More details on the Crux RVCVW-73L
Sightline Series rearview Camera System: The Sightline series RVCVW-73L rearview camera system by Crux has been specifically designed for select Volkswagen vehicles that are equipped with a factory MFD3/RNS-315 factory navigation radio. Now you can use your vehicle's factory radio to see what's behind you when backing up. The RVCVW-73 comes with an interface module and the necessary harnesses and cables to connect the rearview camera to your VW vehicle's factory system.
Note: This rearview camera kit is meant as a back-up aid only; never solely rely on the rearview camera when backing-up. In addition to using the rearview camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.
Vehicle Compatibility: The Sightline series RVCVW-73L rearview camera system is compatible with 2012-2015 Volkswagen Beetles that feature a factory MFD3/RNS-315 navigation radio (as of 1/23/18).
Rearview Camera: The included rearview camera features a 656x492 image sensor with a minimum illumination of 0.2 lux and a 170° wide-angle lens. The camera mounts in the factory light location over your license plate. It even features its own integrated LED bulb for the license plate. The rearview camera features a waterproof housing to protect it against the elements.
Park Assist Lines: The rearview camera provides parking assist lines on the screen of your vehicle's in-dash factory radio. These parking lines are there to assist you when backing up into a parking space. There are two vertical lines which help you judge the left and right edges of the parking space and your vehicle. There are also 3 color-coded horizontal lines that are used to distinguish how close you are getting to the end of the parking spot - Yellow (Clear), Purple (Getting Close), Red (Very Close).
Note: By default the parking assist lines are "On". To turn the parking assist lines "Off", connect the two small, thin white wires within the cable that is attached to the camera.
Automatic Rearview Switching: In order for the vehicle's system to recognize the installed rearview interface module and backup camera and engage them when the vehicle is in reverse, your vehicle's system must be coded using the supplied OBD module and harness. The OBD module and harness can be removed once coding processing is done. Now the factory radio's monitor will automatically switch over to the rearview camera so you can see what's behind you immediately.
Power Down Circuit: The included power down circuit is designed to extend the life of the camera. The power down circuit includes a +12V Constant Power wire (yellow), +12V Accessory Wire (red), Reverse wire (green), and Ground wire (black). See Installation Instructions on how to hardwire these connections.
Wiring Connections: The rearview camera features an attached 2' power/signal cable and a 20' extension cable that plug into each other. The extension cable is routed through the vehicle and plugs into the included 2' interface harness which then plugs into the interface module and factory radio connector behind the radio. The power down circuit installs between the vehicle's reverse light and the rearview camera.
Tech Tip: If asked for a "Code" on the radio display after you have connected the interface and powered On the car, do not enter a code; simply wait 10 seconds then turn Off the vehicle. Normal operation should resume after.
