Clean, musical sub for rounding out low end
Joseph from HILLSBORO, OR on 6/9/2022
Great little sub to round out the low end on bookshelf speakers. Nicely musical with full range of deep bass. Good punch and clean follow-through of decay. Not muddy. Using in music-only system with Klipsch RP600Ms powered by an 8 watt/channel tube amp. The 1000-watt amp within the sub does a nice job of unloading bass power needs and allowing the tube amp to blossom. Truly sweet little system. Some reviewers seem to be expecting this sub to shake the house in theater systems, but I don't think that is the intent for a small sub with a small cone. Not for riding around the house if you're driving it to liftoff. Better to get a 15-inch sub for such uses.
Pros: Clean, musical, inexpensive, nice full bass range. Easy hookup with range of options. Crossover works well. Small footprint for smaller systems.
Cons: Not for massive theater installations (not really a con, just a reality check).

Awesome Sub, great price point

I think a lot of GoldenEar and these subs. This is my second ForceField 3 sub. I've installed in my office and paired it with a pair of GoldenEar Triton Fives. What I really like about the FF series of subs is that I can use the high-level inputs from my amp to the sub, then high-level outputs to my speakers and take advantage of the crossover control built into the FF3. I find the 8" driver and passive radiator, in addition to the 1,000 watt amp, provide superb bass. My second FF3 (connected via LFE to an AVR) is used in conjunction with a GoldenEar SuperCinema 3D XL and Aon2' for a 5.1 system in my casual media/gaming area. In this set-up, the AVR provides the crossover control and the LFE connection on the FF3 is bypassed. These subs are fantastic! They are an easy recommendation.
Pros: smooth, impactful bass ... 1,000 watt amp, easy connection via high-level input or LFE
Cons: None ... own two of them, use for music, TV viewing, and gaming ... in all those application, this sub handles it all, and handles it very well.

Expected more than I got.

Dissappointed with the sound quality. The crossover does very little for the signal. The sub starts to sound trashy with the gain at 50% or more. Only holds in the low frequencys (60hz or less), has no upper range (sound gets annoying). May make an Okay? LFE sub for movies. I bought this to use with a computer in 2.1 setup, I'm using it with HD4 Audio Engines. I use a Y splitter cable to merge the L&R signals to mono for input to the sub. In my bedroom, I have the HD6 Audio Engines sending the sub signal to a Rel T5i sub in the same manner. That setup sounds phenomal. This sub leaves alot to be desired. Especially considering it has a 1000 watt amp. I still own a pair of Definitive Technology BP2002tl front towers, and 2 PF15tl+ subs that still sound incredible. These are predecessors to Golden Ear. Sandy Gross who helped build Polk, then Definitive Technology.
Pros: Auto on circuit. Low extension.
Cons: Light cabinet, starts hopping up and down when it is pushed. Crossover knob does very little for the signal. Sounds terrible above 60hz. Has no musicality. Overall output is lacking. "Clean output."
