Not the one
Luis from LOS ANGELES, CA on 3/28/2022
Bought this as a way to upgrade from a Victrola I received as a gift. While the T1 definitely had much better isolation and looked much sleeker, the sound from this cartridge left MUCH to be desired, and at this price, was incredibly disappointing. It's also not made to be upgraded as the tonearm cannot be balanced fully-confused as to why Pro-Ject put all their chips behind this cartridge. I exchanged this for an Audio Technica LPW40WN - $100 cheaper, better cartridge, better tonearm. If you choose to go for a Pro-Ject turntable, go with the glossy, as the matte white finish looked like something IKEA rejected for looking too cheap.
Pros: Lovely glass platter Super minimalist Only 3 feet Good phono preamp
Cons: Weak soundstage Poor cartridge Uninspiring plinth Wobbly dustcover High wow/flutter for price range

Competent performer
Michael from Saint Paris, OH on 2/25/2022
Bought it for my daughter. It seems to be just what she wanted. It sounds good, but I like the "fit and feel" of my Rega better. I paid about the same for both of them.
Pros: Looks and sounds good.
Cons: The tone arm slips off your finger easily and goes skidding across the record label.

Don from ROCKFORD on 1/21/2022
I boutght this turntable here after reading all the good reviews. Was I ever WRONG. This is a piece of garbage. Example. The anti-skid device is a cheap piece of metal and...ready......fish line!! What a joke. Worst purchase of my life!
Pros: None
Cons: Poor poor quality.

Minimalist
Crutchfield customer from San Diego, CA on 1/2/2022
I expected standard features to be part of it. I didn't know there are new record players on the market that don't have features, such as auto-stop. Since this is standard since records were modern technology. The sound quality is good and setup is easy.
Pros: Good sound
Cons: No standard features such as auto stop

Customer for life
Crutchfield customer from Little Elm, TX on 11/27/2021
Thought long and hard before purchasing and saved for just as long for the Pro-Ject T1 Phono SB and it was worth the wait and the money. Connectivity was simple and straightforward, the sound quality is exceptional, and the look is clean and elegant. PS: Originally contacted Crutchfield about this item which I had purchased from a different vendor; it was of no importance to the customer service rep that I had not purchased the turntable from Crutchfield; after walking me through several problem-solving steps (without hesitation = not reading from a script), we determined the item was defective. Returned the item to the other vendor and Crutchfield matched the price and 2 days later my turntable arrived in TX. Crutchfield now has a customer for life for three reasons: excellent selection, competitive prices, excellence in customer service.

After extensive research it is as advertised. Easy set-up. I connected through my receiver phono stage and sound is superb, makes my 45-50 year old vinyl sound clean again. The Walnut base is great looking too, my wife even liked the look. Can't wait to cycle through my collection.
Pros: Set-up. Sound. Appearance.
Cons: On my minor con is the manual process, but worth it.

Great option based on the price. Easy assembly, love the manual tonearm with the counterweight (for me, fewer automatic parts the better) and the glass platter is more than I expected. Good preamp... I would recommend the Pro-Ject T1 to anyone looking for a turntable under $500.

Pro-Ject T1 Phono SB
Crutchfield customer from Loveland, OH on 3/21/2021
First and foremost, Crutchfield has been wonderful. I had read a few earlier reviews that commented on how light this turntable it and thought very little of it, but it is a serious issue. The TT is so light that simply opening up the dust cover often resulted in the tonearm skipping over the centerpiece of the record, which cannot be good for the stylus. Although the TT is about as close to plug-and-play as possible, it would seem that adjusted the counterweight would be a serious undertaking, as there is no adjustable dial but instead one would loosen the counterweight with an Allen wrench (supplied) and then make an adjustment. This may not be much of an issue unless one would upgrade the cartridge, but I didn't like that I couldn't adjust the counterweight easily. In the end, I returned the turntable because it didn't quite live up to my possibly unrealistic expectations (I replaced my 38 year old TT that had an extremely expensive cartridge). Because of those issues, I returned the turntable. Crutchfield was fantastic during the experience, and I would recommend them to anyone.

Hot Mess
Andrew from Lowell, MA on 1/22/2021
The construction quality is rather poor for this price point. The cover hinges are ill-fitted and wobbly. The Tone arm support is loose. The lack of rubber feet for the cover is surprising. The motor appears to be under-powered, as it struggles to slowly attain proper speed - which does not inspire confidence. I was also rather shocked at Crutchfield's lack of quality control in making sure cover and parts were clean and presentable. Generally, the experience was not at as refined as one would expect of equipment at this price. On the other hand, the sound quality is good, thanks to the Ortofon cartridge and decent built-in preamp. I wish I had my Teac back, for half the price...
Pros: Sound quality.
Cons: Overall fit and finish.

Fantastic turntable at the price.
Crutchfield customer from Woodbridge, VA on 11/17/2020
The sound that comes out of this turntable is really great - very crisp with all the music nuances picked up by the Ortofon cartridge. I was really surprised at how light the unit is, but it isn't affected by vibration and produces no hum. I have a Pioneer 990 that I have owned for years and have been satisfied with the performance, but this turntable is at another level. Highly recommend; especially with the price.
Pros: Great sound, light weight, easy set up, convenient and easy on/off and speed adjustment controls
Cons: Very early in ownership, but not seeing any cons so far.

Great turntable for re-entry into vinyl
Lalo from New York, NY on 6/11/2020
I love this turntable and it is truly a joy to listen to my old records, which still sound terrific. If it gets four stars instead of five it's because the deck could use a bit more heft. It's light, so light that it sometimes moves if I'm not careful when turning it on or off. It doesn't affect play, but a a heavier plinth would make it feel more secure.
Pros: Old records sound marvelous. An absolute joy to play them. Not terribly expensive.
Cons: The deck is a bit light - could use more heft.

I can't imagine finding a better turntable for the money. It's solidly built. It has a built in preamp that you can use or bypass in favor of your integrated amp with the flip of a switch. The tonearm lifter is accurate...straight up, straight down. The Ortofon cartridge comes installed and set up properly. On top of that, it looks sleek. A+++
