Just buy them

This is a ridiculously good outdoor speaker. Consider mounting them upside down if they will be above head height. Second pair. Replacing a supposedly high end brand. Even happier this time.
Pros: Excellent bass. Clean high end. Easy mounting.
Cons: I should have done this two years ago.

Revel M80XC vs. the Field
Richard from San Diego, CA on 3/20/2021
I was looking for the best outdoor speaker I could find. I needed speakers that fit on the roof line. I have a large and wide back yard on a canyon. We watch movies outside so the speakers needed to be able to handle eclectic music and movie soundtracks and voice. I was not interested in an in ground system. After researching as much as possible, I selected the Polk Audio Atrium 6 because the Atrium 4 were at the top of most lists. I also picked the Bose 251s, Martin Logan ML75AW, and Bowers & Wilkins AM-1. All have arrived except the Bose 251s. In order, the best is the Revels, followed by the Martin Logans, Bowers & Wilkins, and Atrium. The Revels handled all music, had great depth of sound, and all was clean, crisp, and the bass was amazing. Next was the Martin Logan. It was similar to the Revels but was not as versatile as the Revels. They seems more like indoor monitors with, playing exactly was was being sent to it but without any color. They just seemed dull next to the Revels. The Bowers & Wilkins were also quite good. See my review at Best Buy website. They are a smaller driver with a passive radiator. That radiator helped with the bass, but in the end, the sound was muddied by the bass and was not able to handle the higher volume as well as the Revel. The Atrium was a fine speaker. It was the most harsh of all and had limited bass. All are worthy, but I was looking for the best and the Revel was it.
Pros: Clean, crisp sound. Sounds great at all volumes.
Cons: Large Size, Mounting Post is short.

Good outdoor speaker

I've had lots of indoor speakers ranging from $500 to $7500, but only a few outdoor speakers to compare these to. The last outdoor set I had is the Definitive AW6500. I choose the Revel M80XC this time, because of the larger 8" woofer vs 6.5" to hopefully get more mid/low bass, but I would say that by themselves the ported Def Tech's had more overall low output. However the punchiness of the mid/drum bass from the Revel's is an improvement. In a moderate sized outdoor area (20 x 30') enclosed by a concrete wall, where I have these mounted, they perform very well. Plenty of volume when powered by the NAD D 3045. Clean, accurate full sound outside. Spaced at 20' apart they produce a wide soundstage, however it's too far apart to achieve a great stereo image from most of my patio - e.g. you can clearly hear left vs right depending on where you are relative to them. Also they are large - and feel rather light for a speaker of this size and cost - I feel that if the enclosure was more solid/denser it would help them hit mid/low bass notes with more accuracy. Finally I decided to cross them over at 40hz 24db high pass, and added a custom concrete subwoofer using a JL 10w6v3. Now with the added subwoofer these really shine as they dont struggle with the lows. If you can add a sub outdoor - do it! these will then impress you and anyone listening to them.
Pros: Plenty loud for a large outdoor area. Clean sound. Descent tight mid bass/drum notes. Installation kit and mount is top notch.
Cons: Enclosure feels light. low bass lacking.

Revel M80XC

This is an amazing outdoor speaker. I bought one pair because I felt that the Klipsh speakers I had did not have enough solid punch in the base enough high end. I subsequently bought five more pairs and believe this gives the best endorsement you could. Pros. Great high-end solid base very efficient. Cons.None that I can tell so far
