Almost as good as I expected. Mesh network was easy to install. I have installed Google WiFi mesh before. This was a little harder due to lack of app feedback (not as sweet as Google app) on placement, throughput, visibility.

Almost as good as I expected. Mesh network was easy to install. I have installed Google WiFi mesh before. This was a little harder due to lack of app feedback (not as sweet as Google app) on placement, throughput, visibility.

Pros: I used the Ethernet port at all three devices to Ethernet hubs. Seems to work fine; good throughput. I used the iOS apps on iOS 11. Documentation is skimpy on how to use the SmartThings hub. (I do not own an IOT device at this point. That is the next adventure. Having the IOT hub included was clincher for me to buy)

Cons: Downside: Plume tech - I wanted this tech - but - Yes, you can control access of devices using the Plume app on iOS. Not clear what this gains you. I do not see that Plume tech is used for bandwidth allocation and dynamic WiFi channel distribution - the two tech adds I really wanted. There are no tools on either app to determine channels and tech (e.g. N vs AC or 5 vs 2.4) So I am not sure that I have gained the Plume tech.

Excellent mesh network. SmartThings device support not 100% yet

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Super-easy to set up. Really pumps the wifi throughout the condo now (had terrible dead spot in a bedroom before). I also picked this mesh network because I have SmartThings set up as well. Am withholding judgment on that function until I see if Samsung adds full support for my Stelpro baseboard thermostats (which are brand new and worked with the "old" SmartThings hub and app). The new app fired right up, and I was able to add some Z-wave light switches and an outlet. I did have trouble adding a Z-wave motion sensing light switch so I will see if that gets supported as well. Over pretty happy unless the thermostats aren't supported. Then will change to pretty unhappy.

Pros: Terrific transmission of wifi throughout house Easy set-up

Cons: Not all devices previously supported by SmartThings are supported by the new app (yet. . .)

2 questions already asked

Im with att universe on the 75 mbps plan since I got the hub I've been getting 48 to 50 mbps downloads and about 7 to 8 uploads throughout the house [ Gary  Oct 02, 2018 ]
I set this up in a two story condo. Speed on laptop plugged directly into cable modem: 70 Mbps. Speed everywhere in condo: 70 Mbps. Which is amazing since some spots in the condo barely had signal at all. Only hiccup so far is trying to use the Samsung Wifi as a router (i.e. plugged directly into a modem, not modem/router). Am still trying to figure out the settings to manually set up this way. [ Shawn J.  Oct 01, 2018 ]
I have not been able to hook the router up yet, building a new house and have not moved in yet. Will post some information later. [ Doug  Oct 01, 2018 ]
Here is my test: Using Firefox SpeedTest site on iMac i7 Ethernet to Ethernet hub to Ethernet of WiFi remote: Ping 21ms download 93.47mbps upload 11.4mbps (WiFi speeds). At Spectrum connected main hub to Ethernet hub to Ethernet Apple TV - SpeedTest app: Ping 17ms download 96.3mbps upload 11.5mbps (all Ethernet from Spectrum router). Spectrum DNS. All test used the same destination of COX Orange county (less than 100miles away). [ George Mack  Oct 01, 2018 ]
That's correct; you would need an internet service provider (such as Comcast or AT&T) as well as a modem (sold separately) in order to use the Samsung SmartThings Wi-Fi Router.
