All troubleshooting (especially wiring) should always be done with the battery disconnected. We would need to know the exact year of your Ford Fusion hybrid, Tim. Some times with newer factory amplified radios you will need to add a load generator to make sure the factory radio will still output sound. If you do not need a load resistor, you can simply add an aftermarket amp with speaker-level inputs. The Bose package in the 1989 Vette was very interesting, John. The factory system uses amplified speakers that only work with the Bose radio. If you replace one of the factory speakers, you'll have to replace the entire system. If you are replacing the radio, it's best to run fresh speaker wire to the speaker locations and replace all four factory speakers with new aftermarket. This original system cannot be retained when changing the radio, with any aftermarket radio. We do show that Boss unit fitting but that is based on the chassis fitting in the opening. The floating screen measures 9.245" (w) x 5.895 " (h) x 1.855" (d) so you may want to take some measurements beforehand to make sure it would not hit up against the shift. I own a 2004 GMC Sierra and am not familiar with your vehicle; however, in running wiring, you should not run your power wire for your amp next to your speaker wiring. The size of your amp determines the size of your power wiring from your battery (usually specified by your power amp manufacturer). You can run a 14 - 16 gauge wire from your head unit's (which usually has a remote wire (blue) that controls when your amp turns on and off. Sometimes (as in mine), there are two blue wires (one might be blue/white) that controls either a power antenna and/or your remote amp). In my GMC Sierra, I ran the remote and power wires on the driver's side floor rail via the left kick panel and the speaker wiring on the passenger's side kick panel and floor rail. My rear side speakers are small 4x6 speakers so I opted to add two 6x9 inch JBL in their own enclosures under the seat along with a 10 inch Rockville self-contained speaker/amplifier unit. I added a 12 vdc relay so I could switch between the 4x6 and 6x9's for the rear sound. In addition, some amplifier units have a wired remote knob that you can place somewhere on your dash. I ran this wire on the driver's side; you can boost or cut the volume of your sub-woofer this way. Of course, I ran all wiring in wire looms. A central ground for your amp is critical and it must match the power of your amp. Be sure to clean the area where the grounding lug will contact sheet metal. Manufacturer's of amps usually recommend a vehicle grounding bolt (or a substantial bolt already on your vehicle making sure your lug contacts bare sheet metal). Over heating can result if you don't have a good ground. In addition, try to keep the ground within 3 to 4 feet of your amp. Some bolts require large lugs....I found mine at a boating supply store in town. They do sell wiring kits for amp/speaker installations on-line; just make sure they're high quality pure copper. Hope this helps a little.

I have an Alpine CDM 9821 installed in a Dodge RAM 3500 van with infinity speakers. I am replacing it with a new Alpine CDE 172 BT from Crutchfield. I am trying to figure out how to get the installed radio out. I have removed the plastic protection collar but the radio unit is not coming out of the metal bracket. I have the tab tools that came with CDE 172BT but cannot see how they work with the installed radio. There are two spring clips on the front of the radio body, one on either side that hold it in and I have released those and the radio moves a little but something is still holding it in the bracket. Can anyone suggest how to get the installed radio out?

Hi Robert, thank you for your question. The reason you see multiple speaker sizes listed is because we have found that you can use multiple speaker sizes with the use of an adapter bracket. If the adapter brackets are necessary for your install location, and brackets are available for your vehicle, we will send those brackets to you free of charge with the purchase of the speakers. There are a few other vehicle qualifying questions we would need to ask in order to confirm we have the correct vehicle information pulled up for your Camaro. I have a 2012 Avalon, and I'd have a hard time believing electronics were more complex 5 years previous for a 2007 model car. Crutchfileld had a guide for my car that was very helpful - a guide specific to my car. They're inexpensive guides too. Yes you can upgrade, just a matter of how difficult it is. I would buy Crutchfield's guide specific to your car, and if for some reason that is not enough, talk to a Honda dealer for directions on how to take parts of the car apart to get at your amplifier. Possibly better yet, you might not need to access the old amp. Just bypass it and rewire the new amp in. My old amp for the stock stereo is still mounted in the car and my new audio system isn't affected at all. Dan

It will automatically bring up the reverse camera if you wire it correctly. There is a wire on both the unit and the camera which must get 12V when you place the car in reverse - I connected both to the back up lights. You can use (and even add) steering wheel functions with the idatalink device. The device must be configured online (this is relatively easy) through the idatalink website. You can add features because the device allows two functions to be mapped to any button - one for a momentary press and a 2nd function for a press and hold.

The best spot will always be on the roof, but not wanting to do that I mounted it on the dash as close to the windshield as possible. It comes with a metal plate that sticks down and you mount the antenna too. Has worked fine so far.

It can work on the dashboard but you will find the signal drops much more often as the roof of your vehicle blocks the signal in certain directions. I do not believe so...most factory stereos from that era do not have an exterior aux outlet, but you are probably considering the option of rigging something routed under the dash to plug into a possible connection on the rear of the enclosed box. It is not common for any such factory install to include an option for this. That is, don't expect to spend time and effort to dig under the dash to find a hidden aux port built in to the back of the audio unit. I have a Mazda 626 from 2001 and had no luck with this. (This car is essentially a Ford Contour, with a Mazda nameplate...albeit not a Tauraus, but very similar to it). M. Goodwin

Here is the information we have for your vehicle. The rear side panel must be removed to access the subwoofer location. Extensive disassembly is required. Drill new screw holes to mount aftermarket subwoofer. Factory subwoofer has dual 2-ohm voice coils. The listed depth is 3.355". Hope this helps.

This mastersheet doesn't come with wiring instructions. It's just a step by step on taking the dash apart. The wiring instructions will always come with the radio itself.

Hi Jessica. Wire diagrams are not included in the mastersheet. It mostly helped to understand how to take off the panels, head unit, and the back seat. You should be able to purchase the wiring harnesses from Crutchfield to make the connections, otherwise you'll have to shop around for the wiring diagrams.
