Features
Overview: The BG-E21 Battery Grip is designed for the Canon EOS 6D Mark II digital SLR camera. Included with the battery grip is the BGM-E21L which can hold up to two LP-E6 or LP-E6N Lithium-Ion battery packs. No batteries are included with the battery grip. When installed on the EOS 6D Mark II, the BG-E21 adds approximately 1-11/16" to the overall height of the camera.
Installation: After removing the battery and battery compartment cover from the camera, the BG-E21 mounts to the bottom of the camera, held in place by threading the attachment screw into the camera's tripod insert. An additional tripod insert is provided on the bottom of the grip. One or two LP-E6 or LP-E6N batteries can be installed into the BGM-E21L. When two batteries are installed in the magazine, power is supplied simultaneously from both batteries, effectively doubling the battery life.
Battery Life: Using two LP-E6N batteries in the BG-E21, the battery capacity of the EOS 6D Mark II camera is as follows:
Conditions | Viewfinder Shooting | Live View |
---|---|---|
At 73°F (23°C) | 2400 shots | 760 shots |
At 32°F (0°C) | 2200 shots | 680 shots |
Using Household Power: To connect to a household power outlet, the optional AC Adapter Kit AC-E6N (sold separately) should be used. The DR-E6 DC coupler fits into one of the LP-E6N slots in the Battery Grip.
Controls: The Battery Grip is equipped with several controls, conveniently placed for use when the camera is in the vertical (portrait orientation) position. The controls include an AF Point Selection button, AE Lock/FE Lock button, AF Start button, AF Area Selection button, Shutter button, Main Dial, and a vertical grip operation switch. With the switch in the Off position, the controls on the battery grip are no longer active; you should use the controls on the camera body.
Weight: The BG-E21 weighs approximately 12.52 ounces (without batteries).

Added the battery grip to both extend my battery life for 1080p videos and better grip my camera with extended lenses. In addition, I would advise buying the Canon grip strap to prevent any slipping from your hand, helps immensely.
