There are plenty of generic batteries out there and they are much cheaper, but none of them provide remaining battery life, which is essential if you're recording anything of importance. I've used some of the generic batteries and they work perfectly fine if you don't need the camera feedback on battery life, but for me it's worth the extra cost to have that. The biggest drawback is that these batteries do not have a very long recording time and Canon doesn't offer an extended battery for my video camera. You'll only get about an hour if you're recording at the maximum quality setting, which is the only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. The good news is...You'll know when it's about to die.
Pros: Encoded to show remaining battery life down to the minute.
Cons: Doesn't have a very long recording time before it needs to be recharged.
Very great product as the original battery that com with manufactory camcorder plus it has a cover

Cons:
Compatibility: The Canon BP-110 rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery (3.7V/1050mAh/3.9Wh) is compatible with select Canon VIXIA High Definition camcorders.
No Memory Effect: This battery has no memory effect, so it may be charged after only partially discharged without creating memory problems.
Charging: This battery pack is not fully charged upon factory shipment and must be charged before using. The battery can be recharged in the camcorder using the AC adapter supplied with the camcorder. You can also use the optional Canon CG-110 battery charger.
Protective Cover: When storing the battery, attach the protective cover to prevent the electrical contacts from shorting. The cover has a shaped window that can help you differentiate between charged and uncharged batteries depending upon the way it is placed on the battery.
Capacity: The BP-110 charges in approximately 2-1/2 hours using the CA-110 charger that comes with the camcorder. A fully-charged BP-110 is good for 45-50 minutes (typical) or 80-85 minutes (maximum) of recording time. Playback time is approximately 130-140 minutes.
