The Canon PowerShot SX620 HS is small enough to go anywhere, and it packs an amazing 25X optical zoom so you can get closer to the action.
The Canon PowerShot SX620 HS is small enough to throw in a backpack. When you grab it and make use of its 25X optical zoom range, you'll find you can capture sharp close-ups of distant subjects. Sure, a smartphone can deliver a small amount of digital zoom. But it also degrades the quality of your photos, leaving you with grainy images that lack clarity. With the SX620, you'll get outstanding image quality across the zoom range, from a wide-angle landscape to a tight close-up of your kid at graduation.
Thanks to the PowerShot SX620's built in Wi-Fi, it's a snap to wirelessly transfer images from the camera to your smartphone or tablet. Canon's free app for Apple® and Android™ even lets you use your smartphone as a remote, so you can set up the camera on a tripod and use the phone as a monitor and shutter release device. Pretty cool, especially when you consider the image quality and dependable low-light performance this camera offers over smartphone cameras. If you're an Android user, the SX620 offers quick and easy touch pairing via NFC, as well.

Cons:
This camera is small, pocket sized and very easy to setupp and takes great pictures.
Pros:
Cons:
Easy to use, great pictures. Just the way a point and shoot camera should be.
Pros: Fits in any pocket. Easy to use, great pictures.
Cons: the money for the extra battery. You will need it if you are planning on taking pictures for a couple of hours.
Easy to set up and use. Point and shoot so true. Canon hit a home run with this camera.
Pros:
Cons:
Took camera to remote area for camp. No 110 available for charging battery. Seems you need to remove battery from camera, put it in the 110 charger, and get an inverter to change 12 volt to 110 from your cigarette lighter port in your vehicle. Surprised to find out that I can't charge camera battery by just plugging into the lighter and plugging direct into the SX620HS.
Pros: Fantastic pics and videos Great zoom and convenient size.
Cons: Charging Battery in remote areas with no 110 outlets available
I purchased this camera for my trip to Europe and it has not let me down. Compact were it fits in my purse but still takes amazing pictures!
Pros:
Cons:
If you want a camera that is easy to operate, but with lots of extras for when things get more complicated, this is the camera for you. A very nice point and shoot that doesn't take up a lot of space. Have had several instances where the user and others have noted that the camera didn't flash in a low light conditions. But upon viewing the photo, the camera proved to be smarter than the everyone as the photo was perfect without a flash.
Pros: Long battery life, easy to use, useful user manual, great zoom.
Cons: Have only shot 600 pix so far, so no cons yet.
Takes great pictures, great zoom, wi-fi connectivity to smartphone not always available
Pros: Photo quality is excellent Zoom is outstanding for a camera of this size/price Good battery life
Cons: Pairing with smartphone inconsistent, especially in an environment with multiple wireless signals in-range
I was very happy with the camera. After an initial review of the set-up procedures it was a straightforward camera to use. Haven't seen the enlarged images yet but the previews seem to be just fine. My rating could just as well have been a "5" since the impression is very favorable from it's "baptism by fire" on a rail trip.
Pros: Very Compact Responsive Controls
Cons: Battery Needs Almost Daily Charging with Heavy Use
super, super excellent camera
Pros:
Cons:
Bought this camera for my trip to Yellowstone National Park. Specifically I wanted an easy camera with a good zoom feature for those long range shots. I was not disappointed, in fact I was very pleased with this camera! My photos of those distant shots are clear with a lot of detail.
Pros:
Cons:
it works really well. the pictures are stunning and the camera is easy to work.
Pros:
Cons:
I gave this camera to my husband as his holiday gift and he was over-the moon with joy. In 22 years of marriage, I've never scored such a success!!
Pros: Size, zoom, ease of use.
Cons: Nearly threw the memory stick out with the garbage as it was packed loose in the foam peanuts.
The Canon PowerShot SX620 HS is about as close to a PhD (Push here, Dummy) camera that you will find. I did a lot of research on various brands and models of cameras: I didn't need one with outrageous zoom, lots of bells & whistles, movable viewscreen (I won't be recording myself), etc. -- and yet, a camera that takes quality photos and is fairly easy to use. This is it. My only complaint, well, actually two of them: 1) After decades of using cameras with a viewfinder eyepiece, I'm still wanting to put my face/eye up to the camera to site my shot; gotta get used to just using the viewscreen (which is simply impersonal and doesn't allow you to be one, so to speak, with the camera), and 2) I sure wish the viewscreen allowed touch controls.... I am having difficulty transferring my photos wirelessly: could never to get it to work with my PC (even after installing the software and reading/rereading the instructions); couldn't get it to work with my tablet or phone either (and yest, even after installing the app and reading/rereading the instructions). So what I do is wirelessly connect to Google Drive and transfer the photos thusly, and then from G-Drive I can move them to my PC, tablet, phone, and/or post them online, whatever. As long as one method works, I'm okay.
Pros: 1. Fairly easy to use. 2. Takes quality photos (took one of the garden that even amazed the wife with its quality). 3. Has enough zoom for when you need it.
Cons: 1. Manual is a bit cumbersome. 2. Missing a viewfinder eyepiece. 3. No touch screen. 4. Difficulties transferring wirelessly.
Difficult into light. Zoom not easy.
Pros:
Cons:
Great camera, easy to use and spectacular great photos
Pros: Small and light
Cons: There's no cons about this light weight camera.

LCD Monitor: The Canon PowerShot SX620 HS has a 3.0" TFT LCD monitor, featuring 922,000 dots with approximately 100% picture coverage. The LCD display's brightness can be adjusted to one of five levels.
Note: The camera does not have a separate viewfinder.
Image Sensor: The camera is equipped with a 1/2.3" CMOS image sensor with 21.1-million total pixels, and 20.2-million effective pixels.
Optics and Stabilization: The SX620 HS has a 25x optical zoom lens with a 4.5-112.5mm focal length (35mm equivalent is 25-625mm). The built-in Optical Image Stabilizer helps control camera shake to give you clear images when you're zoomed way in.
Zoom: In addition to the 25x optical zoom, the camera features a 4x digital zoom. When used in combination, the total zoom is approximately 100x. When optical and digital zoom are combined, the total focal length is 25-2500mm (35mm equivalent).
Digital Tele-Converter: The focal length of the lens can be increased by an equivalent of 1.6x or 2.0x through the use of the Digital Tele-Converter. The equivalent focal lengths of the lens (35mm equivalent) are 40-1000mm when using the 1.6x digital tele-converter, and 50-1250mm with the 2.0x tele-converter. The digital zoom and digital tele-converter cannot be used simultaneously.
Recording Media: The camera records still images or moving images with stereo audio on SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards. Still images are recorded in JPEG format, and the movies are recorded in MP4 format (Image data: MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, Audio data: AAC stereo). The camera has no built-in memory, and no memory card is included with the camera.
Still Image Resolution/Compression: The SX620 HS can record still images in 4 different sizes (Large, Medium 1, Medium 2, and Small) and 4 aspect ratios (4:3, 16:9, 3:2, and 1:1). For each resolution, you can set the compression to Super Fine or Fine. You can choose from the following resolutions:
4:3 | 16:9 | 3:2 | 1:1 | |

Small | 640 x 480 | 640 x 360 | 640 x 424 | 480 x 480 |
Movies: Movies can be shot in Full HD 1920 x 1080 and HD 1280 x 720 at 30 fps with stereo audio. Standard definition movies can be recorded at 640 x 480 pixels (VGA) at 30 fps with stereo audio. Recording will automatically stop when either the clip file size reaches 4 GB or the recording time reaches approximately 30 minutes for Full HD and HD, and 1 hour for SD. SD Speed Class 10 or higher memory cards are recommended when recording movies.
Continuous Shooting Mode: You can use the continuous shooting mode to shoot successive frames while the shutter button is fully pressed. In Auto/P modes, the camera can take continuous photos at approximately 2.5 frames per second at full resolution. In High Speed Burst mode, the camera will record approximately 7.1 fps at Medium resolution (2592 x 1944).
Focusing Range: The camera features the following focus ranges (from the end of the lens):
Shooting Modes: You can choose between the following shooting modes using the rear panel mode switch:
Metering Modes: You can select from the following metering modes:
Exposure Compensation: If you are shooting against a bright background or strong backlight, you may need to correct the exposure so that the subject doesn't come out too dark. You can set the adjustments from -2 to +2 in 1/3-step increments.
White Balance: You can choose from the following white balance settings: Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Tungsten, Fluorescent, Fluorescent H, and Custom.
Flash Modes: The PowerShot SX620 HS has a built-in pop-up flash. You can select Auto (flash fires in low light), Slow-synchro, On (flash always fires), or Off (flash doesn't fire). The built-in flash has a range of 1.6' to 13' in Wide Angle and 3.3' to 6.6' in Telephoto. In the menu, you can turn on the Red-Eye Reduction lamp for the flash, and apply Red-Eye Correction to the images that have been taken.
ISO Speed: The ISO speed can be set Automatically (ISO Auto), or manually ISO 80 to ISO 3200 in 1 EV steps. Lowering the ISO speed results in sharper images but there's a greater chance of subject or image blurring in certain shooting conditions. Raising the ISO speed results in a faster shutter speed, reducing blurred images. The images, however, will appear more coarse.
My Colors: You can choose the look and feel of the photos you take by using My Colors to add the following effects to the image you are currently recording or have already recorded: Vivid, Neutral, Sepia, B/W, Positive Film, Lighter Skin Tone, Darker Skin Tone, Vivid Blue, Vivid Green, Vivid Red, and Custom Color.
Self-Timer: The SX620 HS utilizes a 10-second, 2-second, and a custom self-timer to allow the photographer to be included in the shot, or to avoid camera shake when using a tripod. The custom self-timer allows you to set the time delay to 1-15, 20, 25, or 30 seconds for up to 10 shots.
Index Display: This feature allows you to view 6, 12, 36, or 100 images at once on the LCD monitor so that you can search for an image quickly. Movies cannot be played in the index playback mode. You can view the index display by rotating the zoom lever toward wide angle while the camera is in playback mode.
Filtered Playback: When there are many images on the memory card, you can filter and display them by a specified filter. You can also protect or delete all images at once while filtered. Available filters include: Name, People, Shot Date, Favorites, and Still Image/Movie.
Shooting Display Options: You can choose to display your photos on the LCD monitor and the viewfinder with and without shooting information. Display options include Histogram, Overexposure Warning, GPS Information, or no Information.
Red-Eye Correction: You can correct red eyes in already recorded images. However, red eyes may not be automatically detected in some images such as faces near the screen edge, faces that appear extremely small, larger dark or bright in relation to the overall image and faces turned to the side or at a diagonal and faces with a portion hidden which prevents the Red-Eye Correction from working. You can choose to overwrite the file with the corrected image, or store the image as a new file, retaining the original image.
PictBridge: Using the supplied USB cable, you can connect this camera directly to a PictBridge-compatible printer of any brand. In this way, you can make prints directly from the camera without having to connect to a computer.
Wi-Fi Features: You can send and receive images and control the camera remotely by connecting the camera to another device via Wi-Fi:
Connecting Smartphones: The PowerShot SX620 HS has a dedicated button for connecting a smartphone. You must first assign a phone to the button, and simply press the button when you're ready to connect. If you'd like to connect a different smartphone, you can connect it via the Wi-Fi menu, as you would connect a computer or another device. Multiple smartphones can be added in this manner. Android smartphones with the NFC feature (running OS version 4.0 or later) can connect to the camera by simply touching the smartphone to the camera's N-mark (on the left side).
Power Requirements: The Canon PowerShot SX620 HS powered by the NB-13L Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery. The camera includes the CB-2LH battery charger, which can charge the NB-13L battery in approximately 2 hours 10 minutes. The estimated battery life of the NB-13L in the SX620 HS is as follows:

By inserting a charged battery or connecting an AC adapter kit, the date/time battery can be charged in approximately 4 hours, even if the camera is not turned on.
Power Saving Functions: The camera is equipped with the following power saving functions:
Note: The Power Saving Function will not activate during a Slide-Show or while the camera is connected to a computer.

Favorable reviews on other websites. [ Dale Jul 12, 2018 ]
My experience is that Canon is the best value for performance, intuitive user controls, and price. Happy to see Crutchfield offer a few "sweetners" (memory chip, cleaning cloth, etc) to remain cost competitive with other vendors. Free delivery within one week of Xmas is fantastic. Thanks Crutchfield! [ Robert Dec 20, 2017 ]
Good gift for my brother -who doesn't need all the bells and whistles - just the basics with a good 25X zoom. [ Sherwyn Sep 15, 2017 ]

I need a good zoom lens, a camera for my pocket, light weight and well reviewed. This one has all that and a low price. [ Timothy Mar 25, 2018 ]
Easily could have went to bestbuy, but with Crutchfield's excellent service, quick shipping, and how well they have done me in the past it was the first place I looked for a Christmas camera (gift) for my wife. Will always continue to do business with Crutchfield. [ JUVAN Dec 21, 2017 ]
I had one similar to this camera before and found the features easy to use, the camera physically was of good quality, and the camera also took excellent photos even in low light conditions. [ Angela L. May 10, 2017 ]
