Amazing speaker. One of the best purchases of my life. Queen's "Somebody to Love" on these speakers, in a decent room with decent positioning..UNREAL. That sound could motivate a man to take on an army. My Klipsch RP-450M speakers are good speakers, but in comparison to the Revels, they lack that something "special" extra that the Revels have. While there are a (very) few recordings or songs I like a bit better on the Klipsch, for the vast majority of content, I prefer the Revels. I know - not a fair comparison given the price difference, but I figure the Klipsch is common enough that a comparison would be helpful (see pros/cons). It is also worth noting that the Klipsch have a narrow "sweet spot". Set up the speakers in a room, and anyone can notice the difference in sound if you walk 4 feet to the right of the right speaker - the sound changes quite a bit for the Klipsch. Not so for the Revel, which doesn't change much.
Pros: - Nothing I've heard quite makes Freddy and the boys come alive quite like this - Wide dispersion - Don't require tons of power (I've been able to use a 50W amp without issue) - Rock solid enclosure
Cons: - Expensive - Not as dynamic as a horn speaker such as the Klipsch RP-450M - Certain lower frequencies sound better on the Klipsch versus the Revel (silly example, but the scene from the movie "Legend" (1985) where darkness laughs, is much more impactful on the Klipschs, despite the smaller woofer on the Klipsch)

Clear and exact. Sound stage is very wide--sound everywhere. If you listen to jazz, strings, acoustic guitar or classical this is a great speaker by itself. If you like rock plan to add a sub as it will fill out the low end. Great sound. I debated spending the money--glad I did!

Cons: Not really a con, but out of space. Limited base, but that is to be expected. Plan to get a sub for 2 channel or home theater. Make sure the sub is as precise as these bookshelves!

They sound great but woofer went out on 1 of them right away. Hope this isn't a normal occurance. Crutchfield is processing a warranty exchange, great customer service.

These new Revels are simply incredible! The Revel f206 floorstanders were my all time favorite speakers and I blind tested them in my listening room against some excellent speakers. The 128bes are a big step up and I really think about as good as it gets. The floorstanding version (228BE) are 10 grand and I've heard are extremely close the top of the line Revels. Considering you are getting the exact same mids and highs with these that should tell you all you need to know. Using with a Musical Fidelity M6si and a Chord Qutest with a sub in a well treated room and I can't imagine a more enjoyable setup. Definitely give them a try!
