Overview: The BG-E18 Battery Grip is designed for the Canon EOS Rebel T6i and T6s digital SLR cameras. The battery grip can hold up to two LP-E17 battery packs. No batteries are included with the battery grip. When installed, the BG-E18 adds approximately 1-11/16" to the overall height of the camera.
Installation: Before installation, the battery and battery compartment cover are removed from the camera body. The BG-E18 then slides into the battery compartment and mounts to the bottom of the camera, held in place by threading the attachment screw into the camera's tripod insert. An additional tripod insert is provided on the bottom of the grip, so you can still use a tripod or monopod. One or two LP-E17 batteries can be installed in the battery grip. When two batteries are installed in the battery grip, power is supplied simultaneously from both batteries, effectively doubling the battery life.
Battery Life: The estimated number of possible shots you can take using the BG-E18 is as follows:
|Functions||Number of LP-E17 Batteries Inserted||Room Temperature |
(73°F / 23°C)
|Low Temperatures |
(32°F / 0°C)
|50% Flash Use||1||440||400|
Controls: The BG-E18 Battery Grip is equipped with several controls, conveniently placed for use when the camera is in the vertical (portrait orientation) position. The controls include:
- Vertical-grip Operation button
- Shutter Release button
- Aperture/Exposure Compensation button
- AE Lock/FE Lock/Index/Reduce button
- AF point selection/Magnify button
- Main Dial
Note: With the Vertical Grip Operation switch in the Off position, the controls on the battery grip are no longer active; you should use the controls on the camera body.
Hand Strap: The optional Hand Strap E2 (sold separately) can be attached to the BG-E18 for a more secure grip.
Weight: Approximately 9.5 ounces (without batteries)
