NFL Samsung HDTV

Samsung is one of the most experienced and innovative makers of DLP televisions. All those years of expertise helped create the sleek, sophisticated HL61A750. This HDTV employs Samsung's latest LED technology to deliver a big, colorful picture that can really fill a room. And the cabinet's super-thin bezel gives this model a cool, all-screen look.

State-of-the-art LED light engine
Instead of using a lamp and spinning color wheel like most DLP sets, the HL61A750 features a series of rapid-flashing Light Emitting Diodes that produce the red, green and blue primary colors, as well as the TV's illumination. For the few people who occasionally see "rainbows" — distracting flashes of color — when watching conventional DLP TVs, Samsung's LED-based light engine usually solves the issue. This system delivers high-contrast images with an ultra-wide color range, and 40% higher brightness than last year's models. Other LED benefits include cooler, quieter operation, lower energy consumption, and much quicker start-up.

High-definition the way it was meant to be seen
The HL61A750 boasts 1080p resolution, which is pretty much a necessity to ensure a crystal-clear picture on a screen this large. Whether you get your high-definition signals from cable, satellite, or over-the-air, most HD programs are broadcast in 1080i. A 1080p set like this one lets you enjoy them in all their splendor and detail. This TV also lets you take full advantage of high-definition Blu-ray Disc™ players, which output video signals in ultra-clear and detailed 1080p resolution.

A wealth of inputs for a variety of viewing options
The HL61A750 gives you plenty of inputs for your current and future audio/video gear. Three HDMI inputs let you plug in high-def satellite receivers, video game consoles, and other HDMI-equipped components. This "3D-ready" HDTV can deliver a startling 3D experience at home. To make it happen, you need an optional "3D kit" — an IR emitter and special viewing glasses. Right now, only a limited amount of 3D content is available, and you have to connect your PC to the TV to view it.

One of the best TV's I've owned

edamon from LA,CA on 10/15/2011

I've owned this TV now for about 2 years and it's the best HDTV I've owned to date (and have new models in other rooms). The picture quality is amazing, tons of inputs and just nothing bad to say. We've got a 55" LCD LED 3D in the bedroom and a 42" in my sons room and none match the picture quality, even being newer sets (one Sony the other Samsung). The 61" is perfect, even though I remember wondering if I should have gone with the 67". This model can still be found and the prices are in a nice sweet spot now (I paid ~$2K, it's down around $1200 now and worth every penny). In comparisons to other TV's friends have in the same size (from Sony, Mitsub, etc) - when they see this model they all have buyers remorse. 1080p, 120hz, supports 3d... and at the current price, hard to beat that stick with a snake ;)

Crutchfield sold us a lemon

dissatisfied from Northern VA on 11/19/2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After years as a more-than-satisfied Crutchfield car stereo customer, we decided to buy this TV from Crutchfield. We've owned the TV for 9 months, and the TV has had two part failures, each of which has prevented the TV from working for several weeks each. When we notified Crutchfield of our problems, we were told: "... Unfortunately, that does not mean that all of [Samsung's] TVs will be trouble-free. The good news is that Samsung is able to take care of the problem for you under the TV's one year warranty." My recommendation is not to pay the Crutchfield premium on TVs, because Crutchfield doesn't have the level of service and support that they do with car stereo equipment -- they'll just send you to the manufacturer to deal with the problem yourself. By the way, my TV is currently still broken (3 weeks now) and we're waiting for a repeat visit from the repair company to replace the power supply. <br> <b>[Editor's Note: We apologize for the problems you have encountered with your TV. Any repairs to your TV will be covered under your one year Samsung warranty.]</b>

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

So far I have no complaints about the set itself. Picture in HD is absolutely fantastic-clear-sharp-detailed-vivid colors. Difference between LCD and this DLP is a warmer picture. LCD has a brighter, sharper bite to its picture, but the DLP has warmer appearance and would be much better on the eyes at this size than LCD especially during longer viewing. The cost is quite less than the 46" Sony and Toshiba LCD I was eyeing. And for the cable signal, I wasn't gaining any advantage over the DLP. Bigger screen, several hundred less, same options - no brainer. Delivery was in and out the door in 3 minutes flat - unpacked and placed on the stand - the rest I wanted to do! Audio lacks any type of base-but produces well aside from that. Movies, and HD programming are fantastic and quickly remind me how glad I am I dropped the LCD notion. However - standard cable with non-HD programming tends to appear grainy-blotchy and fuzzy around close-up shots. This is NOT a DLP drawback, but rather poor broadcast by the networks, courtesy of your local cable/dish provider to get you hooked on paying for HD programming! Options are plenty for customizing picture and sound. No bulb is a HUGE advantage for long term maintenance, using LEDs instead, producing very little heat. I am very pleased with the sets capabilities and no regrets buying this over an LCD, as well as completely stunned a DLP can produce such a fantastic picture in HD at this size.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This tv is BIG. Upgrading from a 27" CRT to this 61" DLP was way overdue. I still need to hook up an HD 1080p source, but even regular DVDs look great on this television. Crutchfield has excellent customer service. I will definately be buying more home theater equipment from Crutchfield. The white glove delivery was the icing on the cake.

Beautiful set..Great price

Ed from Cortland N.Y. on 2/16/2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Received my set in about 4 days, the white glove delivery was excellent. They said they had been delivering a lot of these sets (there was another one on the truck). They even helped me take my old 32" CRT to the garage. After looking longingly at it, one of the deliverymen was going to try to buy one for himself. You can't beat the cost per value. Right out the box the picture looked beautiful. I let it run about five hours then adjusted the "movie mode" using the Avia Home Theater set up DVD. Now the picture is near perfect! I would HIGHLY recommended anybody that owns this set to adjust it using such a disc if your not going to get it professionally calibrated. It will make a good set look GREAT! My only complaint is the vertical viewing angle, thought that is common to rear projectors and I new that before I bought it. I did tilt the whole set, as my present stand is a little taller than it should be, and that helped until I can get a lower stand for it. After watching the little HDTV that is available from my local Time Warner cable (30 channels), I can't help wondering why every channel is not in HD. I would highly recommend this set to anybody, if you can find it. With the LED lamp I look forward to many years of use. I can't say enough about Crutchfields as a company and all the staff. I have used them for years and have never had a complaint.

Jeff from Long Island, NY on 2/16/2009

First off, if you don't already know, Crutchfield customer service is great. I got my TV quickly at a good price, and they were sure to check up to see how everything was going. I'm pretty impressed with the TV itself. The HD picture looks great. It works well with our seating setup, but as others have mentioned, the off-angle viewing is poor. That includes vertical angle too. Basically, if you're looking for a big screen, have the right seating arrangement, and don't need to hang the TV on your wall, this TV is a no brainer?

Spectacular HDTV Experience

Garry from Charlotte, NC on 2/14/2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had been waiting a few years to purchase an HDTV but have always been particularly interested in DLP technology. After reading all the reviews on this set and seeing the great screen/price ratio I decided to jump in. This is by far the best tv viewing experience I have ever had. I looked long and hard at LCD and Plasma but was never really satisfied with the picture. The clarity on the Samsung is far superior to anything that i have seen - unless you want to plunk down several thousand dollars more on a Kuro or LaserVue! For those that criticize this tv for its viewing angle just let me say this, "For the best viewing experience you should be directly in front of the media source you are watching and your eyes should be level with the center of the picture just as in the case of watching a movie at the theater. I never go to a movie theater and sit at an off angle (even though it doesn't matter there) so why would I do that at home?" There is a "sweet" spot with DLP but WOW! what a sweet spot it is! No regrets in buying this tv and I agree with everyone's assessment on Crutchfield's customer service - top notch! Thanks!

Very Satisfied with the HL61A750

Duane from Flintridge, CA on 2/12/2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've had this HDTV for 3 weeks now. It has a beautiful picture, much better than the demo model I saw in a local store. In my opinion, it's better than being there for sports events. We also have a smaller LCD HDTV but its picture doesn't hold a candle to the detail shown on the HL61A750. The LED technology makes this 61" DLP HDTV superior in both longevity as well as energy use (Energy Star Rated max 173 watts). I have to confess that I haven't had it long enough to comment on its reliability and consequently Samsung's warranty service. The shipping company Crutchfield used was punctual, friendly, and of course 'white gloved' in their handling of the HDTV. I couldn't be happier with Crutchfield's communication and delivery.

Dan from Grand Rapids, Michigan on 2/11/2009

This TV is excellent! I am new to the world of HD and I made the right choice. Firstly, Crutchfields price blew everyone elses away. $1300. delivered to my TV stand and the carton taken away. DLP TV's are known for loosing picture at extreme angles, do you watch your TV from the side? Mine is positioned against a wall with seating on the sides (not next to the TV), and directly in front. The picture quality is spectacular. This model has more picture adjustments than most people need. I completely recommend this set to anyone interested in a huge bang for the buck!! All I need now is a theater quality popcorn popper to ad some ambience. Thanks Samsung, Thanks Cruthfield!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It seems the TV has now been discontinued, which is a true shame. I've had the TV for about a month now and nothing compares to watching this TV. It makes my 42" Panasonic Plasma TV look like a handheld screen. You might think you'd notice a drop off in quality due to the screen size compared to a 42" Plasma, but none exists. The HD and STD picture quality is top notch. The resolution is fast and smooth with minimal adjustment from the factory settings. Set-up was a breeze and having the input/output panel on the side is genious. It's too bad marketing brainwashed the public into thinking they must have a flat panel LCD or Plasma. This TV is very light and the back is barely noticable. Who needs to hang a TV on a wall when you can get a TV like this that makes it look like the TV screen is the wall. A+ all around on Crutchfield's service and white glove delivery.

Too much hype

Rito from Lititz, PA on 2/9/2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had high expectations for this TV based on numerous positive ratings and reviews. I beg to disagree! This is the worst TV of any kind I ever had. If you are watching this TV and your line of sight is at dead center, then yes, images can be very good. But, ...and here's the big but: The images are poor off-center. The vertical viewing angle is very narrow, probably less than 30 degrees. I watch this TV from ten feet away. If I move my line of sight one foot above or one foot below dead center, the colors, saturation, sharpness and contrast would noticeably change for the worse. On a 4 X 3 aspect the vertical letter box are bowed inwards (pincushioning). My ten-year old Sony DLP does not do that! If I had to do it over again, I would spend extra for an LCD or a Plasma TV. Of course this TV is not a reflection of Crutchfields outstanding web site and customer service. I have been a Crutchfield customer for twenty two years.

Michael from Concord, NH on 2/9/2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I researched my purchase for about one month. When I started the process the only thing I new for sure was that I did not want a DLP television. After price shopping, reading reviews and looking at televisions in local stores, I narrowed my choice to this TV. The picture, the size, the price and the LED light source in the Samsung HL61A750 changed my mind about DLP. Even after deciding on this TV I waited for the right price. Crutchfield's price was the lowest I saw among retailers that had good reviews for customer service. (Crutchfield's was better than good). The picture on the TV is spectacular. Although it is not a flat panel, it looks like one from the front. I have had concerns about pixelation or seeing too much green in the picture, both of which have happened, but I believe that those problems can be traced to the signal from the cable company or the networks. A Blu-ray disc had no such problems. I use the least expensive HDMI cable I could find ........in case that matters to anyone. I always expect a problem with electronics but I am completely satiisfied with this purchase. It is too soon to say I will not have any problems, but so far, so good. (I have had the TV about one month). One thing that may be helpful to know is that if the purchase of almost any Samsung product is regestered with Samsung, they extend the warranty by three months. I registered on-line (I don't know if that is a requirement).

The picture is absolutely amazing with the HD reception and watching a blue ray movie will leave you in awe. Had a great Superbowl party because of the set and it was shipped for free with free setup on site. Why hasn't more companies thought of this!! If you are looking for a large set and don't mind not having to have the flat LCD or plasma TV this is a good option (not very deep for a projection TV) for the price.

Jack from Elk City, OK on 2/8/2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It's really too bad that DLP is going the way of the dinosaurs. This 61" TV is tremendous in every way. Its only shortcoming is that you can't hang it on the wall. The LED lamps are a big improvement over the old halogen technology; the blacks are deep and the color is simply breath taking (check out CSI Miami!). Ordering from Crutchfield was easy, and the TV arrived much sooner than I anticipated. There simply is no better value in plasma or LCD to be found.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had a three year old Samsung HL-R6167W which I was pleased with until I purchased a smaller LCD TV. The picture on the LCD was so much brighter and clearer than the old Samsung. When I started looking for a new TV, I was surprised at the cost of LCD Tv's and the smaller size. I then started to read the glowing reviews about the new Samsung HL61A750. I went to several store to look at it, but all of the stores that I went to had the set high up in the air and the picture (due to the extreme viewing angle) appeared dark. I was then hesitant to buy it, but when I saw that it was being sold by Crutchfield, I realized that if I wasn't satisfied with the set, Crutchfield would take care of me. Now for my review, the set is magnificent. The picture is extremely bright, even at the normal level (it can be adjusted even brighter - I never thought that I would say this - too bright for me) and beautifully detailed. The price I paid for this set and getting it from such a reputable dealer, made this purchase an outstanding bargain. P.S. I forgot to say that it came with in home delivery and setup at no extra cost. WOW!!!

I bought the Samsung to replace a 4 year old Sony 60" LCD projection TV. All I can say is wow what a great picture. It didn't take much adjustment to get the picture to where I wanted it. I also like that this television is LED, so no worries about replacing the lamp or color wheel problems like other DLP sets. Then you add the great price and service/support you get when you buy from Crutchfield, made buying this item an easy decision.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Greetings: I wanted to purchase one DLP and one LCD television and this one was highly rated. I went into local stores to see this television in person, and this one looked great in the stores. I "lit the candle" and odered this television from Crutchfield [which had the lowest price, bar none!]. Although it was out of stock when I placed my order, I received the television within two week of ordering. I am pleased with my purchase. The high definition [HD] channels look great as do my DVDs, the standard definition look good but not as good as the HD channels. My son's PlayStation 3 games are a sight to behold. The only draw back is the television's speaker system, they're "hum-drum" -- so I'm planning to purchase a home theater system.

This Samsung HL61A750 is the best bang for the buck of any HDTV on the market and I've seen quite a few. What a change from older DLP's, The LED technology gives one of the sharpest pictures out there, You could spend thousands more and not surpass this picture quality. I highly recommend Crutchfield for their great pricing and technical support, The Free white glove delivery was done by Eagle Freight who unpacked it, put on a stand and checked it out for me. What can I say, Great service plus a Great price. I'm a repeat customer.

I have been waiting to buy an HDTV for quite a while. My old Mitsubishi big screen bit the dust last year after 17 faithful years! I was attracted by the LED feature of this DLP. I liked the energy savings and not having to buy bulbs in the future. I was looking for a smaller HDTV because my living room is small but 61" is the smallest size with LED's and the price was right! It overpowers the room but I love it. Still trying to figure out the controls but very happy with the picture quality. I got lucky because the Superbowl was broadcast in digital so I got to watch the game with the better/bigger picture. Regular cable picture is enhanced by this set but once you've seen HDTV, you get spoiled and want it on all your channels. Bob

Very nice TV. I went from a 42" Sony LCD RP to a Samsung 50" RP DLP. Unfortunately, I am sensitive to 'rainbows'. I switched to this model (totally painless with Crutchfield) and couldn't be happier. The Super Bowl was phenomenal! I recently hooked up a Blue-ray DVD player (Sony PS3) and WOW!!! On the negative (and there's only one) I still see the 'rainbows', just not as bad as with the spinning wheel on the 50" DLP. I highly recommend this TV. You won't be disappointed.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This tv so far has been great. It has a great picture and clear sound. We have been very pleased with it. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because of a few little annoyances. The tv takes about 10 seconds at start up to recognize the cable signal and to lock in and there is a little music start up jingle that also plays when the tv is turned off. I can't seem to find a way to disable this sound. Well, overall we love it and are very happy with our purchase!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am more than pleased with my new Samsung HL61A750, which has worked flawless since the day I received it. I love watching my blu ray movies using my Onkyo TX-NR905 receiver and my Sony BDP-550 or my PS3. Normally HD tv programming looks fantastic with my Dish 722 DVR, it is so much better than cable. What I really like is how much energy you save compared to my "old Mitsubishi WD-57731 DLP tv. I could really feel the heat that the Mitsubishi generated compared to the Samsung 61A750 which generated no heat what so ever, no matter how long you had it on. Another thing I really liked was the way I had to hit "Source" to get it up and running. It automatically which HDMI port I had it hooked upto. I could go on and on about the great features of this tv, but they have been already said. All I can say is that I really love this tv and it sure beats Plasmas or LCD's.

2nd Samsung DLP

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This new 61"samsung television is better than the first one that I purchased which was a 52". The coloration with the unit is fabulous and I don't think I could have spend money on a better unit. The color stands out tremendously when is ran through HDMI or (Blue-Ray). So I give this size and contrast a high thumbs up. Samsung will continue to score high with me due to their high graphics. I've been a long term customer ,but this is my first major purchase through Crutchfield and with this experience I will be back. Winning the AFC championship encouraged me to buy this product. I will replay my Pittsburgh Steelers Superbowl Championship win on this TV, by week end.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I researched, including reading all of the current reviews I could find. In local stores, there was not any interest except in plasma or LCD, nor was there any knowledge. This is too bad. The set is really phenominal. I have a close friend who works at a local electronics retailer and he says that the picture is better than anything in his store. I have yet to play any Blu-ray, but at this time I am extremely satisfied. Most of you know that other internet stores have a slightly better price, but nobody can compare with the service and support at Crutchfields which is why I buy there.

I was worried about having a LED projection TV in our home with lots of widows that flood the room with light during the day, but that is no problem for this TV. It is great! It even has different presets for brightness that sets the system for the perfect picture. No need to use the brightest settings even in this room. Viewing angle is great! The picture is perfect whether using it with as a computer monitor or watching your favorite Blu-Ray. I made the right choice.

Phenomenal TV and picture !

Vojislav from Broadview Heights, Ohio on 1/18/2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

In my lenghty research, it came down to the Mitsubishi Diamond WD-65835 and the Samsung HL61A750. Both TVs have great picture quality, but what made my decision easier was the fact that Samsung is an LED model, with clearer, sharper picture, with no bulb to replace. Two weeks after purchasing the TV, which is in my basement rec room, and connected to a modest Home Theater Denon receiver and speakers, I showed off my new TV, and one of my friends, with his mouth open when I displayed a HD feed, said, "this is phenomenal. What a clear picture"'. That's all the endorsement anyone needs. However that's not how my review ends. My son-in-law liked the TV so much that he bought one, even though Crutchfield was out of stock. My referal earned me a $20 Crutchfield certificate, and he received a $20 additional discount. Since then I refered another close friend, and they bought the same TV. Crutchfield service is unequaled, and their "white glove" delivery placed my TV on the stand in my basemnet. As for the TV, it has 3 HDMI conections, and an USB for displaying photos, and playing music with your flash drive. If connected to another Samsung unit, such as a DVD player, the TV recognises the signal, turns the set on, and connects it directly. If the unit has one weakness, it's the built in speakers, but most people will have a Home Theater set up anyway. Snatch one of these from Crutchfield before Samsung quits making DLPs. Highly recommend the TV, and Crutchfield is #1

Crisp High-Def, Low Energy Cost, BIG Screen, BIG Savings

hamboneosu from Columbus, OH on 1/18/2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Pros: The Samsung 61" HD DLP (LED) Television is one of the best media entertainment purchases that I have made to date. This television boasts crisp, high-definition images that are comparable to Plasma & LCD models at double the base cost of the Samsung LED. If you do not have a home entertainment receiver, this TV provides a useful variety of audio / video inputs with clear audio. The long life expectancy & low-power usage of the Samsung LED TVs provides incredible long-term savings for the consumer. For its size, this TV is very light-weight & can be adjusted / moved around by a single person. We have tried many types of media (DVD, CD, XBOX 360, etc.) & several home theater receivers (Onkyo & Sony) with this television & are always impressed with the HD picture, near non-existent heat emission, & low power consumption. Cons: The TV is much thinner than most DLP-style TVs by comparison, but is not as thin as an LCD or Plasma (e.g. not wall-mountable). Its non-HD resolution is vibrant, but does leave some clarity to be desired. The on-screen menu is attractive & with excellent options, but is not the most intuitive menu that I have used. The native speaker sound is lacking in low-frequency sound. Overall: I recommend this TV to anyone looking for a new HDTV--the LED DLP puts affordability & quality back into home entertainment.

Best value, great picture, HUGE!

Ted from Bristol, Connecticut on 1/14/2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm a broadcast engineer and work for a cable TV sports network. I do technology research for them, and I was project director for their new HDTV production facility here in Connecticut. I have a lot of experience with professional HDTV systems. I've been holding off for years buying a HDTV for home. Why? Because I'm used to looking at full bandwidth uncompressed HD video at work every day on broadcast quality monitors. Most consumer HDTV's disappoint me. Another thing about me - I'm frugal to the max. I decided to finally purchase an HDTV and chose Crutchfield because they provide great product detail, fair prices and fabulous support. About the Samsung HL61A750A television - FABULOUS! No, it's not a broadcast quality HD monitor, but for the price, it's just fantastic. I like the amount of setup control for the typical parameters and many other controls such as gamut, gamma, edge sharpness and many other Samsung unique controls. The Phaltlight illumination eliminates almost every negative of DLP technology - rainbow fringing with eye movement, noise and heat, costly bulb replacement, and the color wheel. Low power consumption and light weight are other pluses. I like the host of input formats (component, HDMI, composite and S video), and the digital audio out. As I'm involved with industry 3DTV standards, it's great that this HDTV is 3D ready and Samsung is selling a 3D kit for this TV. I've only owned it a day now, but so far I give Samsung five stars.

Scott from Saginaw, MI on 12/31/2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

TV was out of stock when I ordered it but it still arrived fairly quickly. If you can control the lighting in your room, use the Movie mode and the Warm 2 setting for the most accurate color and contrast settings. Dynamic mode may cause a buzzing noise as will too high a setting for the LED control so use LOW or MIN if possible. The picture is fantastic on Over-the-air HD, but this TV begs for Blu-ray. When fed a 1080p/24 fps picture via HDMI the picture JUMPS out at you. TV is lightweight and has a really thin bezel around it for a great appearance. But if you are using this TV in a home theater set-up you should consider a Universal remote because the supplied remote only controls the TV and nothing else, except a Samsung Blu-ray hooked up via HDMI with the HDMI-CEC function enabled. This TV is a fantastic value and really delivers the goods. Highly recommended!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased this 'big guy' (Lucy was my Customer Rep and she was FANTASTIC), it shipped on Monday Dec 8, and was delivered IN MY HOUSE Friday, Dec 12th. White glove service AS promised and WHEN promised. So we let the TV get up to room temp as we put together the TV Stand. Hooked everything up (took less than 10 minutes), which included waiting for the Digital HD receiver to load (cable company)....then it was lights, camera, action - NHL HOCKEY GAME in HIGH DEF, SPIDERMAN 3 in HIGH DEF. The picture is SUPER, the sound (through my new SONY STR DG820 receiver) SUPER...I am totally pleased with this deal from beginning to end (again Lucy was wonderful in answering ALL of my questions). This 61 inch screen is huge but NOT overwhelming, you certainly can't miss its presence in your viewing room. It's not even been 24 hours since we've started watching this TV and we already have a parade of our adult children their friends coming over to look at this amazing set (and picture). Almost everyones initial reaction is "that a huge set'. Then they sit down as if drawn to watch whatever is showing on the TV. I might as well get geared up to sell popcorn!! LOL Did I say this was a SUPER television?? - and it's amazingly LIGHT WEIGHT. I know this review isn't very techinal - just wanted to share our satisfaction with this TV and Crutchfield - they live up to their promise of excellent customer service and support.

This Samsung is truly Awesome! When I got this out of the box and set it up, I was truly in awe of the quality picture without having to make any adjustments. Coupled with my new Onkyo Receiver and Panasonic Blu-Ray the picture and sound are second to none. I can't imagine paying double the price for a LCD or Plasma. And the viewing angle of this projection TV is nearly as good as the LCD and Plasma's out there. I would recommend this Samsung to anyone and everyone.

Bottom line, value and performance. I began my TV shopping thinking LCD and Plasma;s outclassed DLP. I no longer thing so. I'm so glad I bought this set. I see colors in this set that blow me away. This set looks soooo good that I can't walk away from the commerials. I've been a HT fan for years and was using an 8 yr old Sony 61HS30 - it showed HD fine (1080i) - but the upgrade is unbelievable. I shopped this set at a local store and they clearly had it set wrong or positioned wrong or wanted to sell LCD / Plasmas because it rocks as good as they do and doesn't have the high price. Also - 1. No room reflection 2. Larger screen sizes 3. lower prices 4. Thin bezel is cool too * 5. perfect geometry and convergence Its sooo good. Did I tell you how good it is.? Thank you Crutchfield - money better spent on TV than dates. -

8/8/08. 1:02PM. The truck pulls up to the house. My heart beat quickens. It's like that feeling when you buy a new sports car--only better. I open the door. A very courteous man, pushing a massive (it was big) box, asks where I want it. I invite him in and point to the just assembled stand. In no time at all he has the thing unpacked and on the stand. It is big! He gives me the packet of info and I sign the paperwork. After letting the condensation dissipate (this is FL with 90 degrees outside and 76 in), I turned it on. I've surely died and gone to video heaven--the picture is THAT good! 8/15/08. One week later and I still love this set. I've tweaked the settings (and, believe me, there are many useful options) and am near perfection. I highly recommend this 61" Samsung! I don't know which I am more impressed with: Samsung or Crutchfield! From Marshall, my Crutchfield advisor, to the guy who delivered the TV, it was one smooth ride--in a mere 30 minutes, I went from 31" aging analog to 61" digital delight. I doubt you will find this TV for less money elsewhere, but if you do, go with Crutchfield anyway--you positively will not regret it. They are THAT good.

I set cable box to output 1080 & 480p, now the standard shows, sent in 480p, look nearly as good as the 1080, gorgeous! With the new TruSurround it's really nice. I didn't have my receiver connected for the first full day, I thought the sound was really good. I have difficulty hearing what's said on TV sometimes, not with this TV, and I don't have to blast it. With the TruSurround on, it really did give the TV a sense of surround sound without muffling the speaking sound. So far the TV is better than expected. I have a 37" LCD in my bedroom, so I know how nice they look, but I just couldn't justify the price right now; The picture is every bid as good as the bedroom TV, the screen doesn't reflect light from inside the room or from the windows, The set is made so that the screen is just about the entire front of the box it's housed in, so there isn't a lot of extra box taking up room. I really wanted a bigger TV, but this TV looks a lot bigger than expected. Bottom line, I'm glad I saved the money and got this TV.

I looked long and hard before parting with my cash. After viewing this product at a local electronics store and checking out the specs, I ordered it. The Picture is great especially for someone like me that has poor eyesight. The HiDef stations are great but as most of you know broadcast is only 1080i. Sooooo I bought a blue ray player and the picture quality is markedly improved over broadcast. The audio is acceptable, but I did not by the set for the sound. My surround sound system takes over well for the movie experience. A minor negative is that the remote is dedicated to the tv only and it has a weird shape. Set up of components is straight forward. Use hdmi for your best picture , after all you are spending a chunk of money. It would cost thousands more to get a similar size set that hangs on the wall, this set is so thin compared to my old projection set that it does not matter.

this was my first major TV purchase in 5years. I didn't want to just go with the best priced HDTV. So I did some research with price and technology features and decided to go with the LED version with 1.3 HDMI outputs. Hogan (my Crutchfield rep) gave me a great deal...everything the local electronics store couldn't provide. The TV is lightweight and matched the stand perfectly. Connecting the my HD DVR and DVD to this TV was a snap. All the connections on the TV were conveniently located on the lower right-side of the TV. There wasn't a need to move the TV just to get to the connections. Setting up the TV was a breeze, The TV automatically identifies each "source" and highlights it on the TV source menu. So switching between cable and DVD is fool-proof. This TV looks good with Standard DEF programs but screams for HD programs and this is where this TV excels. Also, the viewing angle is perfect for any room. If you previewed this TV at your local elec. store like I did, you probably were kind of set back by the video source that they feed this TV. However, they probably fed it a DVD source, because when I hooked up my HD receiver to it I was pleasantly surprise by the outcome. Now, I want a Blu-ray player to really show this TV's full potential!! -emm

I ordered this Samsung TV on Thursday, and It was at my home on Monday afternoon. I have to say it has the best picture I have seen. I can not see a difference between it and a plasma screen unit. I have it hooked up to a HD directv satellite and a progressive scan Yamaha DVD Player. Very easy to opporate, and setup was a breeze. I do not see the need to buy a Blue ray player as clear and as crisp that my DVD's look on this unit, using component video only. Recieved the tv one week after call, via eagle freight who contacted me a day before delivery to give me the time of actual delivery the next day. They placed the tv on make shift stand and informed me that I should let the tv settle to room temp for one hour. During this time I put the free stand together and then turned the tv on. Awsome picture with both cable hdtv and dvd, no problems except the directions to set up stand was incorrect, howevever didn't take to long to figure things out. Samsung has really done it with this 2nd generation LED-driven beauty. I just picked it up to complement my 5.1 system and it looks fantastic. First of all, the weight is unbelievable. If it wasn't 62" in size, my mom could pick it up and move it around herself. But, since its still bulky it is a VERY EASY 2-person job to move this 62" TV. The picture is very bright, doesn't glare much like a plasma, and looks fantastic with sports and action movies (high-speed video). There are a lot of AV inputs (3 HDMI) and the Samsung menu / software is very good. Overall you can't go wrong with this product.

DLP Projection System: DLP (Digital Light Processing) technology by Texas Instruments is the only display solution that enables projection systems to create a purely digital connection between a digital video or graphic source and the screen in front of you. While all other technologies are analog and compromise some image quality in translation, DLP projection unleashes the full potential of high-quality video content.

Next Generation DLP Chip by Texas Instruments: Samsung employs a DLP chip that is comprised of millions of microscopic mirrors capable of switching on and off at 15,000 or more times a second to deliver a razor-sharp picture for fast-moving images. When combined with Samsung's new Cinema Smooth Light Engine, the result is a crisp, bright picture with deep, rich colors that's closer to film.

CinemaPure Color Engine: CinemaPure Color Engine creates a brilliant picture that's more lifelike and much closer to film quality. It displays 40% brighter than traditional HDTVs with a crisp, 1080p high definition resolution. You can rely on the Samsung DLP HDTV to deliver high contrast, defined edges and sharp details

LED Backlight: Not only does an LED backlight produce brilliant color, it lasts the life of the TV. This environmentally-friendly DLP TV uses an LED backlight which means there's no bulb to replace. The long-lasting Generation 2.4 LED consistently outperforms its traditional lamp-based counterparts, delivering outstanding picture quality and continuous light output for over 60,000 hours

Digital Natural Image Engine (DNIe): Samsung's DNIe makes input signals sharper, clearer, and more lifelike. It's advanced  image processors and six-times density enhancer help to create true-to-life colors and high contrast, while virtually eliminating digital artifacts. DNIe is made up of a Motion Optimizer, a Contrast Enhancer, a Color Optimizer and a Detail Enhancer to produce life-like images that rival reality.

Integrated HDTV Tuner: The TV has a built-in over-the-air HDTV (ATSC) tuner, so you don't have to purchase a separate digital set-top box to receive and decode over-the-air HDTV/SDTV signals. The TV also has a 181-channel NTSC analog tuner. An additional QAM tuner decodes unscrambled digital cable signals.

Native Resolution: The television has a display resolution of 1920 x 1080. The HDMI and component video inputs will accept 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p, and 480i (component only) signals and will display them as 1920 x 1080. The television features a full HD 1920 x 1080p digital format converter for all inputs.

Digital Noise Reduction: If the broadcast signal received by the TV is weak, you can activate the DNR feature to help reduce any static and ghosting effects that may appear on the screen.

Film Mode: The TV can be set to automatically sense and process film signals from all sources and adjust the picture for optimum quality.

Automatic Picture Settings: You can choose one of the following automatic picture modes:

  • Standard: general TV watching mode
  • Dynamic: to increase the clarity and sharpness of picture
  • Movie: when watching movies

Note: You can adjust and store the following settings for each picture setting: contrast, brightness, sharpness, color and tint.

Detail Picture Settings: The television also allows you to make more precise picture settings.

  • Black Adjust: directly select the black level on the screen from Off, Low, Medium or High to adjust the screen depth
  • Dynamic Contrast: adjust the screen contrast from Off, Low, Medium, or High so that the optimal contrast is provided
  • LED Control: selects the brightness of the LED by surrounding brightness from Auto, Max, High, Medium, Low or Min
  • Gamma: adjusts the primary color (red, green, blue) intensity from -3 to +3.
  • White Balance: adjusts the color temperature from -10 to +10 for more natural picture colors
  • Flesh Tone: emphasizes the pink flesh tone in the picture
  • Edge Enhancement: emphasizes object boundaries; can be turned either On or Off
  • xvYCC: provides a wider color space when used with xvYCC-compatible video components and content; using HDMI or component video connections; you can turn this feature On or Off; Picture Mode must be set to Movie to use this feature
  • Color Tone: choose from the following Color Tones - Cool2, Cool1, Normal, Warm1 or Warm2

Blue Only Mode: You can emphasize the Blue color by switching off the Red and Green colors. This function displays the blue signal only be removing the red and green signals from the video signal so as to provide a Blue Filter effect that is used to adjust the Color and Tint of video equipment such as DVD players and Home Theaters. Using the function, you can adjust the Color and Tint to preferred values appropriate to the signal level of each video device using the Red/Green/Blue/Cyan/Magenta/Yellow Color Bar Patterns, without using and additional Blue Filter.

Color Gamut: A Color gamut is a color matrix made up with the basic colors of Red, Green and Blue. You can choose from the following Color Gamuts - Wide (displays the native color gamut of panel device), Normal (normal color gamut offers flat and natural color tone), or sRGB (supports color tone of sRGB format).

Picture Sizes: You can choose one of the following picture sizes:

  • 4:3: sets the picture to 4:3 normal mode
  • 16:9: sets the picture to 16:9 wide mode
  • Wide Fit: enlarges the aspect ratio of the picture to fit the entire screen
  • Zoom 1: magnifies the size of the picture and allows you to move the enlarged picture using the arrows on the remote
  • Zoom 2: magnifies the size of the picture more than Zoom 1 and allows you to move the enlarged picture using the arrows on the remote

You can change the size of the PIP window and even view the two pictures as a 4:3 or 16:9 split screen. You can also move the PIP window to each corner of the screen.

Note: While the V-chip is in operation, the PIP function cannot be used.
