About the Hertz SX 250D
Experience and expertise
Experience and expertise
When Hertz speakers made their debut in 1998, they quickly distingushed themselves with their award-winning performance and design innovations. They created the SPL Show Series for competitors who require high power handling under extreme conditions. The SX 250D 10" subwoofer's offers the power handling and adaptability you need to create the perfect car system.
Made to be played loud
The SX 250D's cone is made of pressed paper, the same material as most musical instrument loudspeakers. The high-density foam surround and two-layer spider work with the cone to keep things on track, even at extreme volume levels. And this sub's internal works are designed to dissipate heat efficiently, so this sub can handle the high temperatures of extended play.
With 600 watts of continuous power handling (2400 watts peak), the SX 250D gives you the kind of massive low end that everyone will notice. Its dual 2-ohm voice coils expand your options when designing your system. This sub is designed for use in sealed or ported enclosures so you can tailor the bass response to your tastes.

Dual 2Ω Voice Coils: This woofer features two 2Ω voice coils to offer wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 1Ω load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents a 4Ω load. The included jumpers allow easy selection of 1Ω or 4Ω impedance while only using wire for a single speaker.
Terminals: The set screw terminals are all located on one side of the woofer. The terminals will accept bare wire up to 8 gauge.
Thermal Enhancer: Installing the included Thermal Enhancer plate (and gasket) reduces the operating temperature of the subwoofer's voice coils, increasing power handling and the acoustic pressure generated.
Note: Using the Thermal Enhancer increases the pressure inside the subwoofers air gap, causing an increase in mechanical noise. Because of this, it's typically only used in SPL competition.
Sealed Box: Hertz recommends a sealed enclosure volume of 22 liters (0.78 ft³). Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable for all types of music.
Ported Box: Hertz recommends a sealed enclosure volume of 26 liters (0.92 ft³) with one 80mm (3.15") diameter x 250mm (9.84") long port. Ported (or vented) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed, maximizing bass output for a given amplifier.
