Olympus M. Zuiko ED 12-100mm f/4 IS PRO reviews
Love the lens. Great size. Great focal range. Great images. OIS is amazing. Bought to use with my OM-D E10 ii as a travel pair. Using it now at Yellow Mountain in China and it is working out extremely well.
Pros: Size and weight make it a great travel lens. OIS lets me shoot in lower light. Image quality is wonderful for such a focal. range.
Cons: A bit pricey, but I'd buy it again.

I bought the 12-40/f2.8 & 40-150/f2.8 for my Olympus EM1, then decided I needed the extra reach the 12-100/f4 gives. I would suggest you might forego the 12-40 & spend a little more to buy the 12-100 instead, unless you're positive you need the wider 2.8 f-stop. This is simply an outstanding lens, bright, super sharp w/ exceptional focus speed and range, highly versatile, w/ superb quality 'feel.' It uses a 72mm filter & may be just a bit hefty weight-wise, but that in no way detracts from all of its positives. I use it as my all-around everyday lens. I am very satisfied w/ its performance & highly recommend it! On a side note to Hawaii buyers: Crutchfield's free 3-day shipping through the USPS is no joke, w/ great packing, tracking, & on-time delivery!

This is a wonderful lens whose quality justifies its expense. It seems very sharp with excellent color at all focal lengths. On my EM-1, the image stabilization is so good that I have hand-held sharp photos at more than one second, as long as the subject itself is not moving. While the EM-1/12-100 combo is heavier than the EM-1/Olympus 12-40 f2.8 and EM-1/Panasonic 12-60 f2.8-4.0 combos that I was accustomed to carry on hikes, I find that I do not mind the weight of the 12-100, and I appreciate the extra reach of the 12-100 without having to change lenses, or even carry the longer focal length lens that I used to lug along. A focal length of 100 mm is not really long enough for bird photography, however. For around-town shooting, it is great to be able quickly to zoom in on people or events further down the street. Of my many Olympus primes and zooms, and some Panasonic zooms, I find this lens to be at least equal in quality, and the most versatile. I highly recommend this lens.

Nice all around lens

I've found this to be my most versatile Olympus lens when mated with my EM1. I have a dozen Olympus m43 lens (including several Pro models) so I have a valid base for comparison. For 95% of my shooting this lens now lets me leave all of those at home and just carry it and the body in a holster bag, great for travel and anytime changing lens presents a problem (or inconvenience). I've shot RAW, handheld in a variety of very low light situations, using maximum 1600 iso (and could have easily used 800 iso max) and gotten great, sharp pictures even at 100mm. Resolution and contrast are superb, indistinguishable from the primes. I am very, very pleased with this lens, it is as good as the reviews say that it is. I can't wait to pair it with the EM1 mark ii. I do not find the size/weight to be an issue.
Pros: Very versatile focal length range. Sharp, contrasty files. Solid: mechanically well constructed. Water resistance.
Cons: Expensive, but you do get what you pay for. None for me.

More details on the Olympus M. Zuiko ED 12-100mm f/4 IS PRO
Micro Four Thirds Mount: The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-100mm f4.0 IS PRO lens has a Micro Four Thirds mount, and is compatible with the Olympus PEN and OM-D interchangeable lens cameras.
Lens Construction: The 12-100mm f4.0 IS PRO lens delivers superior optical performance due to the multiple lens elements that make up its construction. There are 17 lens elements in 11 groups. The lens includes 1 DSA lens, 3 Aspherical lenses, 5 ED lenses, 2 Super HR lenses, and 1 HR lens. This combination provides superior resolution, sharpness, and suppresses aberrations. The lens also features Z Coating Nano lens coatings to eliminate lens flares and ghosting caused by in-frame light sources.
Weather-resistant: The M.Zuiko 12-100mm PRO lens features premium metal construction that is hermetically sealed in several locations to protect the inner workings from moisture and dust. The lens is not only splashproof and dustproof, but is freezeproof down to 14°F (-10°C) to complement the weatherproof camera body of the Olympus OM-D line.
Image Stabilization (IS): The lens features internal image stabilization that provides up to 5 shutter speed steps of compensation. When mounted to a compatible OM-D or PEN camera body with 5-Axis Image Stabilization, the compensation increases to up to 6.5 steps. With this Synchronized Image Stabilization, you get crisp, clear telephoto images, even without a tripod. You can turn the image stabilization on or off via the IS switch on the lens barrel.
Auto Focus: The M.Zuiko Digital lens is equipped with a single internal focusing element that gives you blazing fast autofocus performance. The lens has silent autofocus and aperture mechanisms to make the lens Movie and Still Compatible (MSC). Most OM-D cameras have a Silent Mode with an electronic shutter that let you focus and shoot in complete silence.
Manual Focus Clutch: The 12-100mm f4.0 IS PRO lens features a manual focus clutch on the focus ring to let you instantly shift from autofocus to manual focus. The clutch allows you to manually preset a focus position using the distance meter. When you pull the clutch ring toward you from the AF mode, the lens returns to the preset focus position.
Lens Hood: The lens includes the LH-76B lens hood, which helps prevent stray light from entering the lens. The lens hood also protects the front lens element from scratches and damage. The lens hood adds nearly 1.5" to the overall length of the lens when installed. When not it use, the hood can be inverted and mounted backward on the lens for storage. In addition to the lens hood, the LSC-0914 Soft Lens Case is also included.
