Stay in the know

Place the water leak sensor in the basement, in the cabinet under your sink, or by your hot water heater. The moment there's water where there shouldn't be, you'll immediately receive an alert on your phone so that you can take swift action. This is especially helpful if you're away on vacation, or if you're monitoring a second home. No longer will you be surprised by ruined floors and damaged belongings.

SmartThings plays nicely with others too

Samsung's SmartThings is designed around an open platform. Not only can you use SmartThings accessories, but there are a wide range of products from different companies that easily integrate into the system. Well constructed, compact device that works well. Range, fo me, is fine. Only wish is for an option to use a sensor connected to this device by a short wire instead of the terminals embedded in its base.

Not a reliable sensor

Rich from PA on 8/20/2017

Not a very reliable product, prone to dropping offline. Not what I need for a device monitoring for water leaks. First, I ordered from Crutchfield because of the great service available. Previously I had bought the Hub and some sensors directly from Samsung but their support was non existent, did not return emails. I knew I would buy any future sensors from the folks that answer the phone and give answers.

Pros: When it works it is a great system

Cons: Different sensors randomly drop offline every couple of weeks

Samsung SmartThings Water Leak Sensor

Excellent water sensor that seems very reliable and has good battery life. I have 3 of these placed throughout my home to alert me should we have a water leak. This way we'll find out right away and hopefully avert any disaster scenario (we had a water leak in our old house a few years ago and recently our neighbor up the street had one and it ruined a lot of their stuff). Water leaks can happen to anyone and these little guys will save home owners lots of headaches and $$$. Also, then you get the peace of mind knowing that your home is OK while you're away... I love it.

Q
Can I install 5 water senses?
[ vincent  Jun 16, 2018 ]

A
Yes. Smartthings support as many as you want. I would suggest name them differently though.
[ Rafael  Jun 16, 2018 ]
A
I don't believe there is a limit on the number of Water Leak Sensors that can be added to SmartThings (this should operate similarly to the Motion Sensors). After adding the sensor, I would assign a unique name to help the user identify which sensor alarm is being triggered.
