The EVO is Etymotic Research's first triple balanced armature in-ear monitors, and it's a show of Etymotic's engineering prowess.

Triple balanced armature drivers in a special shell

The triple balanced armature drivers inside each earbud are custom joined by Etymotic's engineers. The drivers are connected to a two-way crossover for better instrument separation and soundstaging. The armatures are housed in a special acoustic module, made specifically to enhance their sound. The outer housing is built using a metal injection molding process, creating a lightweight-but-rigid enclosure with aesthetically pleasing curves.

High-end Estron Linum cable

Etymotic Research designed the EVO with the complementing high-end Estron cable in mind. The premium Estron Linum BaX T2 Cable features 84 strands of silver-plated copper wires that have been double twisted for added durability and signal transfer. The cable goes over your ears for a secure, comfortable fit. It's super-lightweight and thin, with remarkably low microphonics (transfer of sound to the headphones via the cable).

Features

Overview: The Evo in-ear headphones (#ER-Multi3) is the first multi-driver earphone from Etymotic. It features a metal injection-molded body that is contoured to comfortably fit into your ear. Evo comes with a high-end cable for better performance, multiple pairs of silicone and foam ear tips, a cloth bag, and an aluminum case.

Driver Description: The Evo is equipped with three balanced-armature drivers for maximum accuracy and a wide sound stage. It consists of two balanced-armature low frequency drivers, and a single balanced-armature driver to handle the midrange and high frequencies. The drivers are configured into a 2-way design with a crossover to produce a wide frequency response. The drivers and crossover are custom mounted into a specially engineered acoustic module that delivers the true Etymotic sound signature.

Ear Bud Housing: Many high-end in-ear headphones feature housings machined from solid aluminum. The Evo earphones go in a different direction with a molded metal body. Metal powder is mixed with resin and poured into a mold, where it is heated and pressurized into a precision enclosure. After studying the shape of the ears, Etymotic engineers came up with a body design that fits comfortably into the ear's concha bowl. This design fits most users, and can be worn for hours without fatigue.

Filters: Included with the Evo are green plastic acoustic filters that fit inside the ear bud's nozzle. The filters serve two purposes--to tune the sound and to protect the drivers. The green filters deliver an accurate but neutral sound, while preventing ear wax and other debris from entering the ear bud through the nozzle. When one of the earphones start to sound muffled, the filter can be replaced using the included filter removal tool.

Ear Tips: The Evo includes seven pairs of ear tips: 4 pairs of 2-flange silicone ear tips (S, M, L, XL), 2 pairs of 3-flange silicone ear tips (L, XL), and one pair of foam ear tips.

Cable: The Evo in-ear headphones come with the 50" high-end Estron Linum BaX T2™ cable with a right-angled gold-plated 3.5mm plug. The detachable cable is extremely lightweight with durable metal connectors that won't accidentally disconnect from the ear bud. It's thin design reduces microphonics that cause distortion due to contact with other materials.

Specifications:

  • Frequency Response: 20 Hz to 16 kHz
  • Impedance: 47Ω
  • Sensitivity: 99dB SPL (1 kHz at 0.1V)
  • Ear Bud Dimensions: Width 0.635", Height 0.884", Depth 0.983"
