Samsung SmartThings Home Monitoring Kit - The free SmartThings Mobile app gives you control from anywhere
Crutchfield: Samsung SmartThings home automation
From Samsung Samsung SmartThings
The Samsung SmartThings Home Monitoring Kit contains everything you need to get started.
Imagine using an app on your phone to control the electronic devices in your house, no matter where you are. With the Samsung SmartThings Home Monitoring Kit, you'll enjoy easy home automation at the tap of an app. You can remotely turn connected devices on and off, or be alerted when a window or door is opened. Everything is controlled from your phone or tablet.
There are three parts to the SmartThings system: the hub, the app, and the connected devices (known as Things). The system starts with the hub, which is the conductor for all of your wirelessly connected devices.
Setup is a breeze. Simply plug the hub into your router with the included Ethernet cable, and into the wall for power. You'll control it through the free SmartThings Mobile app (Apple®/Android™/Windows®) on your phone or tablet. This gives you full access to all of the connected devices that you have in your home. Each time you add an additional SmartThings product, you will see it appear within the app. A few taps of the finger later, and you're up and running.
The SmartThings family is an ecosystem that is designed to make your existing lifestyle easier, safer, and more fun. With optional accessories like the arrival sensor, you can receive a text when your child arrives home from school. If there is water in your basement, the water leak sensor will alert you so you won't come home from vacation to a flooded basement. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. You can also use the SmartThings app to create custom commands that are triggered by certain events.
Use the included motion sensor and outlet in tandem so that when you wake up fresh coffee begins to brew. Automatically, the local news starts to play through your Sonos® PLAY:1 speaker in the kitchen. Use your phone as a proximity sensor, and with an optional smart door lock your front door will unlock as you pull into the driveway. Your home can be locked and unlocked remotely from your phone anytime, anywhere. You'll never need to hide a key again.
Samsung's SmartThings is designed around an open platform. Not only can you use SmartThings accessories, but there are a wide range of products from different companies that easily integrate into the system. You can add light bulbs, thermostats, cameras, door locks, wireless speakers and more. Control everything from a single app. Here are some products that we carry that work beautifully with your SmartThings system:

Easy to set up, works well with Alexa, Google home
I now use smart home and everything is working just fine I understand that Samsung is purchasing smart home I am not looking forward to the conversion.
Easy to set up. A little more work to get it going with Amazon Alexi. Uses Zigbee or zwave devices.
Love this product. Have been adding devices ever since I got it.
My second system. Easy to install. Have and will continue this system to others.
I have had this system installed in my vacation house for about 10 months now, and continue to be disappointed. The initial set up was an issue, and trying to get assistance from Samsung is frustrating at best (e-mail support only), especially when it is a place where you are not living full time. Once my initial set-up problems were resolved, the system worked fine for a while (although I have never been able to get the system to be based on the correct time, something that you wouldn't think would be difficult to resolve - again more problematic working via e-mail support!). For the past several months, I have been plagued with sensors that shut off (at least I think they are - the dash board shows them OK, but the "My Home" tab shows them unavailable with the link for 'help topics' also not working), and others that detect false-alarm intrusions repeatedly. I have a webcam (separate from this system) so I can immediately check on the intrusion alarms - all have been false alarms. At other times I will open a door, with no intrusion detected at all. Basically I have found this system to be a waste of money if I cannot rely on the door and motion sensors to work properly when I am away from the property for a couple of weeks at a time.
Cons: see above
Excellent home automation system for people who want to get started. Very easy to set up and add to. Wireless security, cameras, lights, sensors and appliances all can be added to this hub.
First off, Crutchfield is great as usual. I'm glad they are venturing off and offering other electronics. The Smartthings item is great. Pros: 1. Easy set up 2. Things are very responsive (virtually no lag) 3. Things paired easily Cons: 1. Motion sensor doesn't work through windows since it is IR (I didn't know that prior to purchase but not anyone's fault) 2. iPad app isn't full screen. However iPhone app is full screen
Easy to set up and works good Also works with other products like wifi bulbs and camera So far so good
Pros: Fast and easy setup
Cons: False alarms
Bought this because they advertised that you can connect "hundreds" of devices to the hub. Not true. I was able to pair the "things" that came with the hub but that's it. I have tried to pair Cree bulbs (four different bulbs) reset them many times as instructed. Spent hours and hours of time trying different methods and chatting and live talking with tech support. The best they did was send me to a user forum. That was interesting but also useless. I would personally advise against purchasing this product if you have hopes of connecting light bulbs. I should also add that, in addition to the Cree bulbs, I attempted to connect GE link and Phillips Hue bulbs. The hub just cannot "find" any of them. Really expensive hub that is basically worthless unless you will just be happy with door and motion sensors. Wish I had returned this and gone with the less expensive wink hub.
Pros: It works with the motion and door sensors it came with
Cons: Will not connect to Cree, Phillips, or GE zigbee light bulbs.
Easy to set up and works well. Occasional false alarms but not too bad and rather easy to cross reference with other alerts or cameras.
Pros: Quick and easy set up
Cons: false alerts
Pros: Easy set up and Compatability
this was extremely easy to setup and works great!
Pros: Easy setup, low profile components, works well with notifications
Cons: The app is not entirely intuitive
Nice system, easy to add the devices that came with it. Great price on a one day sale from Crutchfield!
Pros: Works well
Cons: Only Con is that after I had it up for few days Samsung did something to cause the Hub to go offline. However they did email me to let me know and all I had to do was cycle the Hub to get it back up and running.
Setup was easy and very straight forward. The contents of the kit are well organized and easy to follow. This is the perfect kit for a new smart home buyer.
Pros: Easy instructions, well-organized, simple setup, battery backup
Cons: Only comes in white...

Best price on the whole internet at $199 was at crutchfield. It was my first purchase and I plan on coming back over and over again. Besides 1 day free shipping to my state for orders over $35 is great. [ Anne Burnley Dec 05, 2015 ]
No, it will not. [ Rodney Dec 22, 2018 ]
Buy an Amazon Firetv Cube. It will control all functions of the tv plus cable or satellite with voice. That's the best solution. The SmartThings hub is better suited as an interface to home automation such as lighting in my opinion. [ POORANG Dec 22, 2018 ]
