I purchased these in December 2019 and had mixed feelings initially but their sound quality has been improving significantly over time. I broke them in very slowly by listening at low to medium sound levels for the first 3 months. After then playing them loud, they started to produce a weightier sound and more open soundstage. Now, this is what I as expecting! It might seem obvious to most but they do benefit greatly with the use of quality components and interconnects. I mostly listen to high resolution music files (AIFF, 96kHz or 192 kHz, 24 bit) purchased from HD tracks using the TEAC HR Audio Player software. System stack is MacBook Pro, Synergistic Research Atmosphere X USB type C to B cable, TEAC NT-505 DAC/pre-amplifier, AudioQuest Earth XLR cables, ParaSound Halo A21+ amplifier, Blue Jeans Cable Belden 5T00UP 10 AWG speaker cables, and F228Be's. The SR USB cable made a huge difference which I was not expecting. I first noticed the sound quality improvement that an audiophile USB cable could make in my system with the AudioQuest Carbon cable which is a great cable for the money. I also tried the AudioQuest Diamond which was 4 times the price of the Carbon but not significantly better. The SR cable was basically the same price as the Diamond but sounded a LOT better. My wife also agreed. Next steps are to add a power conditioner and replace the power cables for the DAC and amplifier, the duplex wall outlet, and the speaker cables with Synergistic Research products.
Pros: Ease of placement Beautiful cabinets (walnut) Rounded floor spikes
Cons: Long break in period Require quality components and interconnects to reach potential Adjusting/leveling floor spike heights

This is a terrific speaker and a notable step forward from the (excellent) F208 and 206 speakers in this line. As with all Revel speakers, the highs and midrange are crystal clear, and that clarity extends here to the mid bass, which is very clear. The soundstage is large and enveloping but also accurate, with voices and instruments appearing where they should. Dynamic range is also excellent. When I first purchased these, I considered pairing them with subwoofer to add some force to the low end. Four months later, I am happy that I have not. Maybe I have adjusted, but do not feel the need to add more bass. I upgraded to these speakers from Revel's F206 speakers and also auditioned (more expensive speakers) from Martin Logan and B&W. I am very happy with my purchase. Mine are paired with a McIntosh C49 preamp (also from Crutchfield) and MC462 amplifier playing mostly hi-res digital music stored on an MacMini using Roon. Highly recommended.
