Product Research
Features
Overview: The Soundtube SM500i-II is a commercial 25/70/100 volt, surface mount speaker featuring a 5.25" coaxial driver mounted in a ported enclosure. Designed for both indoor and damp outdoor applications, the speaker features the new Stealth bracket mounting system, full frequency dispersion pattern, and a high driver sensitivity, making it ideal for music and paging in retail, amusement parks, airports, hotels, schools, and many other applications.
Two-Way Driver Design: The SM500i-II features a 5.25" woofer, with polypropylene cone and butyl rubber surround, and a coaxially mounted 1" convex titanium tweeter. Utilizing Soundtube's BroadBeam Ring technology, the speaker offers a consistent dispersion pattern up to 10 kHz for maximum coverage area per speaker.
Enclosure: Available in black or white, the speaker features Soundtube's patented ZeroReflection enclosure technology for optimal sound reproduction and cabinet rigidity. The ported enclosure is constructed of injection-molded, glass-reinforced ABS along with a powder-coated aluminum grill.
Multi-tap Transformer: The SM500i-II includes a 64 watt multi-tap transformer for 25-, 70-, or 100-volt installations. There is also a bypass position that allows normal 4 ohm operation for installations that do not require a transformer. Tap settings are done from a front-mounted rotary switch that's recessed behind the grill and hidden with a rubber plug. Tap settings include the following:
- 25 Volt: 0.5W, 1W, 2W, 4W, and 8W
- 70 Volt : 4W, 8W, 16W, 32W, and 64W
- 100 Volt: 16W, 32W, and 64W
- Bypass Setting: 4 Ohm nominal
Terminal Strip: A 4-position Euroblock (Phoenix) connector is provided for wiring connections. One set of terminals provides the signal input while the other set provides a paralleled pass-thru for daisy-chaining multiple speakers. Each terminal can accommodate speaker wire up to 12 gauge in size and includes a set-screw to hold the wire firmly in place.
Mounting Bracket: The SM500i-II utilizes Soundtube's new Stealth bracket mounting system which allows the speaker to pivot vertically and horizontally. This includes a mounting bracket that, once attached to the wall, allows the speaker's spring-loaded attachment piece to simply slide into the mounting bracket and lock in place by twisting the speaker. This low profile design keeps the speaker close to the wall and allows it to be easily adjusted without the need for tools. A 10" safety cable that attaches to the rear of the speaker is included.
