftermarket radio. Connect this interface to the wires on your new stereo's wiring harness, and you've covered the power, ground, and factory speaker connections for your new stereo. The interface also retains the auxiliary input in select 2007-up Toyota models.
Note: the SWRTY-61S interface allows you to keep your steering wheel controls with radios from Alpine, Blaupunkt, Clarion, JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer, and Sony. The interface does not support the factory JBL amplifier.
Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts please identify your vehicle if you haven’t done so. You can also call an Advisor for more information.
Works good. Good quality.

wiring harness worked perfectly
Cons: No cons
Wiring diagram works fine but did not work with steering wheel control.
Works good. Good quality.
Pros: Quality and functionality.
Cons: Needs clearer step-by-step instructions.
Must have. Made it very easy to install.
Excellent, made the job so easy. Plug and play
Easy to install...
excellent interface, backyard-mechanic worthy
Works great with both my truck and Pioneer stereo
Very easy install
Pros: Very easy install
Works flawlessly with my steering wheel controls. There are multiple different connectors included depending on what head unit you bought. It can be noted that the controller on the Crux controlls different features depending on the model of head unit...for example: holding the volume button down on your steering wheel to quickly advance the volume level works with some head units and not with others...It also tells you what the buttons will do individually...like a mode button on your steering wheel = XXXX function on your head unit. I love the thing and I'm super glad I could keep my steering wheel controls. Thanks!
The only reason this is a 4 is because one of the harnesses had a wire that was not all the way seated into the pin connector and I had to repair it before the steering wheel controls would work. Now that it's fixed it works great.
This was the first car stereo that I have installed on my own. At first the directions on the Master Sheet seemed a bit overwhelming, but as soon as I tackled the task step by step everything came together strikingly easily. I was actually a little shocked when I started the car up for the first test and the stereo, steering wheel controls, and bluetooth mic worked perfectly (I was expecting SOMETHING to have gone wrong).
The pre-wired harness made my installation a snap
this harness was a perfect match for my 06 toyota 4 runners stock non-jbl factory radio. i made a mistake and gave wrong information about my radio and tech support sent me the correct harness over night. these guys went above and beyond my expectations.
Pros: perfect match from toyota 4 runner to kenwood dmx7704s
Wiring interface worked great. Take you time. A couple of the wires had labels that were a bit confusing, but the wire colors all matched up. I soldered un-insulated butt connectors and heat shrink to join the wires.
The harness worked out great. I was able to mate the wires to the stereo sitting in the comfort of my couch. Then pulled out the factory radio, connected harness to the factory connectors and I instantly had connectivity. This kit included the steering wheel control adapter. All together this made installing a new radio quite simple. I should mention, the coloring harness wires of the match the color the new stereo wires which also increase ease of wiring.
Pros: Colors match that of new radio's connector Plug and play for steering wheel controls and factory wiring
Very easy to install
Good harness, wires are good quality gauge and the plastic is easy to strip if necessary. I feel it would be easier if they did less to save money by making a one harness for all" since I ended up cutting several of the connections not needed, however that's my own take. Highly suggest using traditional connectors (red) and not any sort of quick-connector. Don't take shortcuts.
Crutchfield knocked it out of the park again, making sure that this was EXACTLY what my son needed to keep his steering wheel controls when installing his new stereo. As a parent, I appreciate this very much as it gives us the peace of mind that he will be safer driving to/from college not having to take his hands off the wheel or his eyes off the road. Thanks Crutchfield!
Awesome product! Unfortunately my vehicles harness to retain steering wheel controls was previously removed, but with the outstanding help from Crutchfields tech team we were able to wire everything correctly. Now everything is working properly!
This wiring harness is awesome ! It's plug & Play : so easy to match colors, everything is labeled, it's gonna save you hours ! And you can definitely trust all the excellent online reviews regarding Crutchfield's tech support : The only question I had regarding one of the unused wires was answered by a technician (via email) in less than an hour :)
Pros: - Plug and play with a Pioneer AVIC-7200-NEX - Excellent technical support (if needed)
Cons: honestly ? none
This interface made the install very easy. I'd give it five stars if it came with twist-on wire connectors. Fortunately, I had some on hand. It's not a complete interface kit without them.
It would have been so hard to install my new stereo without these wires and connectors! This wiring interface is very easy to use and covers all the bases. I'm very glad the manufacturer did the hard work so I don't have to figure out all the wiring myself ... it's just plug and play!
Wired up easily but the directions were not specific on the final installation. Called tech support at Crutchfield, plugged it in and the unit worked perfectly. I mounted the microphone inside the tray on the dash kit. Looks great, works fine.
OMG, this is totally worth getting. It was setup exactly for my vehicle and just plugged right in. The factory steering wheel controls work exactly as they should.
Pros: Made putting in my new car stereo super easy
Cons: None, works great!!!
Well worth the money. This came with clear instructions and made installation a breeze. It also allows full function of the controls on the steering wheel.
Pros: Really simplifies installation and makes steering wheel controls functional.
Easy to install. Directions were right on. No problems.
Pros: Couldn't have been easier to install. Good Job!
Very easy to use, no confusion about what to plug in where. This harness let me retain my steering wheel controls when I replaced my stock stereo. They don't quite function the same way, but they still work. Volume buttons work the same way but my up and down keys used to move between my station presets. Now it is works like the stereo's seek button.
I was kind of expecting a plug and play, not having to join the wires up. But overall, still made the job easier.
This wiring harness is the bomb! Easy color match then plug & Play. Awesome!!!! 10 stars!!! Save hours!
Channel controls on steering wheel do not always change stations in order. Didn't realize the interface would not allow you to continue to use the voice command button. Otherwise works as advertised.
Cons: Loss of voice command button on steering wheel.
Great product and saved at least 4 hours of labor splicing into factory wiring. Straightforward installation and worked seamlessly as advertised. The wiring color match was a big help and took the guess work out.
Pros: Flawless connectors Wiring color match alleviating guess work Minimal space lost due to new connectors
Cons: Lots of loose wires - needed to use electrical tape to wrap to keep tidy Instructions could be improved somewhat
Quick and easy
Great interface use of all factory controls
Wiring was easy to follow, but instructions for the radio set up was lacking: 2 wires present to connect to 1 wire from unit (I.e. You have to choose to connect either the blue and white or the solid blue to the corresponding solid blue wire. No instructions with kit on recommendations/function between the two wires. Per online forums via Google, we apparently chase the wrong choice as there is static for all radio stations AM and FM. We will have to disassemble the unit and reconfigure in hopes this is he solution to have radio functionality. Would be helpful to have included in the kit helpful tips between how to choose between the two wires.
Pros: Color coding makes it simple and easy to follow
Cons: Two wires to potentially connect to radio function with no helpful description on how to best choose between the two
Used this when installing Blaupunkt NJ 220 in my '07 Camry - overall very simple and effective installation! Only issue was that the instructions did not specify steering wheel control programming for the Blaupunkt receiver. Crutchfield tech support was able to help and advised me to program the unit to the Sony settings - works perfectly!
Pros: Quality products and easy install
Cons: Instructions don't cover settings for all brands
Does exactly what it says it will. Easy to follow wiring guide. Conveniently pre-trimmed wire ends to connect to HU.
Pros: No programming needed, good instructions, pre-trimmed wire ends
Cons: A little bulky but it all fit back into the stereo space with a little cajoling.
Used this wiring interface to install a Pioneer AVH-291BT head unit in my 2009 Toyota Tundra. Made installation a snap!
Pros: Perfect fit for '09 Tundra Easy to install Excellent value
So happy to have my steering wheel controls back. Everything is working great. . . LOVE IT!
Pros: Have my controls back.
This wiring kit makes it so easy and practical to work the installation of the new stereo.
Pros: I like that the wiring kit is so practical and easy to work with.
Perfect wiring set
Nothing to this. Just line up the correct wires, solder them or what ever you want to use, set the crux steering wheel adapter and done. Couldn't be easier.
Pros: Works exactly as described.
Nice one-piece harness for taking care of everything (power, speakers, SWC, etc.).
Pros: Easy to use
made the gob simple and easy
Used this product to connect the factory wiring to a Pioneer unit. This makes the installation so easy and allows you to keep your steering wheel controls.
Pros: Makes the installation plug and play
easy to hook up even for a first time user. good directions
This item did everything I need. The manufacturer could have made the direction a little clearer when it came to wiring the antenna booster, but Crutchfield tech support answered my questions quickly with no problem after that.
Simple to set up with just a few switches. Solder all connections to head unit harness. Can learn easily online with videos if you haven't done before. My big issue with this interface is the controls don't match up with what is in the manual. For Toyota and Pioneer, Crux says that the up and down buttons on steering wheel are going to be up and down PRESET for short press. However, it actually is up and down TUNE. That is not very useful for me. There is no setting is Pioneer to change this. Crutchfield technical support says that this is up to Pioneer. I attempted to contact Crux customer support on web - No response. In the end, still very satisfied overall.
Pros: Simple, works, good instrutions
Cons: Steering wheel controls not as advertised
Spot on connections. Doesn't get much simpler.
Worked perfect. Made retaining the steering wheel controls a snap. Definitely recommend.
Purchased this for my mother's Toyota Camry. Installation was a snap, follow the instructions carefully and it will work perfectly the first time! I waited 6 months to review this... Inlike to give things some test time before I review an item. It lost 1 star when the battery was replaced in my mother's car. The module stopped working when the new battery was connected and I had to pull the dash back apart, unplug the module then plug it back in. It prevented the stereo from turning on at all. It apparently gets confused when the battery is disconnected and requires resetting after the battery is reconnected.
Pros: Easy installation, well done instructions
Cons: Doesn't play nicely after battery is disconnected and reconnected.
This worked perfectly for installing a new head unit in my 2011 Camry.
Pros: Got the job done.
Works as advertised...I actually use the steering wheel controls more than ever with my new Pioneer head unit. You couldn't install these wrong if you tried!!
Pros: Easy to install
I just purchased this crux steering wheel interface for a 2010 Tacoma works perfect and it was real easy to install I recomend this product
Used this wiring interface to install a Pioneer AVH-X3800BHS. This product worked great, was able to maintain the steering wheel controls on my wife's 2010 Toyota Camry. The wiring is fairly intuitive in that you connect like colored wires. I did have to call Crutchfield support to ask them how to connect some that didn't have a match. I also had to ask where to connect the bluetooth mic as there are two potential spots to put it. Very happy with this purchase, works as expected. Thanks Crutchfield!
Pros: STeering wheel controls work perfect! Everything works as expected. Made install very easy.
Cons: Wiring instructions could be a little more clear.
Perfect, instructions were clear and right on.
Pros: Retained factory controls, easy install
This product works great for me without any issue. Perfect wiring for the connection. great job Crutchfield.
Very easy to set up with connecting all the wires by color code. The instructions show the position the receiver has to be for each brand of compatible radio . Works perfectly and very happy to have steering wheel control for my radio installation upgrade!
Pros: Helps retain your steering wheel controls when making upgrades to factory radio Easy to open packaging
Awesome, very easy way in a Toyota to keep your steering wheel controls. Harness was very high quality.
Pros: High Quality, easy to install.
Easy to install and works great. Steering wheel controls are a little touchy but still work good.
a must have
Makes Actual Install Easy it Took 20 minutes if that. Study Instructions ahead of time
Pros: Instructions are a little Vague. unit You figure out what You are Looking @ so Study Instructions ahead of time
Cons: Make Wiring Easy. very Nice
Easy to use, easy to install. Instructions were somewhat vague, but once I got everything connected and in the right place it works very well!
Pros: Works well
Cons: Instructions could be a bit more informative.
Work great, plus the Crux interface built in Steering Access Control. You don't need to get ASWC-1 for your vehicle. I would recommend to talk to an advisor first, before you order. He or She will point you to the right direction. I wish I have done that. Now I have to return the ASWC-1. Easy to install , all the wires can be intimidate. When in doubt , call them up. That's what great about Crutchfield . They employed the best people. I've been shopping with them since 1986.
Pros: Great interface, plug and play sort of.
Cons: For me all the wires, intimidate. But a phone call to Crutchfield will solved my fear of wires...
The harness was easy to install and setup. The instructions were straight forward and easy to follow. The steering wheel controls on my Toyota Solara work just like the OEM stereo did.
Pros: Good instructions
Worked perfectly, no issues whatsoever.
worked perfectly connecting my kenwood DDX6902S to my 2010 Tacoma 4-door.
Wires matched right up to the pioneer receiver I was installing in my 2009 Tacoma. I had one question about a wire my receiver didn't use and costumer service was easy to reach and very nice. I Evan got a hold of the service while installing at 6pm at night.
Worked perfectly on a 2005 Toyota Sienna for adding steering wheel controls to a pioneer radio. The only down side is add another box, and lots more wires so you have to find a good place to cram all this behind the deck.
Cons: hard to cram all the wires and extra module behind dash.
Worked great but had to buy a rca to 3.5 to complete install for factory aux to work in my 2009 tacoma
Pros: Very easy and straight forward install, steering controls work perfect
Cons: Had to purchase a rca to 3.5 to complete install for factory aux
Easy to install! Perfect for my 2009 Rav4 sport! It connected easy (make sure you have the switches in the right position. They came from the factory wrong and I had to get them all in the right position before the controls would work). But it controls the radio exactly as I expected.
Pros: Easy to install Work as advertized
Cons: Switches where in wrong position for a toyota from factory.
This has been the best module I have used. I had two other brands that died on two different vehicles. I now have two of these and they work every time. I knocked off one star because when you hit the volume up button on the wheel, it will go up two numbers in volume sometimes instead of just one. I don't mind because they work perfectly other than that.
Pros: Easy to install. Connect it to the head unit wiring and then plug and play to the vehicle. No tapping into the vehicle wiring.
Cons: Just that going up two on volume instead of one number when you hit the volume up and it only happens sometimes.
No wiring diagram. Color coded wires not completely the same. Steering wheel control lost. Wasted money for the wiring harness.
Cons:Crutchfield response on 9/26/2016 Whenever you encounter a problem with anything you purchase from Crutchfield, especially a situation like this, please contact our customer service or tech support teams right away. They can help you solve the problem and get the interface installed and working. We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
It was a perfect fit for my 2011 Tacoma, everything works great. Easy install.
A must have
Pros: Use of steering wheel controls
Cons: Gps antenna connector should be compatible with factory GPS antenna connector
Very easy diy install and great price.
Although this harness works as intended, it leaves an untidy result. Would be better if the bare wires were already connected to a plug for the replacement stereo.
I am not much of a "car" or "stereo" person, so I was nervous about self-installation of a new car stereo. I have to say that this wiring harness made installation very easy. The color coding was very simple to follow. In the end, there was 1 wire that I didn't know what to do with and called Crutchfield Tech Support. They gave me an answer over the phone in just minutes. The installation went great and I love my new car stereo.
Pros: Fit perfect for my Toyota 4Runner
Worked as described, colouring of wires matched up easily to my head unit. Only tricky part is getting aux rca cables to work with oem aux port.
The wiring interface made installation a breeze and I love that I was able to retain use of my steering wheel audio controls. I could not be happier with this kit.
not so easy to understand at firs. doesn't control the radio as it should
Cons: radio controlCrutchfield response on 7/27/2016 Once we saw this review, our Tech Support team reached out to help Nissim. We'll either help him get the interface working the way it should, or help him return it for an exchange or refund.
Sure, I would have loved if I hadn't had to wire it together myself. And yes, the instructions felt a little vague/lacking. But I took my time and it all worked out really well. I was worried about losing existing functionality when replacing the factory unit with an aftermarket one, but this allowed me to keep the existing steering wheel controls and that's what I wanted. Also, doing the actual wiring felt pretty rewarding, even if it was also a little daunting.
Cons: Needed a quick trip to the hardware store to buy wiring connectors. Not really a "Con" because it didn't claim it had them, but I also didn't realize it would need them. Anyhow no biggie, but if you read this, realize you'll need some wiring connectors (or electrical tape) to complete the connection.
Good kit, instructions should be re-written
I needed a kit so I could keep my steering wheel controls in my 2012 Tundra. This wiring harness works perfectly, Thanks Crutchfield!
When I first took it out of the box it looked very intimidating. But once I started doing the install it all made sense in all matched up perfectly. And it worked!
Pros: Matches factory wire harness, wires have description printed on them.
Cons: Instructions could be a little more detailed.
The wiring harness is typical and worked fine, but the steering wheel audio control interface box lasted two whole days before failing.
Pros: Harness worked fine.
Cons: Steering wheel audio control interface failed after two days.
Best thin g to do is to get the harinis it will make your life much much ezer. It will save you hours of pain and wireing
Very easy to use, came with simple and inclusive instructions, and kept my steering wheel controls.
Pros: Easy to install and follow color pattern.
Cons: A little big
Perfectly integrated my new stereo into my Sienna. Kept all factory functions on the steering wheel
Pros: Easy to build and install Keeps all functions from steering wheel
Color for color, it matched my radio's wiring. Be careful to attach the antenna power wire. My Toyota has an undocumented wire attachment that needs to get power, otherwise very limited radio reception. The only wires that don't match up (I think it was solid blue to blue with white stripe.) I also recommend "heat shrinkable tubing" to seal the wires and provide great insulation. This tubing is available at most hardwares stores.
Pros: Very easy to follow. Did not take much time at all.
Simple plugs and play. Allowed me to retain my steering wheel controls.
Pros: Simple, price, quality
This wiring package was great. Very easy to splice all wires together. Instructions could be more thorough, had to contact customer support for some wires that were not used
Pros: Very easy to use
Cons: A little more detail for wires that might not be used
Great product - I lined up the wires color for color and had a trouble free experience. I got the option that allows the steering wheel radio controls to work with the new radio and that worked great.
Pros: Everything was included and worked great
Cons: Documentation was a little vague, but if you read through it like it says in the instructions, you will have no problems
Made install sooooooo easy. Can't imagine trying to make all the splices this thing saved me. Worth every penny.
Great for OEM applications.
This harness did everything I wanted. I don't do this very often, so I was unclear about a few of the wires. I called Crutchfield and a tech told me immediately what to do and it worked perfectly. 5 Stars for Crutchfield tech support.
It was well worth the money to retain the factory steering wheel controls.
Pros: Very easy to program with the dip switches.
The customized wiring harnesses supplied with all the Crutchfield car stereos I have installed (three so far) are the reason I wouldn't get a car stereo anywhere else. I did have one question towards the end of my installation, so I called Crutchfield's tech support line and had my answer inside of three minutes. Thanks guys! I bought the extra kit that hooked up the steering wheel controls - you have to go into the settings menu to adjust some of it. Works better than the OEM setup, as the controls are customizable.
Pros: Ease of installation, improvement over OEM in steering wheel control flexibility.
I used this to install a Kenwood DDX9702S in my 2010 Tacoma. It took 15 or 20 minutes to solder this adapter to the radio's harness, there are a lot of wires. I sealed all the connections with heat shrink tube. When I plugged it in everything worked perfectly. For the steering wheel controls I ignored the 1/8 inch jack (just leave the cover on it) and connected the appropriate wire. Yes, just one wire. There was one wire that had a strange label and no match on the radio harness so I just left it. Turns out that was the right call. Everything worked properly on the first try, including all steering wheel control functions - that makes the harness more than worth the price.
Pros: Worked great - just match colors and connect the wires.
Cons: Directions weren't entirely clear - I would have like to know there may be an unused wire. I had to shove so much wire behind the radio and under the dash I wasn't sure it would all fit, I still worry that there might be wires that are pinched or rubbing somewhere.
The interface works fairly well. Lost some minor functionality from the factory radio but most of it works. Installation instructions were a bit unclear so it took a little longer to install than I had expected. No other complaints so far.
Pros: Easy to install once you figure the instructions out. Small, compact, versatile and maintains most functionality.
Cons: Installation instructions could use a little work to make them clearer.
I wanted to change the head unit on my 2013 Tundra but I did not want to lose the steering wheel controls. This was recommended to me by Crutchfield when I was getting ready to check out so I purchased it. The installation was straight forward and worked perfectly once I had it installed. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to repalce their head unit and keep the functionality of their steering wheel controls.
Pros: Keeps the factory steering wheel controls. Easy to install.
Works as it should in my 2010 Tacoma and easy to install.
Pros: easy install, no programming necessary
Allowed me to do all the wire crimping inside and then go out and pretty much plug it in. Very happy.
It did the job, all controls work great.
Fairly easy install and works perfectly. Have to be careful with the little white switches, so they don't move on you while cramming all the wires behind the headunit.
Pros: Easy install, cheap, works perfectly
Cons: A LOT of wires
Great low price when purchased with Radio as a package. Good all in one install as this has power, front/rear speakers & steering wheel control, etc. in this kit.
Pros: Easy to understand wiring instructions
Cons: Would have liked some wire ties or Velcro to be included to hold module in place. No big deal had some of my own
Worked perfect. Steering wheel controls, Aux input, Sub Switch, all worked great. I expected issues with the FJ 9 speaker system....got none!
Pros: Easy quick install. Clearly marked wires and instructions
Steering wheel controls do not function as promised
Cons:Crutchfield response on 6/23/2015 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
The wiring interface had simple instructions for basic operations
Pros: good support from the help center for wires that are not clearly marked on the wiring diagram
Cons: after following the advise of the help line they instructed me to attach the "pink" wire to the parking break switch located by the parking break pedal , after doing this I still could not get the DVD to work at all still tryingCrutchfield response on 6/17/2015 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Made installation of the new receiver soooooo easy!
Pros: Easy to use
Nice. Works pretty good
This wiring made the installation of my Pioneer AVH-X4700BS so easy, I had a hard time believing people pay $200 for this type of installation.
Pros: Makes life easy, as close to plug and play as possible
Made install easy, Steering wheel controls work perfect.
Pros: Makes the work on connecting the wiring easy
Cons: Instructions could be better, had to call tech support because it wasn't complete
Great product! Easy installation all wire colors match after market head unit (kenwood). All plugs fit with factory wires. No splicing wires required. If you want an easy and uncomplicated install for your head unit get this wire harness. Thanks Crutchfield!
Pros: It works perfectly!
Simple install. works well.
Pros: Plug and play. A few minutes wiring up.
Buy this harness if you are new to installs like myself, package was shipped Quickly and properly (thanks Crutchfield) . Just take your time and read instructions, its mostly color to color with your radio harness, quick and easy. I installed a KENWOOD DNX 891 into a 2011 Taco with SWC and all features worked great. Had one brown wire labeled ''pulse signal generation'' but a quick call to tech confirmed it was not needed in my application, would buy this harness again.
Pros: Straight Forward, Color to Color, Plug and Play
You'll need prior experience (or research and a lot of courage) in installing car radios when using this interface wiring kit. The instructions can be better. I'm not a professional installer but I've replaced factory radios in two of my previous cars. I also did a lot of reading about other peoples experience before i started. Anyways, I used cap connectors (as suggested by professionals) and it made connecting wires a cinch. Regarding the instructions, first the manufacturer could have suggested the use of these cap connectors (for example) and perhaps even tips on make a loom to avoid wire tangling during the insertion of the radio back into its slot. Separate sheets could be included for specific vehicles that cites which wire may not be needed. I had to call Crutchfield to confirm that at least two wires are not necessary for my radio. Also, this will not allow you to use ALL the steering wheel functions (as indicated on the Crutchfield website). And, the USB (& Aux) ports on the dash, if you have it. Push-to-talk, phone on/off hook will not function with the SWC interface.
Pros: Adequate to work with Pioneer AVIC-7000 NEX on a 2012 Toyota Tundra SR5, non-JBL, non-Nav. The SWC connector makes the MODE, Volume +/- and Presets < / > on the steering wheel.
Cons: Does not have provisions for the USB/AUX (on the dash) for my vehicle. The SWC connector does not provide for push-to-talk, phone on/off hook buttons on the steering wheel.
It did not retain the ability to scroll through my presets on the pioneer I installed.
Pros: Volume works
Cons: It doesn't scroll through the presets. This is a major con for me.
It's overall a great addition to my stereo. It's still great to be able to utilize the steering wheel controls
Pros: Gps and Bluetooth works very well with my iPhone 5s. Easy to install.
Cons: The only problem I really have is that the steering wheel controls do not scroll through the preset stations on the radio... It just goes through every station available....
This kit made installing the new head unit in my vehicle SO much easier I couldn't imagine installing it without them. Another great thing is that the steering wheel controls now work fully; with the stock head unit the only control available via the steering wheel was the volume. This is an essential kit for the DIY installer.
Pros: Retains steering wheel control with a new head unit; easy-to-install
Everything supplied worked as it was intended. Steering wheel function works as if it was factory stereo.
Pros: Direct connect to vehicle, prefect function
Cons: Wire colors at vehicle connector did not match vehicle wire colors
Made installation easy
Pros: ease of use
Wire colors matched except Brown for dimmer, not needed
Pros: Excellent choice compared to the $100 one that has connector on both ends
Cons: Rear Speakers do not work only door speakers. I think its related to the Kenwood I installed and Ohms.
I thought it was really easy to install. Thanks to Crutchfield, it was all set up really nice and was set for installation. The directions that came with it were exact to the hardware that was in my truck. Crutchfield is now my #1 audio provider.
I bought this connector to attach my Pioneer AVH-X5600BHS to my 2011 Toyota Camry. At first it looks like this will never connect, and there are too many wires. If you just follow the wiring diagram, and connect each wire one at a time, you will do just fine. On a side note, make sure you use the remote antenna connector not the remote amp power connector, or you will get crappy FM/AM reception. Toyota needs power to the antenna, so use the proper connection! Being able to keep my steering wheel controls is a huge plus as well. Other than my own stupidity, this is a perfect kit.
Pros: Ease of connections, and plug and play between the factory wiring and the new head-unit.
Cons: The documentation could be better laid out, but if you look at it one wire at a time, it's easy.
Great product, it just works and can be used with several manufacturers products. No fiddling, just set it, connect it and it works.
Using the Crux SWRTY-61S Wiring Interface to connect the Clarion NX604 into my FJ was straight forward. The instructions were easy to follow allowing minimal time to wire it into the Clarion NX604 harness and connect everything into my FJ. I recommend the Posi-ProductsT Car Stereo Connectors to make sure your connections are solid.
Pros: Easy to follow instructions and low cost.
I used this kit to install a Clarion NX 404 into my 2010 Camry. The install was very simple, just connect the matching colors. It worked the first time, including the steering wheel controls.
Very easy to connect to the other wires. Instructions clear how to use.
Pros: Glad to use my steering wheel controls. Small enough to fit without trouble.
Came in the kit.
Pros: Great price
Great wiring harness, was very easy and straightforward to install. Steering wheel controls still work just the same.
Great product, makes the entire installation process sweet!
Pros: For the most part instructions were clear.
Cons: Little trouble with the steering wheel control instruction
Does everything you need in one harness, easy to install. Cheaper than some standalone kits for steering wheel controls and this does everything.
Works perfect. Cut and dry install. I installed this in my 05 tacoma. If you have problems with installing this you shouldn't even be installing a radio in your car lol. All and all it does it's job.
Pros: Everything labeled and simple to install.
I am glad to have my steering wheel controls back. I lost the controls when I put a Sony deck in and decide against the steering wheel control cable. I didn't realize how much I missed the controls until I just it them back again after having a Kenwood installed in my 2006 Tacoma with this cable. It all works.
Pros: Functions properly in a 2006 Tacoma.
Unable to cycle through presets using steering wheel controls. The steering wheel Volume and Mode buttons were retained...however the buttons that used to cycle through the presets now just Seek up and down. I installed this in a 2008 Toyota Sienna with a Kenwood DDX492 head unit.
Pros: Simple installation.
Cons: Did not retain all factory steering wheel controls...only some.
Pros: Kept all steering wheel controls
Cons: The auto control on the drivers side power window stopped working.
This is a great harness. Matched up to the vehicle with no issues. All wiring instructions were easy to follow
Pros: Easy to use.
It's did the job but didn't come with any way to connect the wires to the radio. It worked great once I supplied those. I was expecting for some reason, that all I needed to do the job would be included but that's fairly minor for me since I have plenty of those sorts of things around.
Pros: works great, easy to set up and wire
Cons: didn't come with any kind of connector for the wires to connect to the radio.
I have wired up about 15-20 car stereos since my 1st car in 1992. This is a great harness, steering wheel controls worked with out any extra effort. What a relief to wire it up then plug and play.
Pros: Integrates steering wheels controls, and can be used with different brands of car stereos.
This adapter works well. At first it would not work as it was supposed to, directions were not great. Had to call Crutchfield customer service. At first wouldn't work, then after talking with the super nice rep got it all situated. She actually came in to work on a day off to help customers. Does not support answer/hangup function, or voice dialing through the steering wheel. Pretty sure that is with any HU as that interface is not simple like volume/source controls. Everything else works great. Also this unit retains the factory usb/aux output. You will lose the control of the device through the HU as it is only an rca audio output to the HU, but it will still function and play. Would have to chose songs on an idevice instead of scrolling through on the head unit. Directions for wiring was simple.
Pros: Works as expected, minus the call answer feature. Super friendly customer service from Crutchfield.
Cons: Directions not absolutely clear, there are two square plugs in the harness and it doesn't list which one needs to be plugged into the module itself. Apparently one is for programming. You have to use the plug with the blue wire.
This was the easiest install of any unit I have ever put in. Everything fit perfectly and works great.
Pros: No quests work was involved. The fit was perfect.
This wiring harness was a god send when I upgraded the stock stereo in our 2011 Toyota Camry to a new Kenwood double DIN receiver. Once installed, most all the original steering wheel controls worked perfected with my new head unit. The only reason I'm dinging the part one star is for the installation instructions, that although well written (for the most part), were on instruction short of being complete). The final wire/mini harness required was not detailed in the install instructions, leaving me a non-working setup. One call to Crutchfield support, and maybe five minutes on the phone, completed the install process (one wire connection and a plug in), and everything worked perfectly. If Crux would add one line to their installation instructions to cover this oversight on their part, this would be a five star review. If you're upgrading your head unit, and have stock steering wheel controls, get and install this harness as is simplifies the install process and allows you to keep your steering wheel controls.
Pros: Simplifies the installation of a new head unit and when installed, allows you to keep your steering wheel controls for a truly factory like install.
Cons: Instructions are not quite complete as currently written.
Easy to use and setup
Great part! Extremely convenient to use when i installed it into a 2007 Toyota Sienna. It kept the Factory AUX which was great. Steering wheel controls work seamlessly. Would refer to others.
Pros: Keeps factory AUX keeping the install look OEM. Plug and play to the factory system once you wire it up to the new headunit.
Works well with HU, I can't imagine not having operational control of the steering wheel controls. Perfect match color-to-color wire install. Great product; I definitely recommend this item to all.
Pros: Easy install, works as advertised!
Works perfectly on 2006 Tacoma with JVC. Never picked up instructions, just soldered color to color and works great. Have steering wheel control and all buttons work perfect. Ok I did pick up instructions once to set dip switches to match stereo brand for steering wheel control.
Pros: Works! Easy!
Called Crutchfield to get advice on which steering wheel control module I should get. The advisor did a search and came across this wiring harness with the SWC module integrated into the harness. On top of that it was on special! I bought it. To be clear, I did not install it myself. I got the InstallCard (great if you do not have time to install yourself or you are not brave enough to install on your own) and the installer did not have a hard time with this at all, even though this was his first time using this particular harness. It's a bit pricier, but seems to be easier to use than other SWC modules.
Pros: Seems easier to work with Installer did not charge me extra to install like with other SWC modules
Cons: Pricier by about $10-$20.
This was remarkably simple to install, with almost no setup required. The one issue I have is that the combination of this wiring harness and the radio I have (Kenwood BT318U) means the steering wheel controls don't go from preset radio station to preset radio station, but instead tune the radio directly. It's possible I'll be able to find a way around that, and it's more nuisance than problem, really. Everything else worked perfectly.
Item worked perfectly. Everything worked even the steering wheel controls.
Pros: Easy to use.
Radio Replacement Interface for Toyota: The CRUX SWRTY-61S is a radio replacement interface for select 2003-2011 Toyota vehicles. It facilitates the integration of select aftermarket radios to enable retention of certain factory features when replacing a factory-installed radio. This enhanced interface retains the factory aux input and is also pre-programmed for retention of steering wheel controls.
Note: This CRUX adapter will only retain steering wheel audio controls with car stereos made by Pioneer, Sony, Jensen, Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood, JVC, and Blaupunkt.
Vehicle Compatibility: The CRUX SWRTY-61S is supported by the following Toyota vehicles; with non-amplified factory audio systems (as of 10/8/2014).
|Tundra||2003-2013 (2013 early production)|
Note: Does not support vehicles with factory JBL amplifier audio systems.
Supported Aftermarket Head Units: The CRUX SWRTY-61S radio replacement interface will only retain steering wheel audio controls with car stereos made by Pioneer, Sony, Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood, JVC, and Blaupunkt.
Steering Wheel Control Compatible: The CRUX SWRTY-61S features a steering wheel control output for compatible aftermarket head units. The steering wheel control output consists of a right-angle 3.5mm connector and a light blue/yellow wire (use the connection that your aftermarket head unit is fitted with). The SWRTY-61S interface module will work with any of the listed aftermarket head units, by setting its three dip-switches (see owner's manual for appropriate setting).
Note: The steering wheel control interface features two 4-pin connectors (labeled - "Pioneer/Sony" and "Alpine/Clarion/Kenwood/JVC"). You will only plug in one of these connectors to the interface module, based on the type aftermarket head unit you are installing.
Auxiliary Input Retention: For select 2007 up vehicles, you get to keep the factory auxiliary (3.5mm) input. The included harness contains male stereo RCA connectors which plug into your aftermarket head unit's rear-panel Aux input. If your aftermarket head unit contains a 3.5mm Aux input, then you will need a female stereo RCA to male stereo minijack adapter cable (sold separately).
Wiring Harness: The included harness features the following wires which will need to be hardwired (solder or crimped) to your aftermarket head unit's wiring harness.
