Pros: Cost and ease of use!
Cons: Nothing yet !
Improve the look of your flash photography with Speedlite 270EX II. Mounted to your Canon SLR or select PowerShot, this powerful-yet-compact add-on flash allows you to shoot in low-light conditions from far greater distances than your camera's built-in flash. Plus, you get the added ability to direct light where you need it for more professional-looking photos.
The 270EX II's flash head can be tilted upward at multiple angles to create indirect lighting effects. Bounced from walls or ceilings, reflected light provides softer illumination with less glare and fewer shadows ideal for taking more pleasing portraits.
All of the necessary connections are made by simply mounting the flash to your camera's accessory shoe. With advanced automatic exposure control, this easy-to-use flash works together with your Canon camera to provide just the right illumination for your photos every time.

I Purchased the Speedlight 270 EXII and was in hopes to use it as a secondary flash. I took a trip to Thailand for three weeks and I found out to my surprise that I was using the 270 EXII as my primary flash during the daylight to brighten faces. Also I used it at night very successfully as primary flash to within its flash range. ( 30 feet ) and jacking up the ISO to 1200 and extended the range to about 50 Feet. I am very pleased with this Canon 270EXII to add it to my arsenal of camera equipment. For the price its money well spent. Also the small size impressed me, and I can carry it in my pocket if necessary. I shot over 250 pictures with this flash.
Pros: Small size, good flash coverage, cost, Tilt - Zoom capability, slave capable, Worked Very well on my G-16 and 18-300mm Tamron lens on my Canon 80D. Easy in / off capable
Cons: Battery life could be better, but not to bad. Carry an extra set of 2 if expecting extended shooting.
Love this...works great on my 70D and will be using it on the new 5ds r...would recommend this flash....
Pros: Easily fits on hot shoe. ..pictures are clear with no yellow tinge. .much better than the pop up flash
Cons: None
So far, I have used it in a bar photographing musicians. It does exactly what it says. I'm using RAW and single shot. I'm not sure how it will do if I'm using it on a rapid fire mode due to recycle time. It did cut out quickly and I didn't have other batteries with me. Went through them quickly I thought. Be sure you bring extras.
Pros: Compact, light, easy to use, easy on and off.
Cons: Burns through batteries. Wish I could have more control on tilt degree. The available tilt settings are preset.
Good flash for 6D. Use it for fill purpose only. Does the job.

I am extremely happy with this Speedlite 270EX II. The adustable bounce lighting capabilities give me excellent softer lighting. I rigged a little reflector that sits behind the flash for even better filled lighting.
Pros: Price. Size. Angled directions. Slave capabilities.
Cons: Minor: A 90+ degree angle would even make it more useful for reflective lighting.
I considered myself a preamatuer photographer. I have owned my Canon Digital SLR for about 3.5 years now. I noticed that the internal flash did not provide enough light for evening indoor events. This flash has definitely resolved that issue and it works seemlessly with the my camera. The photos look great. I just wished I purchased before my recent HS Reunion, where I was the unofficial photographer. :)
Pros: Works seemlessly with the Canon Digital SLR.
Cons: Does not provide enough light for faraway objects.
I read other reviews about this flash unit not being as capable as the more expensive options. However, with my Canon 60D and PowerShot SX 40 HS, it's a great addition. I can be farther away from my subjects so they don't squint from the flash being right in their face. The 60D can also control the flash remotely and the flash can remotely fire the camera. For being a "basic" add-on flash, it gives me a lot more lighting options. I may get a second one to position behind my subjects. Oh, and probably the most important reason that I like this flash - it fires over the lens hood on my 24-105 f/4 L, so I don't get the dark area at the bottom of the frame. I'm very happy with this addition to my camera equipment! Glad I didn't buy any of the more expensive units, because this one works great for me!
Pros: Way better than the built-in flash on my SLR. Can be used off the 60D, camera fires flash remotely.
Cons:
I received the 270EX II Speedlite from Crutchfield in excellent shape. It is easy to attach and helps make wonderful pictures. I haven't used all the features as yet, but with my initial use of the product, I don't have any worries that it won't perform as it is suppose to. Canon products are always top-notch and I will be buying more of them as I can.

Features
Specifications
Dimensions
Compatibility: The Speedlite 270EX II is compatible with all Canon EOS cameras and PowerShot G-series cameras.
Shoe Mount: The 270EX II flash mounts to the intelligent shoe on the top of your compatible Canon EOS or PowerShot G-series camera. Flash trigger, exposure setting, and focal length (zoom) setting are transferred to the flash via the intelligent shoe.
Variable Angle: The firing direction of the flash is adjustable vertically by pulling the flash head forward and tilting it backward. The vertical angle can be adjusted from 0° (straight forward) to 90° (straight up) with additional settings at 60° and 75°. By pointing the flash head toward a wall or ceiling, the flash will bounce off the surface before illuminating the subject. This can soften shadows behind the subject for a more natural-looking shot.
Pilot Lamp: The pilot lamp lights when the flash is ready to fire. If the lamp is flashing, it is ready for a quick flash, but the output will be 1/2 to 1/3 the normal flash.
Fully Automatic Flash Shooting: When you set the camera's shooting mode to program AE or full auto, E-TTL II/E-TTL fully automatic flash will make it as easy as normal AE shooting.
Camera Flash Control: When the 270EX II is mounted to an EOS digital camera with external flash control, you can control the following functions with the camera:
Flash Coverage: The flash coverage can be set to match the focal length of an EF lens from 28mm to 50mm and an EF-S lens from 17.5mm to 31.3mm. With the flash head in normal position, the coverage is set for an EF lens. You can change the flash coverage to that of an EF-S lens by pulling the flash head forward.
Wireless Flash: To perform wireless flash shooting, the camera or the Speedlight attached to the camera must have a master function. The 270EX II fires as a slave flash when controlled from a master unit. The flash comes with a stand that allows you to place the flash on a tabletop or a tripod.
Wireless Remote Control Flash: The flash can be used for remote control shooting with cameras compatible with Remote Controller RC-1, RC-5, or RC-6.
Batteries: The 270EX II flash uses 2 AA batteries. Alkaline, lithium, or NiMH (Nickel-Metal Hydride) rechargeable batteries are recommended. Canon's testing with alkaline batteries yields a recycle time of 0.1 - 3.9 seconds and a flash count of 100 - 680 (depending on flash settings).
Auto Power Off: To save battery power, the power will turn off automatically after approximately 90 seconds of idle use. To turn the Speedlite back on again, press your camera's shutter button halfway down.
