About the Pro-Ject X1

A high-quality turntable...

In my experience, any Pro-Ject turntable will offer solid build quality and attention to detail. The Pro-Ject X1 follows that trend, with a heavy 12" acrylic platter that reduces resonance and noise, a carbon fiber/aluminum tonearm for superior rigidity, and a rugged MDF base with four adjustable aluminum feet. The motor is decoupled from the chassis for reduced vibration transmission, and a stainless steel bearing with soft brass bushing and Teflon mirrors keeps the platter's rotation smooth and quiet.

The cherry on top of the proverbial sundae is a factory-mounted Sumiko Olympia moving magnet cartridge. The Rainier features an elliptical diamond stylus that tracks a record groove with precision. Solid frequency response in the 12-30,000 Hz range ensures that you can hear exquisite detail in your favorite recordings.

Features

Electronic Speed Control: A push-button on top of the turntable allows you to easily change speeds with the push of only a single button. Besides being able to effortlessly change replay speeds with the push of a button, the playback speed is electronically controlled with the utmost precision, which results in the most accurate and stable speed. The X1 supports 33-1/3, 45, and 78 rpm speeds.

Note: To playback 78 rpm records, you'll need to us the included round belt (instead of the flat belt). You'll also need to change out the pre-installed cartridge for a 78 rpm compatible cartidge.

Carfully Isolated Motor: The Pro-Ject X1 employs a sophisticated DC/AC generator board which, combined with the convenient speed control board, delivers clean and stable power to the quiet-running motor. For even further improved performance, the motor is decoupled from the main plinth using a new motor suspension system.

Smooth Rotation: In the X1, the motor drives a heavy, non-resonant Acryl platter via a sub-platter drive system and a premium grade main bearing for smooth rotation. The s tainless steel platter-bearing with soft brass bushing and teflon mirrors offers the lowest rumble and noise, and a stable, accurate speed transmission.

Carbon/Aluminum Sandwich Tonearm with Adjustments: The Pro-Ject X1 features a superstiff, perfectly damped Carbon/Aluminum sandwich construction tonearm. This new 8.6" tonearm design is incredibly light and stiff, with improved resistance to external interference. Finished as a one-piece, with no resonance-inducing headshell, the X1 can also be set for azimuth and VTA adjustment. The tonearm is then supplied with a TPE-damped counterweight, further reducing cartridge-tonearm resonances.

Olympia MM Cartridge: The Pro-Ject X1 comes with a pre-installed Olympia MM (Moving-Magnet) cartridge that implements an upgraded cantilever assembly for reduced moving mass, resluting in more nimble groove tracing, extended nuance, and expanded frequency response. Its quiet design produces very little noise, improving imaging and soundstage.

Gold-Plated RCA Outputs: The Pro-Ject X1 is outfitted with a set of gold-plate stereo RCA outputs that provide excellent audio signal transfer and resistance against corrosion. A high-quality stereo RCA cable is included. Pro-Ject's Connect-it-E cable is a semi-balanced, low-capacitance cable, with superior shielding. However, you can always upgrade to an even high quality cable if preffered.

Damped & Height Adjustable Feet: The X1 stands on three height adjustable damped Aluminum/TPE feet to make sure its level and stable, because a perfectly level turntable is essential for real high-end sound. These three height adjustable heavy-duty Aluminum TPE feet effectively isolate the turntable from the mounting surface and ensure level positioning on practically any surface.

Dust Cover: The Pro-Ject X1 comes supplied with a clear acrylic dust cover to prevent dust build-up on the turntable.

AC Power Adapter: The turntable operates off of standard household current using the supplied external AC power adapter.

  • Input: 100-240V~50/60Hz, 0.6A
  • Output: 15V - 800mA

MDF Plinth with Hand Painted or Real Wood Finishes: The Pro-Ject X1's resonance-reducing, heavy-duty MDF plinth is available in a High-Gloss Black or White finish, plus a Walnut veneer.

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

Q
I am completely new to the turntable and Hi-Fi scene and am looking for a little advice. I currently plan to get a Pro-ject X1 and a Cambridge Audio CXA61 amp. I'm a little stuck on deciding what bookshelf speakers (I have a smaller space) to get. Looking at anywhere between $1k and $1.5k. Any recommendations?

I'm always so happy to hear when folks are taking the vinyl plunge, I'm surely addicted! The Pro-ject X1 and Cambridge CXA61. You'll need a good phono pre-amp as the Cambridge only has line input. The Pro-Ject Phono box s2 I've put a link below for is a sure winner. These Wharfedale EVO4.2's in the link below are a true 3 way speaker, and have excellent playback for vinyl. I would also consider speakers like this Monitor Audio Silver 100 7G, if you prefer a little more low bass! Both would crush in your setup, no matter what tunes you prefer! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_252PHBS2B/Pro-Ject-Phono-Box-S2.html?tp=48772 https://www.crutchfield.com/p_336EVO42WN/Wharfedale-EVO4-2-Walnut.html?tp=186 https://www.crutchfield.com/p_893S1007BG/Monitor-Audio-Silver-100-7G-High-Gloss-Black.html?tp=186
